Killian’s POV.
A sudden wave of happiness and relief washed over me. I could feel my wolf leaping in absolute joy.
I quickly hustled to my feet and rushed towards the door, knocking repeatedly.
Shortly afterwards, the door creaked open and one of the healers walked out, she had a small smile on her face which somehow, was a soothing remedy to my bruised nerves.
Funny how I made sure every healer present for the day was locked up together with Elena in her ward.
I was willing to do anything to save her life, even if it meant swapping my life with hers.
“Hey, what’s the news?” I raised my brows at her.
“Fortunately, your mate is a fighter, we thought she was gone but he moved all of a sudden,” she replied.
I couldn’t hold back the huge smile that broke out on my face as her words filtered into my ears. Of course my Elena is going to fight for her life, for us. She wasn’t going to leave me like that ever again.
“Well, can I see her now?”
She shook her head negatively. “I’m afraid you can’t, we are still trying to get her to be stable,” she replied and I drew out a ragged breath.
I really want to see her.
“How long is it going to take?”
“I’m sorry Alpha, but I really can’t tell,” she replied.
“It’s okay, you can go back in and join the others, I await good news,” I nodded at her and sank back to the floor.
I slowly rested my head frustratedly on the wall, my eyes squeezed shut. The news of Elena’s health was a huge relief to me. I couldn’t wait for her to open eyes.
Shortly, I heard footsteps approaching me and I flickered my eyes open to see one of my warriors walking towards me.
“Alpha,” he bowed slightly in respect. “We have captured him, he’s presently in the cell,”
A deep smirk played out on my face as soon as I heard that.
Of course I knew he couldn’t hide from me no matter how hard he tried.
Even though he was captured way too faster than I had imagined.
“That’s a really good job you guys pulled off, I’m proud,” I stood up from the floor and ruffled his hair playfully and he roared into laughter.
“Take me to him,” I muttered and he nodded. I followed him behind as he walked towards pack’s cell.
He led me towards one of the dark cell rooms and there he was. Darius. The Alpha of Greenwoods pack.
He was tied with a strong chain laced with wolves bane.
“It’s truly you,” I muttered, trying so hard to back my anger. I didn’t want to kill him peacefully. For hurting Elena, I had prepared a slow and bitter death for him. One that would make him wish for actual death.
“You know I refused to believe the rumors because I was certain you made a promise to me that had made me spare your life that night,” I chuckled dryly.
He continued to stare at me with anger and disgust smeared all over his face.
“Why? Why did you try to kill me? Were you sent or it’s your will?” I asked.
“I have nothing to say to you, where is she? Where is Elena? He spat.
I felt a deep wave of anger rise within me as he mentioned her name, how did he even know her name.
“How dare you say her name!” I released a heavy punch over his jaw and a gulp of blood spilled from his mouth to the blood. “How did you know Elena? Did someone send you to kill her?”
He croaked out a dry laughter, the corner of his lips tilted in a smug smirk. “It would have been you, it should have been you dead right now and not Elena,”
What?
I rushed at him and kneeled him in his stomach, enjoying the cry of terror that left his mouth as he struggled to break free from the restrains and attack me.
How much I would have loved to rip off his heart and watch him gasp to death, but right now, I needed answers from him more than I wanted him dead. He seemed to know something.
“What nonsense are you talking about?” I growled.
He stared back at me without saying a word.
“Speak!” I spat in his face. “Elena is fighting for her life right now because of you, so you better speak up and tell me why you are doing this or who put you up to it or it will get really terrible right now,”
Surprisingly, he roared into laughter.
“Did you just say because of me? All this is your fault, Elena wouldn’t have been suffering this cruel faith if it wasn’t for your foolishness, you have yourself to blame if anything happens to her,” he snapped back at me.
A deep gush of confusion surge through me as his words filtered into my ears. I couldn’t seem to comprehend what he was hinting at.
How was everything my fault? He literally barged into my pack and made an attempt on my life.
“If anything happens to Elena, a lot of lives will be in line also, and it all still comes down to you,”
I couldn’t take it any longer, he was playing mind tricks with me and I was giving him the time of the day.
I kneeled again, this time over the jaw and he roared in terror.
I crouched to his level on the floor and roughly grabbed his jaw.
“Don’t play mind tricks with me, if you don’t start talking in clear terms right now, death would be a favorable torture for you,” I growled but he seemed unbothered about my threats.
“Why don’t you ask Elena? I promise you, she has more clear explanations,” he smirked.
Again, I rushed at him, ready to strike again when the sudden voice of one of my guards interrupted.
“Alpha, she’s awake, she wants to see you,”
