I have to find him.

Elena’s POV.
I slowly opened my eyes blearily and found myself lying on a bed in the pack’s clinic. The strong smell of herbs and medicines slipped into my nose.
A low moan escaped my lips as I struggled to sit up, the memories of the events of the previous day came rushing back to my head in a heavy rush.
Everything around me seemed to appear blurry, I blinked repeatedly to clear the fuzzy feeling in my head.
I couldn’t also ignore the sore pain hitting my chest, it was a clear reminder of my foolish, yet brave move yesterday. The pain from the deep cut nuzzled at me forcing a low moan out of my mouth. Nonetheless, I was grateful for the pain as it served as a subtle reminder that I wasn’t dead.
The door suddenly creaked open and I snapped my head in the direction just to see him walking in hastily, my destined mate that I would do anything for. Killian Dimitri.
He appeared as though he has been crying following how puffy and sore his eyes were.
He looked like a total mess, his clothes were stained with my blood.
Tell me this man hasn’t showered since I passed out.
He looked extremely restless, his hair was a complete mess and there were visible dark circles under his eyes.
“Killian?” My voice was barely audible as I whispered his name, I flashed him a warm smile hoping it would reassure him that I was okay and he could at least stop panicking.
I couldn’t believe I was seeing him again in flesh and blood. I really didn’t die from the brutal stab. I thought it was all over. That I was long gone and never going to see him again nor my kids.
He rushed towards me, gently grabbing my hand, and stared deep into my eyes.
“Elena, you are awake, you returned to me,” he breathed heavily, droplets of tears welling up in his eyes.
The wide smile on his face was contagious, I couldn’t hold back my smile as well.
“Stop staring at me like I rose from death Killian,” I teased, trying to make light of the situation.
He chuckled slightly, raising our entwined hands to his lips and kissed it repeatedly. I could tell he was speechless with the way he continued to stare at me deeply, his hands on mine squeezed gently.
I felt a surge of emotions as I stared into the eyes of the only man I have ever loved truly while he returned my gaze with a tender one.
“It’s okay Killian, you can stop panicking now, I assure you, I’m perfectly fine, you don’t have to worry anymore,” I mumbled trying to pull him out of his dazed state.
“Thank you, Elena, for coming back to me, my life holds no meaning without you,” the words left his mouth in a barely audible tone, and a drop of tear rolled down his cheeks.
I was thrown off-guard by his vulnerable state, I had never seen him this soft before.
Slowly, I reached out and cleaned off his tears. “You are gonna make me get sick if you continue like this,” I chuckled.
“Why? Why did you do it? The strike was aimed at me, why did you take it? Why did you risk your life for me?” His voice quivered as he spoke.
It was my turn to raise our entwined hands slowly and gently to my lips and kissed passionately.
“I will do it over and over again Killian, that’s how much I love you, trust me, I don’t regret any of it, I love you, Killian,” I smiled weakly at him. I couldn’t hold back my tears as well.
Freely, they streamed down my cheeks.
“I love you, Elena, so much, you have no idea, if I had lost you, It would have been the end for me,” he reached out and wiped off my tears. “I’m gonna need you to promise me that you’ll never do something like this again,”
“Killian…”
“Shh…” He brushed his hand over my lips stopping me from speaking any further.
“You love me and I know that, but you can’t pull this move ever again, I should protect you and not the other way around, I would never forgive myself if anything happened to you,”
I couldn’t hold back the smile that broke out on my face, despite the tears that kept streaming down uncontrollably.
“I’m sorry Killian, but you can’t stop me from doing what my heart truly wants, I’ll risk my life for you over and over again, no question, you have to deal with it,” I stuck my tongue out teasingly to make life of the situation.
He smiled and stroked my cheeks playfully. “You grow stubborn by the day,” he muttered and I chuckled.
“Hey, you are gonna be okay, I’ll make sure the healers attend to no one else but you,” he replied.
“No, you will not do that,” I snapped at him.
“Well, unfortunately, I will,” he smiled.
“Well, fortunately, my wound is already healing up so fast,” I returned his smile with a vicious one.
“You!” He ruffled my hair playfully and I busted into laughter. He couldn’t hold back his laughter as well. The world seemed to stop turning as we laughed heartily.
“I’m really glad you are okay Elena,” he stared into my eyes as he spoke.
“I’m glad too,” I returned his smile with a bigger one.
“Everything will be fine,” he stroked my cheeks passionately. “I’ll be back real quick, I need to do something fast,” he stood up.
“I’ll just go back to sleep then,” I replied and he nodded, leaning closer to kiss my cheeks before walking out of the ward.
I readjusted on the bed and squeezed my eyes shut. Almost immediately, I felt a loud bang on my head.
Darius! What could be his situation right now?
I was certain there was no way Killian would let him get away with the stunt he pulled.
For all I know, maybe he had already been captured and is been questioned right now.
What if he spills the truth about my involvement in the whole scheme?
No! I have to find Killian and tell him the truth before Darius beats me to it.
