Elena’s POV.
Killian carried me all the way to my room, but when he got to my room door, he walked past it.
“Uhm… Killian, that’s my room you just passed,” I said.
He chuckled and looked down to stare at me. “You can’t use your legs properly, how do you expect to stay alone in your room?”
“Killian, I can use my legs perfectly,” I protested.
“You can’t and I’m not letting you do that, plus, it’s not safe yet, we do not know if Graham left his cohorts to finish up what he started, so until I’m sure everything is sorted, you will be staying in my room miss,” he replied.
I managed a little nod as he proceeded toward his room. I couldn’t get hold of how I feel right now, my feelings were all over the place.
I was torn between being happy to be staying in Killian’s room and having him all to myself, and also being sad about it because there would be no way to communicate with Darius.
Once he hears the news of my return he will surely report to my room. And I really needed to see him too, there was a lot we needed to talk about. He has been spotted by people and the rumors are already flying around, it won’t be long before Killian sets a trap and captures him. And I knew Darius wasn’t harmless as well, he already has Killian planned out too.
The clash of both of them would certainly lead to a really brutal battle and I didn’t want that. I couldn’t risk anything happening to the both of them.
I just have to figure out a way to meet with Darius, he would listen to me.
“Welcome, to your new crib,” Killian teased and I chuckled.
There was no doubt that I was happy to be here with him, but at the same time, I was scared of the outcome.
He dropped me gently on the bed and covered me properly with the bed wraps.
“Hold on, let me get you water,” he made to walk out.
“Killian I have a tummy full of food and water,” I protested.
“Well, you are certainly going to need it, did you not hear the healer? You have to take plenty of water so your wounds can heal up fast,” he replied.
“Well, you can send one of the maids to get it,”
“No, I’ll get it myself,” he flashed me a warm smile and walked out.
Once he was out, I stood to my feet, enduring the pain nibbling at me and ran to the door.
Maybe I could run to my room and have a quick conversation with Darius. He will surely be there.
I exhaled a deep breath and pushed the door open. My breath hooked up instantly on my throat as my gaze landed on a bunch of guards standing by the door.
Oh no!
“Uh… Is there a problem?” I tried to act ignorant to their reasons for being there.
“It’s an order from the Alpha, we are to guard you until everything is settled,” one of them spoke up.
Fuck Killian!
Even if I wanted to plead with them to let me go to my room, Killian would be back before they agreed.
I needed to strategize.
Letting out a deep sigh, I turned around and headed back into the room while racking through my head for the best possible plan to get me out of there.
Just as my butt came in contact with the bed, an idea suddenly struck my mind. It wasn’t the best idea per se, but it was worthy of a shot.
As soon as I heard the creaking sound from the door, I quickly recoiled to the bed and squeezed my eyes shut feigning to be in deep sleep.
“Elena?” He called but I remained still.
Shortly, I felt a weight beside me on the bed, and I knew it had to be him.
He snuggled closer to me and pulled me into his arms, wrapping his hands around me and kissed my forehead. “I love you, Elena, so much,” he whispered under his breath but I could hear him clearly.
“I don’t know what would have happened to me if you weren’t found,” he continued to mutter silently as he kissed my cheeks repeatedly.
I was moved to tears by his tender confessions but I would ruin my plans if I reacted. I just laid still, trying so hard to be void of my emotions as Killian’s words touched the deepest part of my heart. If only I could open my eyes and stare deep into his, telling him how much I love him too. But my plans were in motion and I couldn’t ruin it.
“Alpha!” I suddenly heard one of the guards call from the door side.
“What is it?” Killian snapped. I could tell he was pissed by the interruption.
“The elders sends for you,”
I almost screamed out in shock. Here comes the perfect opportunity that I seek for.
I heard him draw out a long hiss, leaning forward to kiss my cheeks, and stood from the bed and walked away. I finally released my eyes, staring around in excitement.
I could hear him dishing out strict warnings to the guards by the doorside before walking away.
I waited for a few minutes before walking towards the door.
Of course, they were there as soon as I opened the door.
“You guys are still here?” I feigned surprise.
“We are always going to be here until Alpha Killian has the issues of security in the pack perfectly under control,” one of them replied.
“Well, I appreciate you all looking out for me, but you look hungry, you need to eat,”
“You don’t have to worry about that.” Another one of them chirped in.
“Oh, I should worry, because if you don’t feed, how do you intend to fight when there is any form of attack?” I pushed further.
“But Alpha…”
“I’m sure he’ll understand, and he doesn’t have to know since he’s out with the elders, you just have to hurry and return, and I will make sure the door is locked from the inside,”
They glanced at each other, exchanging knowing looks.
“We’ll be back in a heartbeat, please the Alpha mustn’t find out about this,” one of them spoke and I flashed him a warm smile.
“Well, would you tell him? Cause I won’t,” I replied.
“Thank you,” they chorused.
I watched in great excitement as they all trooped out.
