what have you done?

Kai’s POV.
I knelt beside her bed, my hands clutching onto her bed wrap while my nose sniffed it, a strong wave of pain hit me hard as her sweet scent filtered into my nose, coursing through my whole body.
“Elena, where are you please?” My voice trembled with pain and anguish, hoping fervently that she would walk through the door and flash me her delightful smile, letting me know that she was very much fine and had only stepped out to cool off her head from the tension of the mating ceremony.
But those were the figments of my imagination, the door was still tightly shut and the silence in the room was deafening and it burned my heart with every passing minute.
It was the second time I would be torn to shreds in the most brutal way possible, first was her banishment which rendered me totally a sadist, and now that she had returned and we were close to patching up our broken pieces, doom came knocking again.
Tears threatened to fall from my eyes but nothing came anyway, I was torn between shock and pain, making me sink to my knees with my last restraint hanging by a thin thread.
I have always been one to handle pain lightly, but when it involved Elena, I was nothing but a weak man left to fumble with the unbearable pain that comes with it.
I was slowly losing my mind, everything seemed so surreal, this minute Elena was in my arms as we made passionate love to each other, and the next minute, she vanished into thin air.
As I rubbed myself against her bed in frustration, my hand suddenly collided with a sharp metal under her pillow.
Quickly throwing off the pillow, my eyes landed on it… A sharp blade.
My eyes flew wide open in shock as my have lingered on the sharp object lying dangerously on the bed, glistening to my eyes.
What could she possibly be doing with such a dangerous weapon huh? I could already sense the burning aura emitting from it, indicating that it was laced all over with wolves bane.
This right here is capable of murdering any werewolf regardless of how strong they might be, including me.
I pushed the thoughts off my head as I carefully returned the dagger to its previous spot and covered it back with the pillow and straightened up, she might have needed it for protection anyway, returning to a pack where you were casted out for a crime you know nothing about, anyone would be prepared.
I didn’t let it dwell in my head, I was occupied with the thoughts of finding her as soon as possible.
I was still kneeling beside the bed, different possible questions ran through my head when the door flung open, revealing Aria’s mocking face.
“Awn, look at you, reducing yourself to a wreck all because of a worthless woman,” she snickered, the corner of her lips tugged up in an evil smirk. “She isn’t worth it, stop beating yourself up,”
It suddenly dawned on me, why haven’t I thought about Aria this whole time?
I quickly took a long stride towards her, closing the distance between us, and grabbed her neck, pinning her against the wall. “What have you done?”
“Killian, you are hurting me,” she cried, tapping my hand frantically but my grip only tightened.
“You despised her, Aria, you never gave her a break, this has to be your plan to take her away from my life,” I growled angrily, not stopping to think if she could breathe or not.
“You are going to provide her Aria, or I will kill you and feed your body to the birds of the air.” My hands around her neck tightened without mercy as I spoke.
“I didn’t do anything, let go of me,” she cried breathlessly.
“The key to your life is in your hands right now, provide my mate and I will spare your life,” I snarled.
“Killian!”
“Answer me!” I shook her vigorously. “What have you done to Elena? What has happened to my mate!”
“I don’t know anything about this, Killian,” her voice was beginning to fade as I continued to tighten my grip on her, making sure air was restricted from flowing through her throat.
“You had better start talking if you cherish the breath in your lung, Where is she? Where is Elena?”
“Killian you are hurting me! I told you I don’t know anything, let me go!” She gasped. I ignored her pleas and held on tight.
I watched in satisfaction as her face slowly turned pale, as she now stopped struggling, I was certain if I didn’t loosen my grip, she’ll be dead in no time and I was glad. “I guess you made your choice already,” I snarled watching her slowly give up.
Suddenly, the door flew open and my mother ran in. “Killian! What are you doing?” She screamed rushing towards me and grabbed my hands.
“Let go now!”
“Mother, I can’t, she knows something,” I protested.
“And killing her will provide the information you need?” She raised her brows at me.
Exhaling a deep breath, I slowly loosened my grip on her, not completely, but enough to allow her drag in a mouthful of air.
I watched as she coughed furiously while desperately struggling to sink in as enough breath as she could.
With my hands still clutching onto her neck, I leaned towards her ear. “Don’t think you have escaped this, I have my eyes on you and if I find out by myself that you are responsible for Elena’s disappearance, your punishment will be worse than death,”
With that, I roughly pulled my hand from her neck and she sank to the floor, coughing furiously.
“I swear on my life, I have nothing to do with this,” she mumbled amidst coughs.
Stepping away from her with anger still simmering inside me. “For your own good, you better be saying the truth,”
“Go ahead with your investigations then, you’ll see that I have done nothing,” she continued to glare at me as she massaged her neck.
Without saying another word to her or my mother, I stormed out of the room.
