Elena’s POV.
I said yes to Killian last night.
How I managed to make such a decision despite the complicated situation still remained a mystery to me.
The words flew out before I could stop them but even if a part of me wanted to, due to the twisted situation, I couldn’t.
I couldn’t deny what I truly felt for him despite how hard I tried. Killian is the only man that had my heart bonded with his so strongly that despite the complications, our bond only seemed to get stronger.
I love Killian and I can’t deny it any further, we couldn’t work out years ago, but faith still managed to bring us together again.
I was totally ready to do this with him again.
Of course, the thought of Darius crossed my mind a couple of times, he’s my second chance mate and there’s no doubt that my heart beats for him as well. But Killian held a spot in my heart that no man could ever replace.
But then I needed to have a long discussion with Darius, he has done so much for me to cast him away this way.
And the situation with Aragorn, I have decided to run to Killian for help, I’m not going to keep up with the intention to kill him anymore. I was just going to open up to him about everything and I’m damn positive that he’d rebel against Aragorn and rescue my children.
Why didn’t I think about it this whole time?
“So you are really becoming his mate again?” Kaitlyn squealed happily as we sat under a tree around the pack and discussed heartily while the branches of the tree blew chill breeze at us, soothing the conversation.
“Yes, I said yes to him again, Killian is the only man I want to spend the rest of my life with, I tried to deny it, but such feelings can’t be ignored.” I beamed all smiles.
She clapped her hands dramatically in excitement. “Oh Elena, look how perfect everything turned out for you despite all you went through, I’m really happy for you,”
Well, everything was far from being perfect, we still had a long way to go.
“And most importantly, I’m happy that you are taking away the Luna title from Aria, she doesn’t deserve it one bit,” Kaitlyn blurted out and I chuckled.
“Honestly Kaitlyn, I don’t think that’s the case, Killian is still going to keep her around for the sake of his child with her and I don’t have a problem with that,” I replied.
“But we all know who Alpha Killian really wants as his Luna, Aria is always going to be a side piece,” she spat and I shrugged.
She was right, Killian wanted me as his Luna alone.
But then, most times, I couldn’t help but wonder what could have transpired between them that resulted to a child, I never remembered him having any sort of feelings for her, and I was certain that even in my absence, he would never settle for her, let alone having a child. So many times I wanted to bring up the discussion but I didn’t know how he was going to take it.
Our mating ceremony is scheduled tomorrow, maybe after that, we could really have the conversation.
Kaitlyn and I discussed some more and she left afterward, I decided to enjoy the cool evening breeze a little more before heading back to the palace.
I instantly regretted my decision as soon as my gaze landed on Graham approaching me.
Oh not again! Why didn’t I leave with Kaitlyn?
“Elena!” He called immediately he got to where I sat.
“Hi Graham,” I replied nonchalantly, resisting the strong urge to roll my eyes at him.
“Do you mind if I join you?” He flashed me a pitiful smile.
“Are you going to take a no for an answer Graham?” I snapped and he shrugged.
I looked away from him, hoping that my outburst would send him away, but to my utmost shock, he lowered himself on a nearby tree trunk and released a deep sigh.
“Oh goodness, it’s amazing out here,”
I ignored him and continued to stare at the grasses on the floor, it was a million times better than staring at his creepy face.
“I heard the good news,” he suddenly blurted.
“You did,” I nodded without sparing him a glance.
“Is this what you really want though?” He asked and I raised my brows at him.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“I mean? Was this why you returned? To get back together with the Alpha despite everything that happened years ago?” His gaze pricked at me as he spoke.
“What… What are you talking about?” I was caught off guard by his sudden outburst, why does he keep hinting at that? Could he be aware of my situation?
“I just want to understand how you easily threw everything aside and forgave him enough to be his mate again,” he shrugged.
I racked through my head for a possible reply to get him off my back, my thought was suddenly interrupted by one of the palace maids approaching us with a glass of wine in a tray.
“Pleasant evening future Luna, I saw you sitting here alone few minutes ago and I thought to bring you a glass of wine,” she bowed slightly.
I couldn’t help the smile that broke out on my face. That was really thoughtful of her. I guess I have to start getting used to the lifestyle, I mean being the Luna means that I have everyone at my beck and call.
“Thank you, that is so thoughtful of you,” I flashed her a warm smile taking the wine glass from her.
She nodded and turned towards Graham.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know you’d be here,”
“It’s okay,” he nodded at her and she left.
Raising the glass to my mouth, I gulped down half of the content, the warm feeling coursing through my throat and down my belly was all I needed at the moment.
“Graham,” I called turning towards him. “I do not appreciate you bugging me at every turn, I owe you no explanation, and if you continue this way, I’ll be left with no choice but to report you to the Alpha.” I spat gulping down the remaining wine and stood up.
I suddenly fell back to the tree trunk immediately, my eyes were beginning to get heavy and my legs wobbled weakly. What’s happening to me?
“Hey, are you okay?” Graham quickly rushed towards me.
“Yeah, uhm… Can you help me make it back to the palace? I don’t feel too well,” I panted heavily.
“The pleasure is mine,” I heard his faint voice as he leaned down to scoop me into his arms and started walking away.
