Book:Rejected And Banished with His Heir Published:2025-3-27

Elena’s POV.
“Did Mother make you uncomfortable during breakfast? I’m sorry about that.” Killian blurted as he walked me out of the palace towards my house.
“Nah… She’s just being a concerned mom, I understand her,” I managed to force out a smile.
She really made breakfast a lot comfortable even though it wasn’t her intention.
She wouldn’t stop talking about how sorry everyone was for my banishment and how my return was a good thing.
And oh, she never stopped hinting at Killian and I reuniting again.
If only she knew what my mission was.
I felt bad knowing that I was going to break her heart and shatter her hopes. In a few days, I will be taking the life of her only son. He’s been her pride since her husband’s death.
She doesn’t deserve what I was about to do to her. Luna Drusilla has been nothing but good to me ever since Killian introduced me to her, she wasn’t one of the Luna’s that advised their son against mating with low-class pack members. She was only after his happiness and seeing that I made him happy, she gave us her absolute blessing. It’s so sad that it has to end this way.
I needed to find a way to carry out this task without being caught as the culprit, else she would despise me for generations to come.
“Elena, you don’t have to jump into anything, I’m not in a rush, I understand the trauma my mistake has caused you and I’m willing to wait until you are fully ready to mate with me again.” Killian’s voice snapped me out of my trance.
I nodded blankly at him, not knowing what else to say to him.
How do I explain to him that I already have a family of my own now? That I belonged to another man?
How do I let him know that I do not want to mate with him when I do not even know what I want anymore? I totally do not understand how I feel whenever I’m with him.
I can’t seem to control myself around him and it already felt like I was betraying Darius.
There was only one way out of all of this, I needed to get this task done as soon as possible and return to Greenwoods pack.
“You don’t have to walk me all the way home, I can find my way from here,” I halted on my track and turned towards him, motioning to retreat.
“It’s not a problem, I’ll walk you.” He insisted.
“I appreciate that, but I have to stop by somewhere, I’m meeting someone.” I lied.
I watched as the corner of his lips tilted up in a smug smirk, taking a step closer to me, and stared deep into my eyes. “Are you avoiding me?”
An instant flashback of the first time he said those words to me came rushing into my head. It was the day he claimed me as his mate. Emotions from that night swirled through my mind.
I quickly took a step back from him before I acted against my will.
“It’s okay, I’ll leave you now.” He raised his hands in surrender. “But promise to give me an hour of your time tonight? I wanna take you somewhere.”
“Fine.” I nodded.
He leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on my forehead before turning around and walked away.
I stood still, watching him walk away, a pinch of regret washing over me. Why do I have to fall for his charms despite how hard I try to hate him? I should be planning how to launch my attack on him and not sneaking around with him.
If only Aria hadn’t interrupted that night, I would have carried out this task and left before my emotions started creeping in.
“Elena?” I heard a voice call from behind and I quickly turned around. My eyes flew wide open as I gazed at Kaitlyn.
Surprisingly, she was heavily pregnant.
“It’s really you.” She muttered and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.
Why does everyone keep saying that? At this point, it’s accurate to say that I’ve heard that phrase like a million times since I got here. They completely thought I was dead.
“It’s me, Kaitlyn, you look well.” I drew closer towards her. “Wow, you are pregnant.”
“Yes, I found my mate a year ago, and we are married now.” She replied, beaming all smiles. I could tell life had really been good to her.
“I’m so happy for you, Kaitlyn.”
Her smile suddenly faded. “I’m really sorry for what happened to you Elena, you didn’t deserve that.”
Oh, here we go again.
“It’s fine, it’s a long time ago already,” I replied.
“I’ve lived with the guilt these past years, I felt like if I had switched positions with you like we always did, you wouldn’t have met Alpha Killian and all this wouldn’t have happened,”
I couldn’t help but smile. She really did care for me, even though she never admitted it.
“You don’t have to feel that way, like I said, it’s all in the past now, I’ve moved past that already.”
She suddenly looked around suspiciously as if trying to see if someone was nearby before leaning closer towards me.
“I heard that it was Alpha Killian’s sworn enemy, a lycan that plotted that to ruin his mating ceremony.”
“What?” My eyes flew open in shock as I suddenly became more interested in the conversation.
“The truth came out shortly after you were gone, Alpha Killian basically turned every nooks and crannies of the neighboring packs in search of you but there was no lead, I can’t even imagine how happy he must have been seeing you again.” She continued.
I stood frozen on the spot, my head buzzing with different thoughts.
So Killian had been the reason I went through all that? The lycan was after him?
Hold up! Lycan?
It suddenly resounded in my head repeatedly.
Could it be?
“Alpha Killian wiped off his entire lineage when he found out what he did, and right now, everyone is on edge, because it’s certain that he’s going to strike back shortly.” Her voice sounded distinctly through my head.
