Elena’s POV.
I took a step away from him, stopping him from coming closer with a wave of my hand in the air.
“Let’s not do this Killian.” I breathed out.
“Elena please…”
“I think I need to retire for the night now, it’s been a long day.” I tried to avert the situation.
It was getting beyond my capacity and if I let it continue, Killian might get to me.
I found it extremely frustrating how he still managed to have such effect on me despite our mate bond being broken.
This wasn’t what I expected, and definitely not what I was here for, I needed to remind myself that I was on a mission. A really complicated one that required my full focus. Any mistake made will cost me greatly.
“I know it’s a lot to take in, and you just got here, I’m really sorry for the rush, I just couldn’t help it, I’ve waited for this opportunity for years,” he blurted.
“I will give you as much time as needed to think about it, there will be no more pressure from me.”
“I’ll appreciate that.” I replied.
“But promise me, Elena…”
Oh no, here we go.
“That you will not disappear anymore, please don’t go, even if you will, can you just spare me some days? Please I beg you.”
It shattered my heart seeing him that way, he was making efforts to make amends and it breaks my heart knowing that I was going to hurt him at the end.
I exhaled a deep breath as the decision I was about to make haunted my head. But I had to do it anyway.
“Fine, Killian, I will stay for a little while,” the words finally passed through my throat.
Yeah, I have finally made up my mind to stay a little longer. If I was going to take his life, then maybe I could be considerate to grant his last wish. That way, I wouldn’t bear the guilt so much.
A wide smile suddenly broke out on his face as he stared at me with so much excitement and joy. “Really? You will do that?”
I watched as pinches of tears welled up in his eyes, gazing at me with admiration.
I wondered why he’s become so emotional? Was he really that affected by my absence? He seemed genuinely ready to start over with me. Too bad, it was a bad timing.
“I promise you, it’s going to be nothing like the first time,” he assured me. “Whatever you want will be provided, I don’t care if it’s not within my reach. I will hand it over to you.”
His determination to make me satisfied sent a warm lingering feeling through my body.
“I’ll keep that in mind.” I chuckled slightly. “Anyways, I feel really dizzy right now, I think I’m gonna need to rest my eyes.”
He nodded frantically like a baby agreeing to the terms of his parents. “That’s okay.”
“Goodnight then.”
“Goodnight.”
I turned around to leave, but he quickly grabbed my hand making me face him. “Thank you.” and next thing, he threw his arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug. I felt him bury his nose in my hair, taking a quick sniff. A soft grunt escaped his lips as he relaxed back into the hug, his hands stroking my back gently.
This time, I didn’t protest, I let him have his way.
After what felt like forever, he finally pulled away, a wide smile smeared all over his face. “Have a good night rest.” He turned around and walked away. Even with his back turned against me, I could still see the excitement radiating through him.
Drawing out a long sigh of frustration, I walked into the bedroom. It has been a really long day.
Once my body came in contact with the bed, I dozed off.
A knock on the door jolted me up from sleep.
“What is Killian doing here so early?” I mumbled to myself standing from the bed and dragged my legs toward the door.
“You know you really don’t have to…” I suddenly trailed off as my gaze landed on Aria. “What are you doing here Aria?”
She chuckled, nudging me slightly, and walked into the house. “You thought it was him, didn’t you?”
I exhaled a deep breath, trying to control my anger. If only she knew I was no longer the weak omega slave from two years ago.
“I’m not going to ask again, what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be with your Alpha husband?” I was sure to lace my voice with so much sarcasm.
She stared at me in silence, an expressionless look on her face. “Why are you really here? What is your motive? Aren’t you supposed to be dead and gone?”
“You are not the Moon goddess Aria dear, you have absolutely no power to determine who stays alive or dies.” I snapped back at her.
I was thoroughly enjoying the effects of my words on her.
“I see that the last lesson wasn’t enough for you huh? You have come for more?”
I furrowed my brows in confusion. “What is that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing you can’t figure out,” she smirked, walking closer to me. “Listen, I do not know your mission here, and I absolutely do not care about that, but I am definitely sure that you are up to something, and I will stop at nothing until I fish you out, and this time, banishment will be a lesser punishment for you.”
I roared into laughter as she spoke with so much confidence, while I could clearly see through her charade, she was scared that I was back to take Killian away from her. He was never even hers to begin with.
“You know honestly, I understand your fear, I mean you have always wanted him, and you finally got him but here I am to take him away right before your eyes and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it.” I paused, waiting for my words to sink in before continuing.
“Can’t you see how you struggle to get him to look at you? but I do that effortlessly, we both know who he really wants Aria, stop fooling yourself.”
“How dare you!” She fumed. I watched as she clenched her fists in anger. “You could have stayed wherever you were, now you chose misfortune, and that you will surely get.” With that, she turned around and stormed off.
