Killian’s POV.
I took a step backward, overcome with the sudden turn of events. It felt surreal to me. I couldn’t believe the only woman that I had craved to set my eyes on for the longest time was really standing right before me, looking as charming as ever.
I knew she wasn’t dead. I always had the feeling that she was alive somewhere.
The noises were beginning to die off now, as everyone present watched us keenly.
“Elena?” My voice came out in a whisper, I could barely hear myself. I braced up and took a step towards her, I was determined to make sure it was really her.
She stood still, her gaze on me never quivered. She looked equally amazed as I was, I could tell from the way her body trembled slightly. She had complex expressions on her face and I couldn’t read meaning to them. I could only fathom the shock and nervousness in her eyes.
I closed the space between us, my hands slowly reached to grab her arm gently, trying to be sure that it was truly her in flesh. “It’s really you, Elena.”
She continued to stare at me without uttering a word, her lips parted slightly as if trying to say something but it couldn’t get past her throat.
It felt like the world and every other person in it slowly melted away, leaving Elena and I standing barely an inch away from each other, lost in each other’s gaze.
In a swift move, I threw my arms around her pulling her into a tight hug. I held her in place for several seconds without letting go, my wolf kicked excitedly as our bodies stayed glued together. I was instantly aroused as a warm lingering feeling washed over me.
I felt her twitch slightly, I could tell she was getting suffocated with how tight I held her. I couldn’t let her go, scared that if I did, she would vanish into the thin air.
“Killian… I can’t breathe,” her faint voice filtered into my ears and I slowly pulled away from the hug, though my hands still grabbed her arms tightly. “I’m sorry, I’m just really happy to see you.” I grinned nonstop.
It suddenly struck me, I was almost already married to Aria. And now that Elena has returned to me, what would be my next line of action? The thoughts couldn’t leave my head.
My head burned with different thoughts. I couldn’t help but also wonder what prompted her sudden return, why did she suddenly appear out of the blue after so many years. What could be the reason behind her sudden appearance? Where has she been all this while? I wondered also what her return meant to Aria and I now that we were already almost married? For the entire pack and also for us too. Was she really back to me so we could be together? What about my daughter?
There were no answers yet for any of the questions running through my head, but one thing was certain, my heart longed for her, my entire existence craved her touch just like the old times, I could feel an undeniable pull between us.
My wolf growled excitedly, it had never been this active since she left.
“You really came back to me Elena, I never knew I would see you again,” my voice quivered as I spoke.
She didn’t say any more word, she just stood there, her gaze intensely on me without uttering a word. I couldn’t help but wonder what could be going through her head as she gazed at me.
Of course, I knew she was still upset about what happened between us, I couldn’t fathom why she remained so quiet. I expected her to be lashing out at me for the way I treated her.
“Elena I’m really sorry for what I did to us, I’m sorry for not trusting and believing you, I’m sorry for rejecting and banishing you from the pack, you didn’t deserve any of that,” I blurted out all at once, my lips trembling with excitement and nervousness.
Instead of giving me a reply of any sort, I felt her move slightly away from me, but I wasn’t prepared to let that happen, I quickly closed the space between us again, my grip on her tightened firmly.
At that moment, all I could see was her extremely gorgeous face glowing in innocence. I had totally forgotten about the crowd gathered around us. I cared less about what they could be murmuring about. All that mattered to me was Elena.
So many things I want to do to her. How much I have missed her.
I had spent closely two years searching for her and longing to set my eyes on her, and now that she was here, all I wanted was to kiss her breathlessly, hold her in my warm embrace, and never let go of her again.
I didn’t know how possible that could be but my hope never wavered.
However, I needed to take her somewhere private so we could discuss, the loud noise from the crowd was a huge distraction to us.
“Can I take you somewhere private, please? We really have a lot to talk about,” I pleaded, but she remained silent, her gaze on me unwavering. From the look on her face, I could tell she was stunned beyond words, she seemed not to be able to comprehend what was going on.
Seeing that she wasn’t making any move, I grabbed her hands firmly, turning around, and started heading away from the crowd, luckily, she didn’t protest, instead hastened her steps to meet mine. We finally made it to a safe corner. Only the noises from birds chirping could be heard.
“Elena, I’m deeply sorry, I caused you so much pain and you didn’t didn’t deserve any of that, please forgive me,”
She exhaled a deep breath and looked away. “Killian, let’s not do this please.”
I felt my body shudder in excitement as her melodious voice sent chills down my spine. Everything about her has always been so magical.
“Elena please, allow me to…”
“If you insist then, let’s discuss over a drink, I’m thirsty.” She quickly cut me off.
