Killian’s POV.
I held Emily’s little hands as we walked into the house. We were coming from the pack gathering where almost all the marital rites have been performed. It was remaining the big wedding which was a few days away.
Aria will officially become my wife and move in with me. It still felt surreal. I mean Aria was the last person I would ever want to get married to. I have been following through every step of the marital rites reluctantly.
But I had no choice than to endure for my little girl’s happiness. Finally, I could make it up to her for the lost days.
Over the past few days, we have bonded quite well, I didn’t wait for Mother to invite her over, I always went over to bring her myself, and I allowed Aria to visit as well.
I have come to realize how much of a sweet angel Emily is which made me regret hurting her the more, she was nothing like her mother, they were only alike in so many physical features, which included hair, skin color, eye color and so many more.
There was no resemblance between us, but I was beginning to feel really connected to her as the day passed.
I haven’t stopped grieving Elena nonetheless, but I was beginning to struggle out of my shell bit by bit, definitely, she holds a special place in my heart forever but I wouldn’t let it hold me down anymore.
“My two favorite people in the world!” Mother quickly dashed out of a corner, smiling sheepishly. She has been in her happiest mode seeing me crawl out of my shell a day at a time.
“Dinner will be served in a bit, you can wait at the dining,” she announced.
“No Mother, Emily and I will be in my room, come get us once the dining is set,” I replied and she nodded.
I held onto Emily’s hands and led her towards my room.
“Father, can I sleep here tonight?” She asked immediately we walked in.
It was her second time being in my room, the first time she was here, she couldn’t stop gushing about the elegance.
“Of course, princess, you can sleep here with me, tonight,” I replied.
I noticed her countenance suddenly change, trickles of tears beginning to well up in her eyes.
“Is everything okay? Is it something I said?” I crouched down to the floor to stare into her face.
“Will you remain this way forever Father?” Her words hit me hard across the ear. I could tell she was still finding it hard to adjust to me not being hostile towards her like I used to.
My actions had really hurt her so much. Right now I could see the fear in her eyes, she was scared that I might change towards her again. How could I have done this to my child?
Totally confused about what to do next, I suddenly wrapped my arms around her in a really tight hug.
“Emily, I’m so sorry,” that was all I could mutter as I held her tightly in a warm embrace, my hands stroking her back gently.
After a short while, I pulled away and stared into her face, while arranging her long braided hair. “I know I have been the worst father to you Princess, and I’ve failed you in so many ways, I was only caught up in a really hinged situation, I shouldn’t have let it affect you, and I’m sorry, I promise you everything is fine now, and henceforth, your happiness is my top priority, I’m gonna make up for the lost times, I’m so sorry, okay?”
She nodded her head, a sweet smile now smeared all over her face.
“Do you forgive me?” I asked softly and she nodded her head with a smile.
“Thank you, princess,” I pulled her into my arms again, this time, she raised her tiny hands to wrap around me. I suddenly felt a wave of fulfillment and satisfaction wash over me as I held her in my arms. I suddenly realized that Emily was a light, and she was beginning to illuminate my life.
We suddenly jolted out of each other’s arms as a loud noise broke out from outside.
People were screaming at the top of their voices.
“What’s happening, father?” Emily mumbled.
“Stay here okay? I will go check the situation out,” I scooped her into my arms and laid her properly on the bed, tucking her into the sheets before heading out.
“Killian, what is all the noise about?” Mother asked immediately I walked into the living room.
“I’m going to check it out now, don’t let anyone out of the house until the situation is calm,” I instructed and stormed out.
As I walked closer, tracing the noise, I could hear their screams a lot clearer now. There were tons of the pack members scampering all around, fright written all over their faces.
“Hey, what is this about?” I beckoned to one of them.
“Ghost!” He managed to blurt out, panting heavily.
I felt a sting of anger bit rise at the tip of my stomach as I surged forward. What could be making them this scared?
Walking forward, quickening my step towards the part where the noise was more intense, I couldn’t help but notice the strange sensation beginning to warm up in my veins, I felt my wolf kick uncontrollably as each step brought me closer to the scene.
I suddenly stopped dead on my track as my gaze landed on a figure that I never in my wildest imagination thought that I’d be able to set my eyes on in my lifetime. But it was really her. Elena Salvador. My long lost mate.
Her beauty radiated like the bright morning star. She looked like a fallen angel, her long hair flying to the back, her bright eyes still radiated innocence, even though it radiated a mixture of nervousness and surprise at the moment. I didn’t fail to notice her gown cling to her body, complimenting her curves. She has added weight in the right places.
I stood rooted on the spot, my heart racing uncontrollably, my wolf howled in excitement as my gaze lingered on her.
