Elena’s POV.
I was frozen on the spot. Fear slightly gripping me.
“What’s going on?” I stood to my feet. Darius followed suit.
“Hero! Athena!” Darius yelled.
There was no sign of them anywhere.
We rounded the entire field, yelling their names as loud as we could. Yet nothing.
“Darius, I’m getting scared, what’s happening?” Tears were beginning to well up in my eyes.
“Don’t worry, we’ll find them, they could be around somewhere playing,” he tries to console.
“But we’ve checked everywhere, No, this can’t be happening,” my hands unconsciously flew to my hair, scraping mercilessly in confusion.
We continued walking around the whole pack, inquiring from people as well, but no one seemed to have a good response. An hour had slowly ticked by and it was evident now that they weren’t around the pack. Someone has taken them.
My babies. Who would want to hurt them this way? They are only children, they haven’t done any wrong to anyone.
As I continued to put one leg ahead of the other in search of my kids, it dawned on me that they were really gone, no matter how I tried not to believe it.
I couldn’t take it anymore, my legs wobbled uncontrollably and I collapsed on the floor, a loud scream escaping my mouth. Stream of tears rushed down my cheeks.
At this point, I was frightened to the bone. My heart raced drastically.
Why my innocent babies? Who could have done this to them? I was scared beyond words. Hero and Athena are too little for this.
I wept bitterly as the thoughts of what my little kids could be going through right now in the hands of their abductors flooded my head.
There has to be a way around this. I can’t let this happen.
“Elena please, it breaks my heart to see you like this, I promise you, I’ll find a way around this, even if it takes everything I have.” Darius stood beside me, patting my back soothingly.
His voice was becoming distant, and so was everything around me. It all moved in circles, making my eyes dizzy and shortly, darkness washed over me.
*
I opened my eyes to see myself lying on my bed. Darius was pacing to and from the room.
He sensed my movement and turned to face me.
“Oh goodness! I was going crazy, with the kids, and then you too?” he came to sit beside me.
My heart churned painfully at the mention of my kids. The sad reality of their abduction came rushing back to my head.
“Darius, are they really gone?” Tears rushed down my eyes.
“I’ll recover them as soon as possible, I already sent out my warriors to different suspect locations, I was waiting until you were awake before I joined them.” He replied.
I grabbed his hands tightly, looking deep into his eyes.
“Promise me that you will bring back my kids please, I can’t live without them.” Tears streamed down my cheeks.
He raised my hands to his lips and kissed gently. “I promise you Elena, nothing will happen to our kids, I will do everything within my power to…”
He suddenly trailed off as a loud knock came on the door.
“Who is it?”
“Alpha! I have an urgent message for you,” we heard a voice say from outside. The intensity of his voice sent chills down my body.
Darius quickly stood and rushed towards the door.
I watched as the face of his warrior popped up immediately he opened the door. I strained my ears to listen to them.
“Alpha, this came for you,” he handed a paper to him. “A strange man was here to deliver it, and he mentioned something about some kids in his possession.”
On hearing that, I bolted out of the bed towards them.
“Did you say some kids?” My heart raced rapidly as I stood before him.
“Where is this strange man? Did you keep a tab on him? Is he still within the pack?” Darius asked.
“No, he’s gone.”
“Fuck!” Darius and I cursed simultaneously.
“But I think the paper contains the information that you might want,” he said.
Darius exhaled a deep breath, roughly opening the envelope, and brought out a little paper in it. I peered into it to get a glance.
“Meet me at the pack boundary if you want your kids back.” My heart did a mighty leap as I read the words inscribed on the paper.
Darius squeezed it roughly and threw it across the room.
“Someone is messing with me,” he gritted.
“Elena, I have to go get to the root of this, I will be back.” He turned around to leave.
“I’m coming with you!” I growled.
He turned to face me. “You can’t Elena, this might be dangerous.”
“I’m coming with you Darius, and that is final.” I gritted. There was no way I would sit back while my innocent kids went through such a horrible ordeal. I was determined to fight for them with my last drop of blood.
Seeing that I wasn’t willing to back down, Darius exhaled deeply and ruffled his hair frustratedly. “Fine, hurry.”
I quickly rushed after him and we stormed towards the pack boundary. He ordered the warriors to stay back.
We got to the boundary, but there was no one present.
“Is someone trying to play with us?” Darius mumbled.
“Why would I do that?” I jumped backward in fright as a cold voice sounded at his back.
How is that even possible? No one was there before.
Darius didn’t flinch a bit, I could tell the anger in him had eaten deep at this point. He only turned swiftly to face the strange-looking man. He was oddly huge with strangely long curled hair, his eyes radiated waves of darkness. He generally looked intimidating.
“Bloody Lycan.” I heard Darius mutter under his breath.
A lycan? What business does he have with me and my kids?
“Who are you? And why do you have my kids? What have the innocent kids done to you?” I gritted angrily.
He chuckled mockingly, shaking his head. “The kids have done no wrong to me, but their biological father has stepped on me.”
“What?” I Darius mumbled.
Oh fuck! My past is here to haunt me in the most brutal way possible.
