Killian’s POV.
It’s been a few months since Aria claimed to be pregnant for me. And she has moved into the house as well.
That didn’t in any way imply that I chose her as my second chance mate or mark her as my Luna either.
I allowed her move in so that she and the child would be taken care of, and after that, a place would be prepared, where she and the child would live far away from me. And thank goodness, her delivery date is close by.
I had no plans of getting married to her, it is no concern of mine if she doesn’t find a mate for her lifetime due to her condition, she never thought of that while sneaking into my bed, did she?
Rumors were already flying around but I paid deaf ears to them, I am the Alpha, and no one dictates decisions for me.
There’s only one mate for me and that is Elena, and since she’s gone, no one has the right to that. I was determined to stay mateless till the day I take my last breath. It was my punishment for what I did to her.
My hatred for Aria grew with each passing minute, she was a huge part of the reason why I made the biggest mistake of my life, she stood firmly against Elena that night and bore strong witness while the rest of the community backed her up. Because of the trust I had for her, I sheepishly believed her lies and banished my one true mate. There was no way I could ever forgive her for that, not even on the ground that she was carrying my child.
A child that I have no connection whatsoever with. I tried hard not to detest my child because of our mistake but I couldn’t help but keep my distance as far as I could.
Throughout the long months of pregnancy, I haven’t for a day inquired about the child from her, nor have I come closer to Aria to feel any type of connection with the baby.
Though I made sure everything they needed was provided.
And my mother, Luna Drusilla tried her best to fill in for me.
That was how we have lived for the past months.
I have hoped fervently that her delivery date would draw nearer so that I wouldn’t have to see her face again.
Sometimes I wondered if it would have been this way with Elena.
Within me, I knew it wouldn’t, because I would literally sweep the floor that she walked on, the second I hear she’s pregnant.
If only she was here in place of Aria, carrying my child. I would be the happiest man alive.
“Killian, lunch is ready, and the dining is already set,” I heard her voice behind me as I shot the arrow skillfully at the center point of the slate at the warrior’s training ground.
How did she even find me here?
I ignored her and continued shooting the arrow to the slate, I never missed the center point.
“Killian…”
“I heard you, but I’m not hungry, you can go ahead now,” I snapped at her without turning around to spare her a glance.
I heard no response from her anymore as I continued my exercise, though I could tell she was still standing behind me.
I suddenly heard a whimper behind me; turning around, my gaze landed on her standing still, a few inches away from me, tears streaming down her eyes.
Somehow, I wasn’t moved by the tears in her eyes.
“Why do you hate me so much Killian?” She whimpered.
I exhaled a deep breath, turning fully to face her. “I don’t hate you Aria, I just do not want to see you anywhere around me.”
Her sobs increased as I spoke.
“You are bringing the hatred upon yourself because if you take yourself far away from me, I won’t have to hate you.”
“How do I even stay away? I’m carrying your child!”
“And that automatically makes you favorable to me? If that is what you think then you have a lot to come to terms with,” I spat, watching with no remorse as she cried bitterly.
“Killian, this isn’t us, we used to be so close, what happened to us?”
I croaked out a dry chuckle.
“Us? You ruined what we had Aria, by your own hands, you used to be my best friend, but you ruined that the day you tried to take Elena’s place in my life!” My voice was getting loud now.
She was opening up my old wounds with her little breakdown.
“Mistakes have been made Killian, it’s time to move on, let’s move past this,” she sobbed.
“That’s really bold of you to think that I will ever forgive you for the damage you’ve done in my life, just stay away from me Aria, for your own good,” I turned around and started walking away.
I suddenly halted on my track as I heard her scream so loud. I turned around to see her clutching to her stomach.
“Are you okay?” I took long strides towards her.
She continued screaming bitterly.
“What is going on? Are you alright?” I tried to push my anger away and help her.
“My waist is on fire Killian, I think the baby is coming, my water just broke,” she cried.
“Let me take you to the clinic then,” I held her by the waist and we headed down to the clinic.
She wouldn’t stop screaming, and it irritated me even though I tried to understand her pain.
I exhaled a deep breath of frustration, reaching down and scooped her into my arms. As much as it irritated me, I had no choice, else the baby would be out before we got to the clinic.
“She’s in labor,” I screamed at the midwife immediately I carried her into the clinic.
I quickly dropped her to her feet and the midwives gathered around her, leading her towards an empty bed.
Seeing that I no longer had a business there, I turned around to leave.
“Killian,” I halted on my spot as I heard her call out to me.
“Huh?”
“Don’t go,” she muttered.
Without saying a word to her, I turned to face the head midwife. “Take care of her.” And with that, I turned around and stormed out.
