Elena please, for the sake of your child and your life as well, I need you to push!” She screamed.
“I’m trying Helen, I can’t do more than this,” I cried.
I could see the sadness in her eyes, she was giving up, and so was I.
I never expected things to turn out this way, I had prayed fervently for easy delivery.
“Elena please…” She was beginning to whimper now, tears welling up in her eyes.
I felt my breath fade with each passing second.
Suddenly, the door flew wide open and Darius ran in.
My eyes snapped open as a sudden rush of energy surged through me.
“Elena!” He screamed rushing towards me.
“Darius? What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be in a meeting?” I breathed heavily.
“I suddenly had a bad feeling and I ran home immediately, the house workers informed me that you were brought here,” he held onto my hands tightly. “What’s going on?” He turned towards Helen and asked.
“She’s in labor, but she doesn’t seem to have enough power to push for the baby to come out.”
He turned around to face me.
“I tried all I could Darius, I don’t think I can do this,” I cried.
“Of course, you can, babydoll,” he leaned closer towards me, his hands never leaving mine. “Think about the child, do you not want to hold our little baby in your arms? Do you not want to hear his first words which might probably be your name?”
I sniffed as his words filtered into my ears.
“We are going to be one big happy family babydoll, do you not want that? A lifetime of happiness, but that can only be possible if you stay strong for my sake and the sake of the baby,”
I could feel an unexplainable wave of strength wash over me as his beautiful words overcame me.
I wanted all that he had promised, a lifetime of happiness with my child and an amazing man like him, I wanted all that, and just like he said, if I truly wanted that then I had to be strong and push as hard as possible.
“Okay, I’m going to push again,” I blurted.
His face lit up in a wide smile. “That’s what I’m talking about babydoll, I need you to push hard for me, please.”
I nodded frantically, clutching onto his hand, and pushed really hard.
“That is more like it, now push harder, the baby is almost out.” Helen blurted.
Hearing her announce that my baby was almost out, I summoned the last strength in me and pushed as hard as I could. She kept screaming that I pushed hard and I did. Darius’s hands on mine stroking passionately as if to ease the pain was also a great help.
Shortly afterward, a loud shrieking cry of a baby filled the room.
“The baby is here!” They both screamed.
“Oh praise moon goddess, it’s a baby boy!” Helen announced.
I couldn’t hold back the smile that broke out on my face as I heard the tiny voice of my baby, I was more happy hearing that it was a boy. It instantly eased my pain.
The thought of Killian suddenly flashed through my head. I pictured how happy he would have been if he was here, watching his son come to life.
The heir to his throne.
If only he hadn’t banished me from the pack.
I tried to push the thoughts to the back of my head and enjoy the moment.
Suddenly, I felt my stomach become heavy again, just like I hadn’t pushed out my baby.
“Helen, I think something is wrong, I feel heavy like I haven’t pushed my baby out,” I cried out.
“Hold on a second,” she mumbled leaning forward to examine my belly.
Her face suddenly lit up in a smile. “Oh my goodness, there’s another one coming.”
“What?”
“I know you are tired, but you have to push one more time,” she said.
“You can do this babydoll, I know you can,” Darius whispered.
I nodded my head, breathing heavily. “I can do this!”
With a loud scream, I pushed as hard as possible.
“The baby is out!” Helen screamed, followed by a loud cry of a baby.
My excitement knew no bounds as the tiny voices of my two babies filled the room.
“You did it babydoll, I’m so proud of you,” Darius smiled at me.
“I want to hold my babies,” I muttered weakly.
Darius quickly signaled Helen, who seemed to be cleaning them up, to do as I said.
With the help of one of the midwives, my little babies were placed in my arms.
The strong surge of excitement that washed over me as I held them was unexplainable, I felt like the happiest girl on earth.
I could feel tears welling up in my eyes as I held them tightly to my chest as if they were going to be snatched from me.
I couldn’t believe I was finally here.
The poor omega wolf stepped on by everyone, now a mother of the most beautiful twins I have ever set my eyes on.
I felt a sudden wave of peace surge through me, my eyelids felt heavy and almost immediately, darkness overcame me.
*
I stirred slightly in my sleep and shortly, my eyes flickered open to the most amazing sight.
Darius was leaning over the baby cot, smiling down at the babies.
They weren’t crying anymore making me wonder how he was able to subdue them.
“Darius,” I mumbled and he quickly turned around to face me.
“Oh thank goodness! You are awake,” he left the cot and walked towards me.
“How are you feeling?” He sat beside me on the bed and reached out to hold my hands.
“I am a lot better now,” I smiled.
“I want to see them again,” I requested.
“Of course, c’mon,” he helped me to my feet, his arms wrapped around my waist for support as he led me towards the cot.
A wide smile broke out on my face as I set my eyes on my beautiful children. Taking a proper look at them now, I realized that my boy child had a striking resemblance with his father, it felt like I was staring at the smaller version of Killian. However, my girl child took after me as well. The sight was everything.
I felt Darius’s hands on my waist, stroke gently, pulling me into his body.
“I’m so proud of you.” He whispered.
I slowly raised my hands to his, entwining our hands, and fell back into his safe arms.
