Elena’s POV.
I stirred tiredly in my sleep, I was very much awake but couldn’t bring myself to stand from the bed. Exactly the situation I’ve found myself over the past few days, I’ve been way too tired than normal. I doze off at every little chance I get and I eat a lot too.
The few days I have spent at Greenwoods Pack have been unbelievably refreshing, more than I imagined it to turn out.
My wounds were now healed up, all thanks to Helen, the healer, she never missed a day of treatment, aside that, she visited quite often to keep me company since I didn’t know anyone yet.
Alpha Darius as well, has been a strong pillar, he made sure I lacked nothing, he provided everything I needed to heal faster, making me wonder how someone could be so kind to a total stranger.
I had disregarded Helen’s words to me the day I opened my eyes at Greenwoods Pack testifying how much of a kind man he is, now I could totally agree to that, seeing how amazingly he treated me and the few times that I’ve stepped out of the room, all I saw was his excellent endeavor round the pack, every single pack member sang his praise.
Though it seemed like a small pack but they were rich in everything, and having a good leader crowned it all for them.
Suddenly, I flickered my eyes open as a heavy feeling of nausea hit me, in the speed of light, I bolted out of the bed, towards the bathroom. Once in, I bent over the basin and emptied everything in my stomach. I stood back on the spot catching my breath, after which I cleaned up and headed back to the room.
Barely halfway into the room, it suddenly struck me the condition I was in. The horrible incident back at Crescent Star Pack had clouded my memory, the trauma from the rejection and banishment ate deep into me, and I had totally forgotten that I was with a child. I could remember happily waiting until our mating ceremony to break the news to Killian before my happiness was brutally shattered.
My hands unconsciously fell to my stomach, a wide smile breaking out on my face.
I really was pregnant for a man who rejected me as his mate and banished me without thinking twice.
As ugly as the situation might be, it won’t stop me from cherishing my child. It is of course the best thing that has happened to me so far.
It occurred to me that I sure do have a bigger task at hand. How do I break the news of my pregnancy to Alpha Darius? I haven’t even spoken with him about my ordeal with Alpha Killian, how then do I go about this? What if it doesn’t sit well with him? What if he drives me away? Back to the cold woods that held nothing but terror for me?
So many horrible thoughts ran through my head.
A soft knock on the door suddenly snapped me out of my chain of thought, I quickly fixed my dress, making sure nothing seemed suspicious about me before walking towards the door.
I pulled it open to the smiling face of Helen.
“Hi, Elena, you look well,” she smiled at me.
“It’s all thanks to you,” I returned her smile, moving away from the door to let her in.
“I came bearing good news, your treatment session is over, you are perfectly well and in good shape now,” she said.
“I saw that coming, I mean, there’s not even a single scratch on my body, thank you again, Helen,”
“It’s all thanks to Alpha Darius,” she replied.
Of course it is, he has done more than enough for me since my stay here.
“Do you have a minute, please? I’d love to talk to you about something,” she suddenly blurted and my heart skipped a beat.
What could she possibly want to talk to me about that got her all serious?
“Uhm… Is… Is everything okay?” I stuttered.
“Yeah, absolutely,” she smiled. I could still sense the tension in her smile.
I instantly knew something was up.
“Please sit,” I motioned her to the bed and sat down as well.
“Elena, this might be a lot to process, but I need you to take it with good faith,” she began.
I could feel myself trembling already as she spoke.
“I don’t know if you have seen the signs but I found out during one of our treatment sessions that you are with a child,” she finally broke the news.
“Oh God,” I breathed out deeply, releasing the breath I never knew I was holding.
I was terrified thinking it was something else.
“I waited for the treatment sessions to be over before breaking the news to you to avoid awkwardness between us,” she added.
“I know about it already,” I replied, dragging my gaze to the floor unable to look her in the eyes.
“You knew about your pregnancy this whole time?” She furrowed her brows.
“It’s a bit complicated, I found out about it few days before I left my pack, and the traumatic experience shut me out of connection with the pregnancy,” I tried to explain. “It’s a lot, believe me, I wasn’t trying to hide it or anything,”
“What are you going to do now? You can’t keep this away from Alpha Darius,” she said.
“Yeah I know, I’m trying to figure out how to break it to him,” I replied.
“There’s no way to break it to him other than actually telling him,” she blurted.
“Well, what if he doesn’t take it well? What if he drives me away? I can’t risk it,” I dragged my gaze back to the floor.
“What you can’t risk Elena, is him finding out by himself, it can damage a lot of things, Alpha Darius doesn’t appreciate dishonesty,”
“Believe me, even if he doesn’t take it well, he will never make a decision that would hurt you in your condition, he’s not a cruel man,”
I breathed out heavily as her words rang in my head.
