Seraphina
I was utterly shocked to learn that someone could transform into a werewolf by drinking a potion. The revelation left me so stunned that I rudely interrupted Kael’s phone call with someone else.
Kael nodded at me briefly before ending the conversation on the phone. “Yes, tonight’s werewolf reportedly transformed after being given a potion while walking down the street. They were told it would grant them immense power. They used it, and now they’ve become stronger.”
Hearing Kael’s explanation, my heart began to race uncontrollably, and my breathing grew erratic.
“Who gave it to them? It wasn’t Magnus, was it?” I asked, almost in desperation. God, I didn’t want to hear that name in this context.
Magnus’s obsession with werewolves came to mind, and a chill ran through me. If Magnus ever had the chance to gain such power, I feared he would seize it without hesitation.
“No,” Kael denied firmly.
But his denial did little to ease my nerves. If Magnus hadn’t encountered the potion maker yet, it was only a matter of time.
“What should we do, then? This town is becoming more dangerous by the day. If bad people discover they can gain power like this, they’ll surely use that potion to turn themselves into werewolves!”
Kael must have noticed my fear because he stepped closer and wrapped me in his arms.
“Don’t worry, Seraphina. It’s not as dangerous as it seems. At least, we’ve already discovered one of these werewolves. We’ll find the others too.”
“But you have to catch the person giving out these potions,” I insisted.
“Yes, that’s the key. Who is this person?” Kael frowned deeply, lost in thought. But from his expression, it was clear he didn’t have any leads yet.
“We can’t let more people get involved,” I said anxiously. “I’m afraid there are people out there who crave power so much that they’ll stop at nothing to become werewolves themselves.”
“You’re right,” Kael agreed, his voice heavy with frustration. “But our tribe has long upheld the rule of abiding by human laws while living among them. Damn it! Who’s the bastard that took it upon themselves to turn humans into werewolves?!”
Kael’s anger boiled over as he slammed his fist into the wall, the impact echoing through the room.
“Forget it,” I said gently, trying to soothe him. “Tonight, you’re the main focus. You’ve been exhausted these past few days. Get some rest. We’ll deal with this tomorrow.”
His golden eyes seemed to glow with fury, and I could tell he was genuinely enraged. It was rare for Kael to lose his composure like this, and it only happened when something truly pushed him to the edge.
All I could do now was try to calm him down.
“Seraphina, hold me,” Kael suddenly said, his voice quieter but laden with exhaustion. “I’m so tired. You don’t understand. Between preparing for the boxing match, defeating the Iron Fist Club, and investigating these werewolves and the strange creatures appearing in town, I haven’t had a moment to breathe.”
Hearing Kael’s words, I could feel his weariness. Just listening to everything he’d been dealing with was enough to make me feel drained, let alone going through it all himself.
I stepped forward and embraced him, running my hand gently along his back.
“Alright, alright. We’ll tackle everything one step at a time. You’ve already won the match, so you don’t have another competition coming up soon. That means you can take it easy for a while, doesn’t it?”
“Maybe,” Kael admitted. “But there are still so many things that give me headaches. I want to protect you, Seraphina. Protecting this town is my way of keeping you safe.”
I looked up at him, and he gazed down at me in return. His eyes were so full of emotion, like an ocean threatening to drown me.
Blushing, I quickly lowered my head, trying to steady my racing heart. But as I did, my lips accidentally brushed against his chest.
The warmth of his skin and the firmness of his muscles sent a shiver through me. His chest, still marked with bruises from the match, gleamed slightly in the dim light. Those bruises were his battle scars-a testament to his strength and determination.
Kael chuckled softly, his chest vibrating with the sound.
“So, Seraphina,” he said with a teasing smile, “let’s stop talking about werewolves. How about we talk about my match instead? I won the championship, and you still haven’t given me a reward.”
“A reward?” I asked, tilting my head in confusion.
“Yes, a reward.” Kael’s large hand cupped my face, his palm engulfing my cheeks like I was a small piece of bread in his grasp. He leaned down and kissed me.
The heat of his lips burned through me, igniting a fire in my body. He lifted me onto the table, pinning me beneath him as he parted my legs and pressed himself against me.
I knew there was no escaping this tonight.
Earlier, in the forest, we had come so close to this moment before the werewolf’s sudden appearance interrupted us. Now, there was nothing stopping him.
Kael’s kisses trailed down from my lips to my neck and collarbone. He slipped off my silk nightgown and tossed it aside, his lips continuing their path over my trembling body.
I couldn’t suppress the moans escaping my lips, my desire growing stronger with every touch.
Just then, Evelyn and Judy’s voices echoed from the hallway outside.
“Seraphina’s probably asleep,” Judy said.
“Yeah,” Evelyn agreed. “She didn’t come to the party tonight. Do you think she’s upset? Should I check on her?”
I tensed up immediately, trying to push Kael away, but he showed no intention of letting go.
“Wait, Kael! Evelyn’s coming back!” I whispered urgently.
“I don’t care,” Kael muttered, clearly annoyed. “Every time, we’re interrupted. I’m going to lose my mind.”
His frustration was so palpable that I couldn’t help but laugh softly, even though I felt the same way.
Evelyn’s footsteps receded down the hall, and Kael seized the opportunity to scoop me up and toss me onto the bed.
I dared not make a sound or resist.
Fine. I knew this man had been holding back for too long tonight. If I stopped him now, who knows how much worse it would make things?
The next moment, Kael plunged into me with unrelenting intensity, shattering my thoughts and eliciting a scream I couldn’t hold back.
