Kael
Damn it. When Seraphina invited me to be with her in the wild, my blood felt like it was about to boil over.
I wasn’t the only one thrilled. My wolf, Shadow, was practically ecstatic.
“Kael, this is amazing! I love the wild, the raw, untouched nature. I want to share a pure, physical and spiritual connection with Seraphina right here!” Shadow shouted inside me, ready to break out.
“Stay in. You’ll scare her.” I quickly held him back.
Didn’t he realize how much Seraphina resented werewolves?
“Of course, I know that! But I can’t help it. She’s so adorable, so sweet, like a strawberry cake. Oh, I love this scene. Kael, I want to devour her.”
I understood Shadow’s feelings-because I couldn’t hold back either.
As I kissed Seraphina, I felt the wolfish part of me breaking through. My sharp canines began to show, uncontrollably.
I bit her neck lightly.
When we hunt our prey, our instinct is to snap their necks swiftly.
But Seraphina wasn’t my prey. Or maybe, in some ways, she was.
Still, I couldn’t bear to hurt her. I nibbled gently and then let go.
Tonight, I decided Seraphina was going to be my strawberry cake. And I was going to savor every inch of her body, slowly.
My soul trembled, and Shadow howled crazily inside me.
But just then, I caught the scent of another werewolf.
The smell grew stronger, closing in on us.
Damn it. Desire burned inside me like fire, but before I could release it, I had to deal with something else.
I couldn’t let anyone witness me and Seraphina like this.
With a cold expression, I helped her fix her clothes and gave her instructions.
Seraphina, obviously surprised, tugged at my hand.
“Kael, what’s wrong?”
“There’s a werewolf nearby. I think it’s the one I couldn’t catch last time. The scent is familiar,” I said.
“You and Marek should leave.”
“Will you be in danger?”
“Don’t worry. I won’t-”
Before I could finish, a massive wolf leaped out of the woods.
I summoned Shadow to block its attack.
“Run!” I yelled back at Seraphina.
Marek appeared just in time, wrapping his arms around her. The two of them vanished instantly.
Now, I could deal with the wolf in front of me.
But this werewolf didn’t seem interested in fighting me. His glowing eyes were fixed on where Seraphina had disappeared. He bolted in her direction.
I quickly blocked his path.
Enraged, he attacked me in a frenzy.
I grabbed him and slammed him to the ground.
His massive wolf form crashed into the trees, breaking several trunks.
Realizing he couldn’t defeat me, he turned and tried to run.
There was no way I’d let him escape this time.
I chased him, quickly overtaking him and cutting him off.
He froze, tense and desperate.
He tried to flee in another direction, but I blocked him again.
“You can’t run,” I growled, commanding Shadow to pin him down.
He fought back violently, thrashing and roaring.
Thankfully, no one was around. No one would witness this.
I slammed him into the ground again and pinned him with all my weight.
“Who sent you?” I demanded, staring into his glowing violet eyes.
This was a low-level werewolf, even weaker than Marek.
He only knew how to roar and struggle aimlessly, like a child throwing a tantrum.
It was easy to subdue him.
But I didn’t feel at ease.
Suddenly, the black wolf shifted into human form.
When I saw his face, I froze.
“Why is it him?” Even I, usually calm, couldn’t stop myself from exclaiming.
Shadow was equally shocked. “Yeah, why him? Isn’t he human?”
The unconscious man lying naked before me was none other than Lucian.
Damn it. No matter how hard I racked my brain, I never would’ve guessed Lucian was a werewolf.
But how? Someone like him couldn’t possibly hide it so well.
Lucian had been absent from the club for days. I thought he was just sick and had taken some time off. I hadn’t cared.
Seraphina had returned to the club part-time, and if Lucian saw her, he’d definitely pursue her again.
During Lucian’s absence, I didn’t even think about him.
In fact, I’d been planning ways to keep him away from Seraphina.
I even wished he’d never come back to the club.
I knew he was Seraphina’s past, but I couldn’t help feeling jealous. She had been with him once.
They had loved each other deeply.
She had wanted to go public with their relationship, which showed how much she had cared for him.
Now, she wouldn’t even let me make our relationship public.
Even how we met was tied to her revenge on Lucian.
How could I not envy him? Not hate him?
Even though Seraphina no longer loved him, the fact that they had once been in love was enough to drive me crazy.
I pulled Lucian up and studied him, trying to understand how he had become a werewolf.
Without his wolf form, he seemed utterly human.
Werewolves didn’t look like this.
Still, I decided to take him to Frederick for help.
Frederick might have answers.
I brought Lucian to a hospital, one where the director was one of my father’s subordinates.
Before arriving, I contacted David.
As soon as we got there, David met us. “Kael, what brings you here?”
His eyes fell on Lucian. “What happened to him?”
I dumped Lucian on a hospital bed. “I suspect he was attacked by a werewolf and turned into one. He was human before.”
I was 99% sure Lucian had been an ordinary human.
But now, he seemed like a low-level werewolf-violent, mindless, and completely feral.
I hoped David could find out the truth.
