There was an hour glass pool outside in the backyard. I noticed that guards were watching me because they knew I would run at chance I got.
I sat at the edge with my legs in the water, I had just finished eating some fruits that Solis had made me eat, for our baby, he said.
I stared up at the clear blue sky, why haven’t Christian found me yet?
He always found anyone, where ever they hid.
“I can see that you’re adding flesh, it’s been one week you’ve been here” Ruiz told me as if I wasn’t counting.
February would soon be here, it was only a matter of days, it’s been almost a month and I haven’t seen Christian. I missed him so bad. Ruiz sat at the edge of the pool too, his were longer than mine, he was wearing red beach short.
“Fuck you, Ruiz”
“That’s been your reply to everything I’ve said to you since the past week, the girls think you’re a zombie ”
“Maybe I am”
He sighed and jumped into the water, he stayed at the bottom far too long, he had my heart beating in a frenzy but he broke out of the surface before I could have a panic attack.
“Solis tells me you still sleep on the couch”
I acted as if I didn’t hear what he said and I turned my gaze to the sky.
“Your hair looks really good this way you know, I can see your pretty neck”
“Aren’t you so fucked up, Ruiz. You want to fuck me so bad, don’t you?”
He laughed and nodded his head.
“I never hid my attraction for you, Jenna” he said and disappeared under the water again.
He came up again and slipped his hair backwards with his hands.
He had tattoos on his arms and chest. Christian never had any tattoos, Christian never smoked, he rarely even drank alcohol… And yet he was sexy to a fault.
“What are you thinking of, your boyfriend?”
“It’s funny how you don’t even know who my fiance is. If you knew, I’m sure I won’t be here”
“I’m sure I don’t care, Solis doesn’t care either”
“Who to you then”
Ruiz laughed.
“You and your empty threats, you’ve been making these threats here and there for the past week”
“I’m just trying to warm you, when it happens, don’t say I didn’t tell you”
He climbed out of the water and slipped his hair back with his hands.
“Get up, we’re going to the hospital”
With that he disappeared, if I didn’t know better I would say he ran away.
I felt eyes burning holes in my skull and I turned around to see Solis staring at me… I put two and two together and understood the reason why Ruiz left.
I’ve been looking everywhere for you”
Hospital, I’ve been going for the last one week.
Getting so many shots because they said I lacked a lot of things. Solis was determined to get me healthy, shows how much he really wants this baby, my baby, Christian’s baby. He didn’t even want me to miss a day.
I stood up from the pool and walked towards him.
“I was just sitting there”
“You and Ruiz… What’s going on between you two?”
My eyebrows crinkled in my forehead as I watched him.
“What?”
“I saw him laughing, a couple of times. You never say anything funny to me”
He was jealous. I smiled internally but I didn’t want to respond. The one week I have been here made me realize that Solis was quiet but lethal, I didn’t know what he would do to me if he thinks that I was having anything with his first in command.
“He was laughing at my misery. I don’t want to be here, not with Ruiz and not with you”
“Go inside, Greta is waiting for you” he ordered.
I walked to the bedroom, eager to get away from his chilling presence. He could be scary sometimes.
Greta was waiting in the room when I went.
“Here is your dress”
I took it from her and started shedding my old clothes.
“What’s wrong?” She asked me softly.
I smiled at her and shook my head
“Solis can be unnerving sometimes ” I admitted.
She looked down at her feet as if she wanted to say something but didn’t want to.
I touched her arm.
“What?”
She turned to the door.
“You know, I never knew that he would end up in a wheelchair. He was so full of life, so immortal. He was such an agile and fit man, always smiling and laughing. When the accident happened, he became sadder and sadder everyday and nothing has changed. I’m sorry you had to come under the condition that you did but he just wants a child.
Greta was someone I could talk to. Since the past week, I wouldn’t say we’ve bonded, we’ve merely come to an understanding. But, she was nice and she took good care of me, I didn’t complain.
“He could just sleep with any one of the girls” I countered.
“No, he’s impotent, the accident took that way too. I think he regrets not having a child all those years when he had the chance”
O felt pity for him once more but before I could tell Greta something heartless to justify my hate for him, the door opened and Willy pushed him into the room.
I was standing naked.. naked, his eyes lustfully dragged over my body.
I took the dress and started putting it in quickly.
Greta and Willy left us alone.
“The scan we did some days ago would be ready for us to collect today ” Solis said
I went to sit in front of the vanity he had installed for me in his bedroom. I was happy for the small personal space, if only he would give me my own bed, I couldn’t stand another night on that chair. But, I guess he knew and I knew it was his plan. I would get tired of the bed and turn to him.
But since he was impotent, I guess there was nothing he could do to me.
