The nurses were nice here, everyone was nice to Solis and it seemed as if they wanted to make him happy, if he was a bad person, people would hate him, wouldn’t they? Now, as the doctor walked into the room, I didn’t know if he was grinning because he was happy Solis was here or there was really good news that I was going to hear today.
Solis was holding some pamphlets and going through them as I sat opposite him, he was so engrossed in what he was reading about.
As I read the cover, I saw the topic was about pregnant woman’s health. He was so focused that he didn’t hear the doctor walk in, until the doctor cleared his throat to make himself known.
Reluctantly Solis lifted his head away from his precious pamphlet and turned to the man. They spoke shortly in Spanish but I would not let them discuss about me and still exclude me in the discussion. I cleared my throat. Both heads turned to me and I couldn’t read the expression on Solis’s face, it was raw and his eyes were filled with so much emotions, I was worried and anxious.
My heart was beating in my chest like a drum, am I still malnourished? Is us affecting my baby?
“I’m sorry amor” he called me that in front of everyone these days. I frowned at the endearment but I didn’t complain, now was not the time or place. I raised an eyebrow asking him the silent question. He cleared his throat and turned to the doctor, every second he looked more… Touched and moved by what the doctor told him.
The doctor pitied me and handed me the big manila, he grinned down at me as if he was expecting a certain expression from me. I opened the envelope and looked inside before pulling out two scans that had been printed out.
“So, what am I staring at?”
Solis took one of them from me but didn’t bother to explain.
“Jesus, fucking say something!” I yelled.
“You’re pregnant with triplets” Solis said softly and suddenly I understood everything his eyes said. He was happy, glad, exited.. surprised and shocked too.
I couldn’t blink.
“What?” I asked absent mindedly.
“She really is carrying triplets?” Solis asked the doctor who was at the blink of shedding tears of joy.
I stood up from my seat, I couldn’t believe it. Christian needed to hear this, my heart was swelling until I remembered that I was sold off to another man and I was in another country. And that man was going to be the father of my kids.
“Jenna, sit” Solis pointing to the chair.
“I want to go back” I said staring out of the window as if I could pin down the map, I didn’t know my way around here.
“Jenna” Solis said sternly but I could hear them happiness in his voice and also the fear, he wanted this badly and he was sure of getting it.
This morning he woke up thinking it was just one child, now he found out that they’re three, he would never let me go.
“Please, let me go back home”
“Leave us” he told the doctor who nodded and disappeared.
Ruiz entered immediately and he looked between us.
“I want to go back, take me back home” I yelled.
Ruiz held me tight and pushed me down on the chair.
“Careful! Get your hands off her! Do you want to hurt her?!”
“I’m sorry boss”
Ruiz quickly left my arms and his eyes fell to the scan, he was a dummy, he wouldn’t understand it but he could understand the look in his boss’eyes.
“There’s more than one?” He asked.
“Three ” Solis whispered. He ran his fingers through his hair and a laugh broke out, the first time I heard him laugh since I got here.
Ruiz on the other hand was more shocked then me.
“Call the nurses” Solis told Ruiz.
Ruiz left and I turned to Solis.
“Please, what can I do? I’ll give you anything”
“I’m sorry I can’t let you go. You’re a blessing, Jenna. A blessing”
“My fiance should be the one with me, he should be the one hearing this news!”
“He is not. You would have to learn to love me Jenna. We’re getting married ”

KYLEE
It was scary to be around him. No one, not even Wayne could last ten seconds in his presence. He went back to being the former Christian. That one that was like a robot. It wasn’t until a month ago that I realized how much of a difference Jenna had made. She did too much for him and for his friends.
Only that this time it was worse. He was worse. I went to be crying because my best friend was deteriorating as there was nothing I could do.
I cleared my throat as I stepped into the room. He had moved to his pent house, in the bubbling side of the city. Where rich men like to party, in hopes that he would see Jenna.
He hosted parties in an expensive hotel not far away from his home, every Fridays and Saturdays, the place was always on fire. Filled with girls and men.. drugs and alcohol.. and every body that entered got scanned, every conversation was recorded, he was searching for any mention of Jenna. Of course we didn’t find anything but gossip, and then he started making them answer these questionaires.
He had torn the country upside down, every living and walking didn’t go unnoticed.
As always, he didn’t acknowledge my presence, he sat in a very big arm chair and yet he was bigger than it. Alongside going crazy he spends his days in the gym or in shooting ranges. The tall Christian was not taller, the muscular Christian was now Aimee muscles and pure strength. He’s been banned from multiple boxing rings in the city and now he pays people tons to fight with them in his private boxing center.
“Uhm, Christian?”
He didn’t turn to me, he just stared out of the window. I turned and walked in front of him, my heart was pounding in my chest and my hands were shaking.
I stood in front of him, his gaze landed on me and what I saw was cold darkness.
