Chapter 981: Ahmad Does Not See Visitors

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2025-3-27

The sky lightened as the sun slowly climbed, the weather was perfect.
The convoy of wedding cars stretched long, spaced ten meters apart. All of Ylosea knew that the Oconnor Group’s CEO was getting married today, no longer in secret but with a grand public ceremony.
Inside one of the cars, Nelson sat in the back seat, dressed formally, looking thoughtful.
Bridger was about to say something when his phone vibrated. Anthony was calling. “Mr. Oconnor, we found Joaquin. He’s been close to a woman named Karlee. I’ve checked her out; she doesn’t seem to be anyone special.”
Nelson’s lips were pressed together. “Have you done a background check? Who are her connections?”
“We have. They’re all insignificant people. Moreover, Joaquin is not in our hands; he’s being held by another force at the border between Anbusea and Ylosea.”
“Who?” Nelson narrowed his eyes.
At that moment, the vehicle arrived at the Ellison family residence, and the bodyguards got out first.
“It’s the Ellison family matriarch, Sienna’s people.”
He looked up just in time to see Sienna standing at the door, waiting gracefully.
“Find out the reason and make sure to rescue him.” Nelson paused. “Inform me immediately when you have news.”
He hung up the phone, got out of the car, and walked up to Sienna, greeting her respectfully. “Sienna.”
Sienna never hid her admiration for him. She nodded. “After today, I’m your mother-in-law.”
Nelson stood amidst the bustling scene, his expression still calm. He asked, “Where is Mr. Ellison?”
“He… isn’t feeling well today and will arrive at the wedding later. Some formalities might not be observed; I hope you understand.”
Sienna had received the notice last minute.
Nelson seemed thoughtful but showed no objection. “It’s alright.”
Daylight broke.
Callie woke from a daze, her whole body aching, her throat too hoarse to speak. Even moving her vocal cords felt like grinding against stones.
The bald man and his companions were still playing cards, ignoring her.
She looked at the distant blue sky, feeling as if she was about to die in the wilderness.
Today was Nelson and Charlotte’s wedding, and it could very well be her last day alive in this world.
How bitter. She never wanted to come back in her next life.
The bald man noticed her staring blankly into the distance and, for some reason, said, “The wedding starts later. Think about what you want to say to your family. If I’m in a good mood, I might pass it on for you.”
Callie scoffed, her voice raspy. “A killer still with good instincts.”
The bald man slammed his cards down angrily. “Stop talking nonsense. You only get this one chance.”
Final words… Callie looked up. Her only real family was Reuben, but she hadn’t found him yet. She felt guilty for not repaying his kindness.
As for Joaquin, he would soon know everything. She hoped he wouldn’t blame her then.
Her biological parents… they wouldn’t accept the news of their real daughter’s death. They couldn’t verify the truth and would continue to treat Charlotte as their own.
Charlotte had succeeded in taking over everything that was hers.
Death would be a relief; everything would be clean, and she wouldn’t have to live under the burden of so-called moral shackles anymore.
Callie felt almost hopeless.
Meanwhile, Nelson entered the Ellison family residence but did not go to see Charlotte immediately. Instead, he requested a meeting with Ahmad but was stopped by a servant.
“Sorry, Mr. Ellison is not seeing visitors today.”
“Not even me?”
“Yes.”
