This match was bound to be a tough one. Kael had finally encountered a rare and formidable opponent. Briar, with his striking good looks and undeniable skill, had risen to become a crowd favorite, rivaling Kael in popularity. Some of the girls who had once admired Kael now found themselves drawn to Briar.
Speculation was rife. Would Briar defeat Kael and claim the title of boxing champion? Others were rooting for Kael, hoping he’d emerge victorious once again.
I couldn’t help but feel a little anxious. While I had no doubt about Kael’s strength, Briar was undeniably a force to be reckoned with.
Evelyn returned home around noon. The moment she saw me, she grabbed my hand excitedly.
“Seraph, how are you so calm? Aren’t you going to get ready? We’re going to the match tonight!”
I looked at Evelyn, startled by her urgency. “I thought you weren’t going to the match.”
“Of course, I’m going! I ran into Kael on the way here. He personally gave me three tickets and told me to make sure you came along. Seraph, I’m so jealous of you! You’ve got such amazing men around you. Whether it’s Magnus or Kael… you’re so lucky!”
Evelyn’s envious gaze made me laugh as I lightly pushed her face away. “Alright, stop looking at me like that. You have Judy, don’t you? She’s someone who can truly make you happy. As for me… there’s no guarantee I’ll end up with either of them.”
Ever since Magnus had shown excitement about encountering werewolves, I’d started feeling like I should keep my distance from him. I hadn’t spoken to him in days.
As for Kael… I wasn’t sure how long our relationship could last. Though he often gazed at me with deep affection and we’d shared countless intimate moments, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we wouldn’t work out. Someday, he might grow tired of me.
Evelyn’s face lit up with a happy smile when I mentioned Judy. “You’re right. I’ll make sure to cherish her.”
“But, Seraph, we’re going to cheer for Kael tonight. You should dress up-look your best!”
“I don’t have anything to wear,” I admitted after thinking about it. It had been a long time since I’d bought new clothes.
“No problem! You can borrow one of my tops. We’re about the same size-though I’m a bit shorter. You’ll have to wear your own pants, though.”
Evelyn dashed into her room, rummaging through her wardrobe. Eventually, she tossed me a pink, cropped camisole covered in sparkling sequins.
“Wow, this is… really sexy. But honestly, Evelyn, I don’t think I can pull this off,” I said hesitantly.
I’d never worn anything this revealing before. The bright pink color alone made me frown. It was far too vibrant and girly for my taste. I instinctively wanted to refuse.
“Come on, Seraph! You’ve got such a great figure-you’ll look amazing in this. Trust me,” Evelyn insisted. “Besides, you know Vivienne will show up tonight looking drop-dead gorgeous. You don’t want her to outshine you, do you?”
I thought about all of Kael’s matches. Vivienne always dressed provocatively, making herself the center of attention. She’d bring her cheerleader friends to loudly support Kael, too. Tonight would probably be no different.
Evelyn was right-I didn’t want to lose to Vivienne. While I’d never taken her seriously, her constant provocations annoyed me. She thought I was just a nerd who didn’t belong with someone like Kael.
Well, tonight, I’d show her.
I grabbed the top from Evelyn and smiled. “You’re right, Evelyn.”
Evelyn let out a sigh of relief. “That’s the spirit! You’re way prettier than that bitch. Sure, she can dress well and has a great body, but when it comes to looks, you’ve got her beat. Honestly, your figure is just as good, if not better. Go on, Seraph-dress up and show her who’s boss. No matter how Kael’s match turns out, we can’t let Vivienne outshine us!”
I returned to my room and changed into the top Evelyn had given me. It was undeniably sexy-so thin it felt like it could tear with the slightest effort. The fabric clung to my upper body, accentuating my slim waist.
For the bottom, I chose a pair of loose blue jeans. If both my top and bottom were too revealing, I’d feel uncomfortable. This combination struck the right balance.
Still, the pink camisole was far too bright and lively for my usual style. Its glittery sequins made me feel self-conscious. I looked at the tall girl in the mirror, took a deep breath, and clenched my fists.
You’ve got this, Seraphina. Be confident.
I had a good figure-curves in all the right places. Normally, I dressed in loose, casual clothes to keep a low profile. It made me feel more secure. At school, people called me a boring bookworm, and I’d leaned into that persona to avoid being the center of attention.
But now, I wanted to change.
After putting on the outfit, I tied my hair into a high ponytail and applied light makeup.
When I stepped out, Evelyn had also finished getting ready. She was dressed in all black-a black camisole paired with loose black pants and black sneakers. Her makeup featured dark eyeshadow and deep red lipstick.
She’d accessorized with multiple earrings, and I noticed a fake nose ring glued to her nose. Her entire look immediately reminded me of Judy. Today, Evelyn was channeling Judy’s rebellious style.
“Is that a tattoo on your arm?” I asked, noticing a large floral design.
Evelyn grinned. “Oh, right! I forgot to tell you. Judy and I got matching tattoos recently. Cool, right? It’s all flowers and plants.”
“Even your tattoos are eco-friendly,” I teased.
Evelyn laughed, clearly pleased with herself. “Of course! We’re all about sustainability. I wouldn’t give that up for anything.”
Then she grabbed my face and examined my makeup. “Seraph, your look isn’t cutting it. Let me fix it for you. You need to exude queen energy tonight, okay?”
