Chapter 83

Book:The Alpha King's Hybrid Mate Published:2025-3-24

“My Alpha, are we going to ignore the moon priestess warnings? I am sure she said those words for no reason.” One of the elders chipped in during the council meeting with Killian.
Killian sighed, brushed his hair with his hand and shook his head.
“It troubles me also. I don’t understand what she meant by those words she said to Sara. Or does she imply that we use Sara as a sacrifice? That can’t be possible.” Another elder added after Killian took a while to respond.
Killian glanced at the two elders, they were elder Maxwell and elder Keon. Both of them had opposed him violently when he wanted to ascend the throne as the alpha of the pack.
It’s not surprising to him if they were actually pressuring him to use Sara as a sacrifice.
“I don’t think that’s what she meant, elder Keon. There is something you guys don’t know, and I am ready to tell you now.” Killian paused to take a deep breath. He tightened his grip around his chair, realizing the weight of what he was about to say.
“Sara is a hybrid, and not just any hybrid. She is of both wolf and witch descent.” Killian said, which was accompanied by a huge murmur which swept across the hall.
“What? A witch descent? We all know that Wolves and witches can’t cohabit. What if one day, her witch powers are invoked and she uses it against us wolves, aren’t we dead by then?” Elder Maxwell screamed, his eyes bulging out of his sockets.
“I can’t believe you hide that from us, Alpha Killian. We are a council, you should have informed us since. What if something goes wrong, will you be able to take the responsibility alone?” Elder keon hurriedly added, serving as a solid backup behind Maxwell.
Both Maxwell and Keon had firmly stood behind Leon and had opposed him with all they had.
“He is a bastard who doesn’t even have a mother.” Elder Maxwell had said.
Killian tightened his fist around the chair even more as memories of those days flowed in his brain.
“I mean…what if she kills someone? What if the witches come to claim her? What…”
“Enough!” Killian’s roaring voice sent the words back into Maxwell’s mouth as his mouth hung in astonishment.
Killian slapped his arm on the chair and angrily stood up.
“The moon goddess knew what she was doing when she made her my mate. Whoever has questions should direct them to the moon goddess and not me!” He yelled, dashing his eyes around before resting them on Maxwell and Keon.
“You kept on saying that what if she hurts someone, throughout her stay in the pack, can you please point out someone she had hurt before? Or was it not you guys who kept on framing and pushing her to the wall? Shouldn’t you be ashamed of yourselves? Teaming up to bully a weak lady!”
“Let me tell you something, elders. Sara is my mate, and I will do anything to protect her! Forget about sacrifice or killing or whatever…if you want to sacrifice someone so badly, then you can as well sacrifice yourselves then.” Killian yelled as he marched out of the hall.
He suddenly stopped and sighed;
“I will ask the moon priestess about the details and will give everyone of you a clear answer.” He stated before storming out, heading towards Sara’s room.
“Sara.” He called out as he entered the room. Sara giggled and ran towards him.
She suddenly stopped when she noticed his sour expression.
“What’s wrong? How did the meeting go?” Sara inquired, gently pulling Killian towards a seat.
“It’s fine. We just discussed what the moon priestess said to you the day you arrived.” Killian replied to her. Sara slowly withdrew her arm from his neck and sighed.
“Truth be told, It has been bothering me also.” She responded, and instantly turned to face Killian.
“Did they make it hard on you? Those elders can be annoying.” Sara said hurriedly. She grabbed a napkin and wiped off Killian’s sweat.
“No…not at all. I told them I will ask the moon priestess for a clearer explanation and will get back to them.” Killian replied to her.
Sara nodded her head and faced Violet, who was scrubbing the floor absent-mindedly.
Sara called her the first time, but got no response. She called the second and third time before Violet realized she was being called.
“My lady, I am sorry. What do you need me for?” Violet asked hurriedly, her eyes glued to the floor as she prevented eye contact with Sara.
“Can you please get me a cup of water for Killian.” Sara said to her with a smile, while she bowed and hurried out of the room.
“She has been aloof over the past few days. I suspect something is wrong with her, she has been keeping a distance and has not been diligent in her work. That’s unlike her. Sara relayed her worries to Killian immediately Violet walked out of the room. Killian was a bit surprised by Sara’s words, he turned to her and asked her;
“Did you try to ask her about it? Maybe she could open up to you.”
“I did… many times, but she wouldn’t say a thing, so that’s why I thought of telling you, maybe you could help. I am afraid someone is bothering her, and she doesn’t want to tell us about it.” Sara explained, and before Killian could talk, Violet walked in with a tray in her hands. She handed over the cup of water to Killian, her hands trembling slightly as she watched Killian raise the cup to his mouth.
“The powder is colorless, odorless and tasteless. So you have nothing to fear. Just spike his drink with it, and show no signs of timidness, that’s all. Also, it will take a very long time before it takes effect, that way, no one would suspect you, okay?” The words replayed in her head exactly as Betty had said to her that night.
A part of her wanted to stop Killian from drinking the water, while another part reminded her of what was at stake…her brother.
Killian gulped down the water, sighed and raised his head sharply at Violet, with a smirk plastered on his face.
“Violet…” He called out in a daunting tone, staring straight into Violet’s eyes which made her panic for a while.
“What did you add inside this water?”
“What?”
