It seemed this person was the instigator, their leader.
Callie used all her strength to pinch her palm, clearing her mind. She straightened up and opened her eyes to see who it was.
After listening to the bald man’s report, the person finally walked towards her.
“You are tough.” Accompanied by a familiar voice, Callie saw the person’s face clearly.
It was a face very similar to hers, not particularly beautiful, rather plain, but their eyes were bright and stubborn.
-Charlotte!
Callie merely frowned, seemingly unsurprised, just looking at Charlotte.
Charlotte closed her umbrella and stood in front of her, looking somewhat puzzled. “You don’t seem surprised.”
“I guessed it.” Callie sneered.
In Ylosea, no one would want her to disappear more than Charlotte.
“The rain was heavy last night. I slept well. How do you feel?” Charlotte looked at Callie meaningfully.
She was soaked, her face pale, looking very miserable.
Just seeing her like this gave Charlotte a sense of satisfaction.
“As you can see.”
Charlotte had been watching her all along. How much did she know? Callie thought quickly.
Charlotte paced around her slowly, making a circle. “I never thought Nelson would let you go abroad. He made all the arrangements for you. You are really lucky.”
Since failing to teach Callie a lesson at the bar and being saved by Nelson, she had been having people watch Callie. She felt relieved when she saw Callie heading to the airport but didn’t expect that Callie hadn’t left.
“As you wished, I didn’t leave.”
“If you had left, would you have become a mistress hiding in the shadows?” Charlotte bent down, looking at Callie, and said slowly, “You are shameless.”
However, being scolded like this didn’t anger Callie. She looked at Charlotte with a very contemptuous gaze, as if looking at garbage.
She suddenly laughed lightly.
Charlotte’s expression changed. “What are you laughing at?”
“I’m laughing because the shameless person is clearly you. How can you scold me so righteously?” Callie adjusted her sitting posture, looking bored. “Even if you kill me today, I am still Nelson’s first wife. After marrying you, he still wants to keep me hidden away. That’s an undeniable fact.”
“You!”
These words obviously provoked Charlotte. She took a deep breath and held back her anger.
“You are too self-righteous, Callie. Who do you think you are? You were just a mistress who came between Nelson and me. If I hadn’t gone missing back then, would there have been any place for you?”
She said this with such confidence that it stunned Callie. She had completely assumed Maevelyn’s identity. Had she worn the mask for so long that she couldn’t take it off anymore…
Jaquan’s incident happened so suddenly that he probably didn’t have time to tell her that she already knew her true identity. That’s why she dared to speak so boldly.
This was a good thing.
Callie’s smile widened. “Then why did you kidnap me? You’re about to get married. Are you so insecure? Do you really think I would compete with you?”
“Enough, Callie! Stop pretending not to care. I hate your high and mighty attitude!” Charlotte turned and took the knife from the bald man’s hand, pressing it against her face.
“Clearly, we are the same kind of people. Why should all the benefits go to you!”
