Chapter 316: Out of the Game

At the back gate post, amidst the hazy lights and bustling crowd, Tia and her team were hiding in the booth, shedding their city management uniforms, wiping off their makeup, and changing into the Brigade of Light security outfits.
One of them swiftly tapped on a computer, connecting to the Brigade of Light’s radio channel and surveillance system.
The team leader of the Brigade of Light looked frustrated as he instructed his companions to maintain order after withdrawing from confrontation and then cooperated with Tia to hand over items from the booth.
He never imagined he would lose so badly. He and his companions had been scrutinizing photos to intercept those entering, hoping to block Tia’s entry.
But unexpectedly, these women staged a play. They first reported to city management about severe illegal vending at the back gate obstructing traffic and then disguised themselves as city management officers following behind.
When city management chased after vendors in chaos, Phoenix Squad approached the security guards and suddenly attacked, taking down thirty people.
Their shooting was precise and at close range, almost never missing a shot. Thirty people were hit before they could even draw their weapons.
Though feeling somewhat aggrieved, this batch of Brigade of Light members accepted defeat willingly, as their sensors declared them out.
“Patrol Team Three, Patrol Team Three!”
At this moment, the booth leader was shocked to find a short-haired woman holding a radio, calmly watching the surveillance on the computer screen as she sent out a distress call to the nearest patrol team.
“Suspicious individuals spotted at the back gate checkpoint. Request your patrol team’s cooperation. Location-the fountain by the west gate.”
The patrol team responded without hesitation and rushed over.
The booth leader and his subordinates were not surprised by Tia’s strategy but were shocked by hearing the short-haired woman’s voice.
Her pronunciation was identical to that of the booth leader, making it impossible to distinguish between real and fake.
Disguise, computers, mimicry, combat skills, and marksmanship… these female warriors truly had overwhelming combat power.
Ten minutes later, a twelve-member patrol team arrived at the fountain by the west gate. Before they could assess their surroundings, they were surrounded by Tia’s team dressed in security uniforms.
Instinctively trying to resist but finding themselves in an open area without cover, they fired a few shots before being taken down by Tia’s team.
Two patrol cars were seized. With a wave of Tia’s hand, six women stepped forward. Three of them hopped into a vehicle, loaded with ammunition, and drove off in a patrol car.
Five minutes later, adhering to the rules, several booth leaders returned straight to the village committee building to report to Darnell and Noemi without contacting any Brigade of Light members.
After Noemi heard their report, her eyes showed a hint of admiration. “Unpredictable tactics. I underestimated them.”
Leroy remained unimpressed, commenting with some male chauvinism, “It’s just one checkpoint and a patrol team. The Brigade of Light has only lost forty-two men.”
“Garrett still has over eighty percent of his forces left.”
“Even though Garrett doesn’t know the checkpoint and patrol team were wiped out. The remaining checkpoints will definitely notice something amiss, and they’ll tighten their defenses.”
Darnell chuckled at this. “Leroy makes a good point.”
“Beep beep beep!”
At that moment, the screen emitted a sharp sound again, and everyone looked up, eager to see if the checkpoints had discovered something and if both sides had begun to clash on the spot.
To Noemi and the others’ surprise, the five checkpoints leading to the command center were intact, but the last one had once again been completely wiped out.
Ten members of the Brigade of Light were ambushed from behind by Tia and her team, with no time to react before they were all taken down.
Noemi and the others were not only surprised but also puzzled. How had Tia’s team bypassed the first five checkpoints and appeared directly at the last one?
From what Garrett had set up, those checkpoints were secure, and there was no way Tia could launch an attack without the Brigade of Light noticing.
Was it that Tia was too skilled, or was the Brigade of Light simply incompetent?
Everyone pondered this question, but no answers surfaced.
However, everyone knew that if Garrett couldn’t be made aware of the loss at the last checkpoint in time and redirect forces back, it would mean the first five checkpoints would be rendered useless, and the command center would be facing Tia’s onslaught, especially since both sides were only fifty meters apart.
Ten minutes later, the members who had exited the confrontation rushed back to the village committee, looking somewhat sheepish. They handed a map to Darnell with great respect, saying, “Mr. Halford, Tia had me bring this to you. She said the key to winning through the checkpoints is all on here.”
With a rustle, Darnell glanced at the screen and then opened Tia’s map with a look of astonishment. He laughed and said, “In this battle, Tia has an eighty percent chance of winning.”
Noemi, Leroy, and the others also stood up to take a look, all equally dumbfounded, their faces betraying their admiration. This was a map of Woodsea.
Not only did it mark the structure of each building, but it also detailed the situation of each household, including shop opening and closing times.
Roads, sewers, and drainage wells were all marked.
The checkpoints and patrol routes established by the Brigade of Light, along with their travel times, were meticulously documented by Tia.
One could say that the entire situation in Woodsea was captured on this map.
A red line from the west gate checkpoint to the last checkpoint particularly caught everyone’s attention. Noemi took a closer look and sighed, “This is the rainwater drainage tunnel that was abandoned five years ago.”
“Even I, the village head, had forgotten about it. I never thought she would find it.”
Noemi briefly explained to Darnell, “The sixth checkpoint and the square used to flood easily, so they dug a tunnel to drain directly into the small river behind the west gate checkpoint.”
“That tunnel was poorly constructed, only to facilitate drainage without considering other consequences.”
“Later, when that river was filled in, the water from the drainage tunnel had nowhere to go, causing it to accumulate at the back gate, reaching depths of a meter.”
“It often took ten days to half a month before it could dry out.”
“This was detrimental to traffic and businesses at the back gate, so the government had to build other drainage routes to divert the rainwater from the village.”
“The original rainwater tunnel was shut down, and I never expected Tia would find out and make use of it. She must have done her research.”
Hearing Noemi’s words and looking at the red line on the map, everyone understood how Tia got to the sixth checkpoint without much effort.
“Ding!”
At that moment, the monitor sounded again, and nearly two hundred blue dots left their positions, completely disregarding Garrett’s deployment, and began converging towards the east gate checkpoint.
The patrol teams, emergency squads, and other checkpoint members all rushed in that direction as if they had discovered something.
Even several small teams in front of the Brigade of Light’s office building dashed toward the east gate after checking their phones.
In Darnell’s view, aside from six rapidly blinking red dots at the east gate checkpoint, including Tia and ten others, they were still lurking at the sixth checkpoint, quietly waiting.
At almost the same moment, Garrett shot upright. Though he didn’t have the broad view of the screen like Darnell and Noemi, the Brigade of Light’s monitoring room provided him with sufficient information.
He stared intently at the screen, confused about why the Brigade of Light members were abandoning their posts and rushing towards the east gate.
After observing for a while, he noticed two patrol cars at the east gate, each carrying three women who were actively firing bullets towards the checkpoint.
The security at the checkpoint immediately retaliated, and the six women fired back while retreating, using the vehicles for temporary cover.
“How did they get into the cars? Did they also seize patrol vehicles?”
Garrett pondered while watching the surveillance screen. Then, glancing at the still quiet back gate, he made a precise judgment. “It looks like something’s gone wrong at the back gate.”
Garrett speculated on Tia’s strategy. “That woman is indeed something else.”
“Leader, leader!”
At that moment, Vance rushed in, panting heavily. “They said they received your order on the phone to head to the front gate to encircle the women, and there is indeed a firefight happening over there, so everyone went. We only have thirty left to guard here.”
Garrett was taken aback. “My order? When did I send an order?”
Vance replied while catching his breath, “Their orders came from your number.”
“A few brothers called back to confirm for safety reasons, and it was indeed your voice.”
“My number? My voice?”
Garrett’s lips twitched as he stepped outside and dialed his phone, but he found he couldn’t get through.
He huffed, “It must be Tia’s doing.”
“I guessed so.” Vance nodded vigorously. “I wanted to call them back just now, but I couldn’t get through.”
“Send three brothers to the front gate and have them pull half of their men back to the command center. This is a classic feint.”
Garrett quickly issued commands. “At the same time, have Arthur bring all the sentries at the gate back inside to concentrate our forces and guard against Tia’s ambush.”
His eyes sparkled with determination. “She’s creating a diversion to quickly take us down.”
“Otherwise, if we pull personnel back, they’ll be caught in a pincer.”
Garrett glanced at the time. “From the front gate to here, it’ll take a minimum of ten minutes and a maximum of twenty.”
“Tia, I don’t believe you can make it to this building in that short amount of time.”
Vance nodded, drawing his weapon and rushing out. “I’ll handle it right away.”
“Bam!”
Just as Vance reached the door to send a few people on electric bikes to call for help, a heavy gunshot rang out.
It was brief yet urgent.
Vance was struck by a burst of white smoke, his clothes cracked, and a clear bullet mark was evident where the paintball hit.
Out of the game!
