Deucalion must have thought me a fool.
He must have thought of me as nothing but a pawn which he could push around while making his move. Did he really think that I would have allowed him to take Yulia from me when I knew his truth?
I must have given him too much credit when I called him smart. He was not worthy of being thought of as my friend.
“What is this nonsense?” Deucalion suddenly exclaimed out of desperation. “You have made your point so drop it. Take your mate and leave!”
The crowd fell silent again as things had taken a new turn. Petr stared at me in disbelief.
“You’ve won, do not spoil the image and the honor of our people fallen in that bloody battle,” Petr muttered.
“Even I feel that this is going too far. We gave up a lot of things for that war and you’re standing there claiming that it was all a lie!” Davina spat.
She was angry and it was mostly because I had found my mate. I always knew that she never got over me. I might have chosen her in the long run over everyone else if things had turned out differently.
But we lived in a cruel world and things happened on their own accord.
“I also lost my parents in that war. . . Do you think I will stand here and joke with my Father’s honor?” I demanded in the calmest voice I could muster.
Yet I could feel Iran rising. He was angry and fed up with all the bullshit that was taking place here. He wanted out, he wanted to teach them all a lesson using his destructive violence as a weapon.
That was when I felt Yulia’s warm hand snake into my palm which had already fallen off her waist.
“Speak, Lycan,” Albus stated.
Deucalion balled his hands into fists but there was nothing he could do.
“While we all believed that the War of the Black Rose was started by a bunch of dark witches unprovoked. . . We were wrong.” I squeezed Yulia’s hand a bit.
Just knowing that she was now standing beside me was all the courage and strength I needed to keep going.
The crowd gasped as they listened to me speak.
“If the dark witches didn’t start war, then who did?” Davina demanded.
She could easily cut into my speech because she was also a judge.
“This is absurd. Are we really going to sit here and listen to all the bullshit the Lycan has to spill? He’s just drunk on his mate bond and he’s not in his right senses,” Deucalion came in right after.
“If he’s just spilling bullshit, what are you so afraid of?” Yulia spoke up, surprising even me.
My girl was been badass and I hadn’t yet gotten over how she easily defended herself from Olgah without having to touch her.
Deucalion tightened his lips together because Yulia had hit a vital spot. He fell silent and allowed me to speak.
“The person who started the War of the Black Rose was actually Helena Craven!” I dropped the bomb and the crowd exclaimed.
Deucalion did not move. He just remained seated. “What Proof do you have that claims my Luna started the War?”
I pressed my lips together. I had no tangible proof to show that she started it. Only Albus knew this but it was not his place to say it.
“For starters, she faked her own death and is currently trying to finish what she started!” I revealed.
Iris and her sisters did not react. They only glared at their father with an expression that could not be traced.
“Lies,” Deucalion stated.
I smirked. On the seat he sat, he was bound by the council to tell the truth when a question was directed at him by any of the judges.
“Tell the court, Deucalion. Is your Luna alive or dead?” I brought the question forward.
Albus picked it up from there. “Answer the question. Is it true that your Luna faked her death?”
Deucalion’s lips remained sealed before he finally decided to speak. “I am not the one being accused. Lycan Frostwood has no right to ask me this question!”
“You are bound by the council to tell the truth, Deucalion,” Davina joined in. “Did she fake her death?”
Petr looked confused. If my claim was proven true, then he would become stupid for helping the one who took out most of the werewolves in his clan.
“I cannot answer that question!” Deucalion roared.
And in a sudden flash, he jumped off his seat and tried to escape but all the witches present- along with Davina’s command- combined their forces and shot them at the Alpha.
His escape was instantly blocked off by an invisible force and he was knocked off his feet. He tried to rise and continue his futile attempt at escaping but he remained compelled to the ground.
He had been caught in his own lies.
“You will not leave this court until you give us an answer!” Davina roared with all the power flowing through her.
“You’re wasting your time,” Andrea’s voice suddenly cut in.
This made us all shoot stares at her. She was no longer crying. Leia was trying to stop her by pulling at her hand but she dragged her hand free from her sister.
Iris did not try to stop her either. It seemed that the Cravens had already accepted defeat. Their end had finally come.
“He’s under an Oath not to speak. He’s probably going to die if he tells you the truth. . .” She trailed in a weak voice. “So I’ll save you all the trouble and reveal the truth before the council.”
Deucalion widened his eyes at her. “Get back in your seat, Andrea!” He roared but Davina added more power and his voice got burned out.
Angry tears began to exit Deucalion’s eyes and I hated to be him right now.
Andrea on the other hand slowly began to make her way down to us in her broken state. She had nothing to lose. She was going to reveal it all.
Yulia only squeezed my hand tighter instead of me.
“I only just found out I had a brother who died by my mother’s hand. . .” She stopped as her voice broke towards the end. “She put my father under an Oath to only do what will benefit her and . . . She’s been alive this entire time.”
The crowd exclaimed.
“What have you done! Andrea!” Deucalion roared. “Everything I did was for you three! She’s going to make you suffer!”
Andrea looked unbothered. “I don’t care anymore. May the best man win this war.”
