~ISSA
“It should not have ended this way, Issa. We could have solved this amicably like gentlemen.” Petr said, but I heard no regret.
“Bullshit, you wanted to let this play out exactly this way,” Miles spat with open disdain.
Petr and Olga looked over at Miles with obvious disgust. “Who said he could speak?” Olga asked coldly.
“You will let your second talk to me this way, Issa, such disrespect,” Petr spat.
“I am here because of your disrespect, Petr, and you made a mistake believing that this council will help your cause, you will learn and you will learn the hard way.” I never broke away from his gaze as I spoke.
“Why is it so hard to see that we only want what we were promised?” Olga asked.
Her twin daughters were looking so uncomfortable as the tense conversation went on.
“But is it what your daughters really want?” Yulia spoke out. “It’s so obvious that they do not want to be here, look at them.”
That was when Olga turned a hard glare at Yulia.
“Nobody asked for your opinion, Orphan!” Olga spat with venom. “And what my daughters want or do not want is not up to them.”
Yulia inhaled sharply at her choice of words. It stung and I also felt it sting but before I could reply, Petr continued.
“You should worry about yourself, Yulia, is it?” Petr mocked. “Because when I win this case and one of my daughters is betrothed to Issa, you will be out of the picture. I quite frankly do not see why he takes you everywhere he goes. Everybody knows that he is not your biological uncle.”
“Petr!” I called firmly. “Do not talk to her that way. We may be in a public place but do not think I can not reach over and rip out your tongue.”
The threat was heavy and true in the air. Olga tensed up. She felt the maniacal rage of Iran. Even if Petr was too arrogant to care, she did. She held her Alpha’s arm to caution him.
“I do not talk nor have any interest in your family. Thus, I ask you not to speak about mine,” I told him.
“I only speak the truth,” he said with a smug expression.
I scoffed. “You do not even know half of the truth, but like I said, you will learn.”
I turned to the twins. “Forge your own path, compliant women are not really my type, not that you have a chance. I kind of feel sorry for you.”
“They have no need for your advice or pity,” Petr said icily.
“But they have a need for cock?” I said in a deeply mocking fashion and even the girl winced in embarrassment for their father.
“Alpha Frostwood and Alpha Rasputin, you two should not be seen together until the trial starts,” Davina said as she walked towards us.
“Dean Davina,” Petr said with a pleasant smile. “I am sorry about the school shutting down, it must have been quite disheartening.”
“I appreciate your kind thoughts, but the trial will begin in a matter of moments, please report to your designated place,” Davina said curtly.
“Very well, I will be seeing you on the stand soon, Frostwood,” Petr replied and smoothened his three-piece suit before he walked away with his family and procession.
Davina turned to me with a stern expression.
“What?” I asked.
“You just could not stay out of trouble could you, your own council is going to be judging you today,” Davina replied with a disapproving demeanour.
“I just wanted to see how effective this council really is,” I said.
“By failing to follow through on the end of your promise?” Davina asked.
“I made no promise to anyone,” I replied with a hard tone. “My father did. I am not my father.”
Davina glared at me for a while before she sighed heavily. “They are waiting for you either way.”
I turned to Yulia. “I will see you inside, and do not worry, I got this.”
“I know you do,” She replied.
I walked through the entrance of the Hall of Judgement.
It was a wide oval space where both the accuser and the accused were to stand to make their case. The big oval space was covered in grey marble stones and was surrounded by high ascending chairs like an ancient roman colosseum. The chairs were filled with no space left. It seemed like all the creatures from all the corners of the world were present to see me fall.
With pride and my head raised high, I walked with a majestic gait towards the centre of the oval space and waited. I looked up at the high table before me and saw my judges. A carefully selected chosen few. There were three in number.
One represented the witches, Davina, she sat on the left. The one in the middle was Albus who was appointed as head judge because of his longevity and experience. The person representing the werewolves was none other than Deucalion, the traitor of his own kind.
Nobody knew that for now but me. Tonight, the truth will set things straight.
Petr Joined me on the oval floor and we stood side by side facing the judges. I saw a subtle look pass between him and Deucalion. A small smile tugged at my lips.
Davina stood up to speak. “We are here tonight to bear witness to the trial of Lycan Issa Frotwood and Petr Rasputin, Alpha and Lycan from two prestigious families.” She looked down at me from her high table. “Issa Frostwood, you stand accused of a breach of contract between the Rasputin family and yours.”
An old man dressed in a black suit got up from the front row of the descending seat and gave Davina an old parchment scroll. I recognized it as the contract my father made. It brought back memories of my father’s grim face as he was creating it. He had believed that I would not find a mate due to the war but I did.
It was not yet time for them to know that. I was going to bide my time and wait for the right moment.
“How do you plead to this accusation?” Davina asked.
“I am as guilty as charged.”
