~ISSA
I wore my best attire.
If I was going to be judged, I may as well look good when it was happening. Ironically, I was feeling excited by the fact that a council that I made was going to put me on the stand.
I looked at myself in the mirror, trying to see if I still recognized the Lycan standing in the reflection.
“The waiting is killing me,” Yulia complained for the thirty eighth time today.
This was due to her being nervous about the whole thing. The Court was only active at night, so we had to wait through the day.
“The audacity!” Miles thundered as he paced back and forth. “Do they know who the fuck you are? I mean, I know but I don’t think they do.”
I smiled. I could understand that my second in command was feeling a bit disrespected but rules were rules and I made them, so I had no choice but to follow them.
“They will tonight, you can bet on that,” I replied.
My phone rang for the eleventh time today but I ignored it. I knew who was calling and I had no intention of speaking to him until we saw each other in court.
“He really wants to talk to you,” Yulia said as she looked down at my phone.
It was placed on the table in the middle of the room.
“I prefer to hear him in court,” I replied. “He is trying to see if he can change my mind but it is too late.”
The clock struck twelve, it was midnight. It was time to face the judges of the dark. “Get the car ready,” I told Miles who left the room immediately.
I turned to Yulia. “No matter what happens, they will never take you away from me,” I vowed to her.
“Even if they try, I will never let you go,” She whispered.
Assured of our danger filled love, we both left the house and entered the big Escalade waiting. Miles was the driver.
“Is the territory secured?” I asked Miles as he drove us to the court.
“Any intruder that comes into our territory is either very stupid or is tired of breathing,” Miles replied.
That was all the assurance I needed.
Yulia leaned into me as Miles drove us to the destination. It was a full twenty minutes’ drive. The large multiped building loomed as the moon shone brightly behind it. There were a lot of vehicles parked in front of the building.
“As expected, it is a full house,” Miles said as he found a parking spot.
“They came here to watch me, to mock me,” I muttered as I looked out of the car window. I got down with Yulia following closely behind me.
As soon as I stepped into the court house, all eyes fell on me. Foes, haters, opportunists and the aggrieved watched me as I walked with my head high and straight.
The inner walls of the court were magnificent and painted with images of werewolves, witches and nature. It was a renaissance painting and beneath the paintings were the council and their processions.
I was not going to lie; I basked in the attention that I was currently receiving. I could feel the smirks of rival Alphas from their various territories. I could feel their snide thoughts as they gazed at me. ‘Here be the Lycan, who has fallen from grace.’
None could dare approach me though. I had called on Iran to lend me his deadly aura, so whoever felt like challenging me could feel the powerful weight of the madness that was Issa Frostwood. They knew who I was. They were aware of my bloodthirsty nature.
I kept walking on and I noticed that more beings were still coming into the court. My trial had not yet commenced so it was no big deal.
“It is funny how life works,” Jamal said as he approached us.
He was dressed in a long coat and his hair was slicked back with oil. He looked unarmed but I knew there were deadly knives underneath his clothes.
“I had always wanted to put you on trial, you know,” he said smoothly as he smiled.
“Wait your turn,” I replied with a smile of my own. I sniffed. “How is Lana?” I asked.
“None of your business,” He replied too quickly.
Yulia chuckled. “Are you finally going to admit that you both are a thing or are you going to keep pretending?”
Jamal tilted his head slightly and I knew he was considering ignoring as usual but he gave up and decided to come clean.
“She wanted to tell you but I dissuaded her, until we were both sure we wanted to be with each other,” Jamal said but he looked uncomfortable with the way he was talking.
I realized that he was not used to answering or reporting his actions to someone.
“Just don’t play with her, Jamal, she is a good person. I will fry your ass if you dare to break her ass,” Yulia said but I could feel the undertones of a threat in her voice.
“We are not playing around, that’s for sure,” Jamal replied.
Miles came to us with an angry look on his face. “It is about to begin,” he muttered. “The accuser is here.”
Miles had been scouting for the Rasputin family outside.
I looked to the direction of the entrance and I saw Petr and Olga walk in with their procession. They were dressed in expensive clothes and looked impeccable. Their blonde hair was extra shiny and gleamed under the light. Even their identical twin daughters were with them.
I could feel Miles getting agitated as they approached us.
“Easy,” I whispered to him. “We will spill their blood at the appropriate time.”
“Issa,” Petr said as he stopped right in front of us.
“Petr,” I replied curtly.
I looked over at his daughters closely. They did not want to be here but they had no choice. Their lives were already planned for them whether they accepted it or not.
What a miserable live they lived and I was about to save them from the fate, even if they were not going to accept it right away.
