Mia’s POV
How could my brother take off hosting a meeting about tackling the situation and not invite me to it? I’m even the main subject of this meeting because they are after my life right now, and I don’t know if it’s because they found out I’m a white wolf or because they don’t want me to save my father. Either way, I’m still in danger.
“What are you doing here, Mia? This is a meeting you shouldn’t be attending,” my brother scolded me for the first time.
“It’s good to hear you scold me for the first time, but I’m not leaving here. I already heard everything you were planning. I was passing by, and I happened to see you people in a meeting about my safety,” I replied to him.
He looked at me like he was frustrated. I’m also feeling the same way too. It’s not as if I wanted this for myself, but no one is helping me out right now. The situation is at a point where we can’t hide things from each other. We are supposed to tell ourselves what is going on, but they just want to keep hiding things from me, which is why I can’t take it from them.
“Can I come in now that I know everything you are planning?” I demanded.
He didn’t give me an answer, but I went inside anyway. I’m not going to wait for him to tell me what to do. This is about protecting myself, and I need to know what they are planning. Besides, I’m the one who wanted to catch the culprit all along, and now they are trying to take the credit?
“I’m the one who caught that guy, and you all are having a meeting on how to interrogate him. Shouldn’t I be a part of this too?” I demanded.
“That’s not what I mean. You shouldn’t be here at this time. We want to protect you, which is why we are having this meeting,” my brother tried to explain.
I sneered. “This is clearly discrimination against women. You think I’m going to pull you down, and there’s nothing I can do to help you. Isn’t that why you are doing all of this?”
They saw that I was getting offended by their words, and they quickly changed their minds and let me into the meeting.
“We’re just talking about how to conduct a joint investigation with all our resources so that we can find out who is behind everything,” Xavier explained.
“It’s obviously Keith. That guy already confessed it to me, but I know some people will not believe until they see it with their own eyes,” I said, looking at my brother.
“It’s better not to make speculations, sister. Don’t worry. If he’s responsible for everything, I’m not going to let him go,” he replied to me.
“I’m not interested in letting him go or not. I just want to beat him up so that he can stay away from me.”
All I can think about is how to protect myself from this world. It seems like everyone else is talking about protecting me, but what they want to protect is the secret of the white wolf. The only one who can truly protect me and my wolf is me.
I’m not going to let anyone try to take my life away from me. I already did so much to be where I am today.
“Since we have already concluded that we are going to do a joint investigation, then I will come in. Brother, if you are going to interrogate that guy next time, let me come with you. I have some good interrogation skills,” I suggested.
I was waiting for him to say no before I could finally get angry at him, but he accepted it without arguing with me.
“Since we are already done with this meeting, I have a lot to do, and I’m going to leave you all to it. Let’s talk some other time.”
While we all came out of the meeting room to go and get some rest, we suddenly saw some guards turning toward my brother in panic. It was obvious something was going on, so I stopped.
Everyone else also stopped to listen to what was going on. Could it be that we were getting attacked? With the way they looked so frightened, it could be that something serious had happened.
“Is this the part where we all run away?” I asked, trying to be funny, but no one caught the joke. I just stayed quiet and watched the scene.
“Alpha! Alpha!” they called in fear.
“What is going on? Why are you shouting like this?” he questioned them.
“The prisoner has escaped!” the guards exclaimed.
“The prisoner? Which one?” Lucas asked like he didn’t understand.
Sometimes I want to hit him in his head to make him less stupid than he already is. It’s obvious it’s the prisoner we took in not long ago-the one that tried to hurt my father and me.
“Explain clearly to the Alpha. He doesn’t seem to understand what you are saying,” I said to the guard.
“You brought him in for questioning. Someone suddenly broke in, beat up everyone, and took him away,” the guards explained. Their entire bodies were trembling, and I could guess that what they saw was a tremendous power that scared them.
“Are you saying you let your incompetence get in the way of my plans? You let a prisoner get away? How did that person get in here anyway?” Lucas angrily asked.
“We’re sorry! We have no idea how this person came in and attacked everyone. It’s still a mystery to all of us. Please forgive us!”
I moved closer to him and whispered in his ear, “It’s obvious how the person came in. There is a spy in your pack, like it or not.”
I’m guessing the person that saved this prisoner is really powerful-someone practicing dark magic. Our estranged cousin seems to be the perfect fit for this.
It doesn’t matter if he ran away anyway. We are still going to catch him soon enough. That’s because I already know who the mastermind is.
