Mia’s POV
A false alarm?
Who could have given a false alarm like that and made them go to the border, only to get there and realize it was a waste of time? It felt like someone was planning to infiltrate this place when the security was weak.
I suddenly realized what was going on. I pulled my brother to explain to him.
“You know, someone just tried to kidnap me, and probably, they wanted to take me away so that they could poison our father more. Not just that, it seems like there are more spies in this pack than you think.”
“I disagree with you, Mia. There might be spies here, but there aren’t a lot of them. Our pack members are usually good people, and I don’t know what got into the guy that got caught spying,” he defended.
I should really stop talking to my brother about things like this. He’s as hopeless as I think he is. He’s always defending the wrong things, and I don’t even know what to do with him. Every time I try to talk to him about something important, he always has something to say about it. He keeps defending the wrong people and ends up getting betrayed in the end.
“I don’t think you should be defending them when they are doing something wrong. Is this your habit of defending bad people or what?” Daisy called him out.
I nudged her to stop, but she wasn’t ready to listen to me. She was already mad at him for trying to defend the people he shouldn’t, and I knew she wouldn’t take this lightly.
“Something almost happened to my cousin-your sister! What if she got killed before you arrived? Will you stop defending useless people?” she snapped at him.
I quickly intervened to stop the conversation from escalating. “It’s okay, Daisy. I’m already fine, and I’m here. Besides, they definitely can’t easily take me away like that.”
Lucas didn’t look happy with what Daisy had said to him, and it’s not the first time he’s been like this. I know he’s a kind person who treats everyone equally, but there is no place for criminals who take other people’s lives. He should understand this concept and stop defending them when he’s supposed to see their wrongdoings.
“You all should excuse me for now. I want to be alone with my father,” he said.
Could it be that he’s listening to everything that’s happening now? Does he think his son is right or foolish? For me, I think my brother is stupid, and he’s letting himself get used by a lot of people. Maybe he just doesn’t want to face the reality that his pack members have become pawns for Keith.
“Umm… Daisy and I will be going out now,” I said, dragging her away.
I managed to drag her out of there even though she still had the strength to argue with my brother. I know where she’s coming from, but again, he is an Alpha and should be respected. It wouldn’t be a good thing if other people saw us disrespecting their Alpha-it probably wouldn’t end well for us either.
“What is wrong with your brother? Why does he trust people so easily? I’ve always heard that he was kind from all places, but I think he’s just stupid,” Daisy fumed.
She paced around the room restlessly. “Don’t you think this is too strange? Is he trying to be stupid, or could he have something to do with it?”
I looked at Daisy in confusion. Her suspecting my brother seemed like a legitimate concern, but he doesn’t look like someone who would do that. Yes, my brother is really stupid, but he’s not bad enough to hurt his own people like that. Besides, what reason would he have to hurt me?
“I think you’re getting it wrong, Daisy. Brother wouldn’t do something like that. I might not have known him for a long time, but I can tell you there’s nothing like that happening between us,” I assured her.
“I know he might not be able to do something like that, but the way he keeps shielding these people as if they are the innocent ones and we are the guilty ones… it’s as if we’re trying to start a war while he’s trying to make things right. He’s making us look like the devil. Isn’t that bad enough?” she complained.
“Just calm down, Daisy. I have my own ways of getting to the bottom of this. Don’t worry, I’ll find out in due time.”
I noticed that Daisy had been angry for the past few days, and it was kind of strange to me. I didn’t understand what was going on with her, and I thought maybe she was just going through something, but she was just mad at everyone. That’s probably why she lost her temper in front of my brother again.
“What’s going on with you these days, Daisy? You just seem to be very angry all the time. Could you tell me what’s happening to you?”
Instead of giving me an answer, her cheeks became tomato red. Why is she blushing when I’m asking her what happened? Could it be that she has a crush on someone?
“Do you have a crush on someone or what? Look at how your face is completely red,” I teased her.
She blinked rapidly, something she does when she’s too shy or embarrassed to talk about something. Definitely, there’s something going on.
“I suddenly remembered that I have something to do, and I have to leave right now. Let’s talk some other time later,” she said and quickly ran away before I could ask more questions.
She’s avoiding my eyes and my questions. It seems like there’s really something going on, and I want to find out what it’s about. But then, I can’t really do a lot of research on this, so I might just wait for her to tell me when she’s ready.
Meanwhile, I need to know how this Keith keeps causing chaos in the pack and no one is blaming him. Could it be that they already know he’s a troublesome person, or could the pack be hiding secrets about him? What’s the reason for his hatred against me, mainly?
