Tristan’s POV
She doesn’t look optimistic to go out with me like before. She really
changed a lot in a way that I can’t even explain. I don’t know how much it
means to her but I’m willing to do whatever I can to make things up to
her.
“You don’t seem to want to go with me.” I said as she followed beside
me.
She shook her head, “It’s not necessarily because of you. I’m not trying
to avoid interactions with you either but I’m just trying to be careful.”
The last few years, there was no chance to do anything. I always felt like
she was alive and well since we never found her body. And that was the
only reason I kept those useless brothers alive. They should be thankful I
found her, though it doesn’t mean I’m going to stop now.
I didn’t know fate would bring us together when I found my fated mate
and it had to be someone close to her. Even though I found my mate, I
don’t know if my feelings for her changed. I don’t think it did.
I turned to get and took her hands in mine, “don’t worry about it Mia.
Daisy told me to take you out, she arranged this.”
She looked confused, “You’re her fated mate whom she had been waiting
for a very long time. Why would she leave her mate to me?”
I also wonder sometimes what’s going on in Daisy’s head. She’s so
carefree and good. I don’t think someone like me deserves her. I’m even
betraying our bond by having another woman in my heart, yet she’s
taking everything lightly.
‘Why are you helping me? You’re supposed to be my mate. Doesn’t this
bother you at all?’ I questioned her.
But she replied, ‘Of course it does. The mating bond is to blame but aside
that, I’m okay. You’re very handsome, strong, kind and perfect in all
ways. But we just met each other, there’s plenty of time to think about it.
I don’t want to be trapped in a loveless relationship, so I’m good.’
I couldn’t say anything else to her but I understood her worries. She was
someone who valued freedom and love, she always has dreams of a
perfect relationship. Yet she cares about people more than herself, not
letting herself suffer for what wasn’t worth it.
“You don’t have to worry about that. She wants us to have a good time as
friends, I don’t see anything wrong with that.” I assured her.
She finally agreed, “she’s right. We’re not doing anything wrong. What
am I so worried about?”
I took her hands and led her to the car. I drove for an hour until we finally
reached the biggest garden in the city. It was a place where stars
appeared a lot and was a national treasure. It was one of a kind magical
place.
Lovers, friends, families and a lot of other people go to make a wish
there. It was great for stargazing and there was always an artificial show
there too. I’ve always wanted to see a place like this with Mia.
It was somehow getting close to evening and we were going to enjoy the
place. The biggest yearly star event was happening tonight. I don’t know
how Daisy doing out but she was the one who got the ticket for us.
“Wow… You’re telling me Daisy got us tickets to this place. It’s so
popular that many people come here all year, it’s hard to get a chance.
She has always wanted to visit here again.” Mia said and the last
sentence made her look sad.
I shook my head, “you don’t have to feel bad Mia. She did this because
she saw you as a sister. You can’t let her down by getting sad over it.”.
She sighed, “Maybe you’re right. But I just can’t stop thinking about it.”
“Come on,” I pulled her forward, “Let’s get the best place to sit and
enjoy the show. This is an annual event. We can’t miss the best part.”
She probably feels guilty for taking the place of Daisy to see stars with
me. However, I feel bad because I don’t feel guilty. All I can think of right
now is Mia, it has always been her.
We found some rocks to sit which were basically seats made with rocks.
We got to a good spot a bit forward and the best place we could see the
stars. It made me glad I was able to secure it.
“Wow… This so beautiful. I haven’t been able to look at the stars for a
long time now. It feels so nostalgic.” Mia said, looking at the sky.
The moonlight shone on her face, highlighting her beauty that got better
over the years. She has always been attractive with the best smile in the
world. She was just unlucky to meet those people who took her smile
away.
“Do you like it?” I asked, seeing her enjoying the show.
She nodded and looked at me, making my heart jump a little.
“It’s so beautiful. Thank you for going out of your way to bring me here. I
don’t really deserve it.” She replied.
“Nonsense! Don’t ever say that about yourself again.”
She looked at me with confusion and then I realized other people were
looking at me too. She had to apologize to them, I didn’t even know I
yelled at her.
“What’s wrong with you? Why getting worked up over my words?” She
suddenly touched my forehead, “You’re not even burning hot, so what
happened. Maybe…”
I don’t know why I began to stutter.
“Why… W-what do you… want to say to me?”
Damn it! I sound like a desperate idiot.
She shook her head, “I think the one who wants to say something is you.
Do you have something you’re hiding from me?”
Is this Mia asking me to take the initiative to ask her? Maybe I should
finally muster up the courage to tell her everything. After all, I’ve been
hiding this inside me for years.
“Mia… You’re right. I do have something to say to you.” I started, “I… I
actually am in love with you.”
That’s it. I blurted it out like someone cast a spell on me to say the truth.
Now my heart beat is raised to ten times the normal rate. Is this even
normal?
I expected a rejection almost immediately because that is what the
situation entails but she didn’t say anything. She just stared at me. What
could she be thinking?
