Chapter 952: Finding an Old Friend

Joaquin drove extremely fast, glanced at the rearview mirror, and then looked at Callie. “What if Nelson finds us?”
Callie tied all her hair up, frustration evident. “Can’t you drive faster?”
Joaquin endured her temper and quickly said, “Karlee is now working as a small employee in a small town in Anbusea, living a simple life as an ordinary person.”
“Where is she now?”
“I’ve arranged everything. She’s in a small motel, unnoticed by anyone.”
Such a person was too inconspicuous; unless someone specifically watched her, no one would pay attention.
Callie flipped through the documents Joaquin had already organized. Karlee had been tricked into coming here by Joaquin, who had disguised himself as a superior from their company, saying he was taking her to Ylosea on a business trip.
Upon arriving at the motel, Joaquin didn’t unlock the central lock. He hesitated and asked, “Callie, I know you were shocked when you found out Charlotte wasn’t Maevelyn. If she’s an imposter, then who is the real one?”
Callie was momentarily taken aback by the question.
She opened her mouth, “…I don’t know.”
Joaquin stared at her face, skeptical. “Really?”
“I just want to uncover this conspiracy. You found out most of it; if you don’t know, how would I?”
Callie spoke each word carefully, unsure how much Joaquin would believe.
She had never been able to accept living under Maevelyn’s identity. What kind of concept was that? Would the world accept her?
Facing these thoughts, she was also filled with fear.
Joaquin nodded suspiciously. “Then why do you want to uncover the conspiracy?”
Callie was silent for a moment. “For… Nelson.”
He led her out of the car and found Karlee’s room.
The door opened to reveal a woman with an ordinary but clear appearance. “Mr. Marsh, you’re here.”
Before Joaquin could speak, Karlee saw Callie behind him and froze, her expression somewhat strange. “Mr. Marsh, who is this…?”
“Don’t be nervous. She just wants to ask you some questions. Relax.”
Joaquin left the room, giving them space to talk alone.
Karlee noticed that although this woman was dressed in high fashion, she was very approachable. She sat down and smiled. “Karlee, hello. My name is Callie Marsh. Have we met before?”
Karlee also sat down. “You look familiar, but I don’t know who you are. Do you know me?”
Callie shook her head. “Today is my first time meeting you.”
“Then you…”
Callie took out an ID photo from the document bag. “The person you find familiar is actually her, right?”
The photo clearly showed Charlotte’s face.
Karlee covered her mouth in surprise. “This is Holly! Do you know her? Did something happen to her?”
Callie smiled. “What is your relationship with her?”
“I was her best friend in high school!”
“No wonder you recognized her at a glance. It seems you care about her a lot. Does she care about you the same way?”
At this, Karlee’s expression dimmed. “She lost contact with me after going to college. But Miss Marsh, did something happen to her?”
Callie shook her head regretfully. “No, she changed her name, graduated smoothly, found a great job, and reunited with her family. She’s doing very well. She doesn’t contact you because your existence would cause her trouble.”
Karlee was even more shocked. “What are you talking about?”
Callie calmly took out another photo, showing Charlotte now sitting in a luxury car drinking coffee, far from the impoverished girl she was in high school.
