“Me? Wouldn’t that be awkward? They don’t know me. You go ahead and have fun with your friends.”
“You’re my fiancee. They’ll have to meet you sooner or later. Today is a good opportunity to introduce you.” Johnny was afraid something might go wrong before the engagement. It was best to take Tilda everywhere, also to prevent her from becoming suspicious.
But what Johnny didn’t know was-
This was the worst decision he had ever made.
…
Johnny hadn’t expected to encounter his ex-girlfriend at this gathering.
And as soon as they entered, he saw her, and his ex-girlfriend also looked over at the same time.
But since they were already there, turning around now would only make Tilda more suspicious.
“So this is your fiancee? She’s beautiful!”
Several of Johnny’s friends saw Tilda and began teasing him.
Whenever one of them had a new girlfriend, they would all go through this process-everyone was used to it.
Although Tilda didn’t particularly like their tone, considering these people had been drinking, she let it slide! After all, Johnny didn’t want to come, but she insisted, so at least she couldn’t embarrass him in front of his friends.
“Hello, everyone.”
She smiled and greeted them.
During the meal, everyone could see how serious Johnny was this time, so after a few jokes, no one dared to tease Tilda anymore.
As they chatted and laughed, Johnny suddenly raised his glass and announced loudly, “Here’s a piece of good news-I’m getting engaged to Tilda.”
“Congratulations!”
“Good for you! Johnny, you’re decisive!”
“Congratulations, congratulations!”
Amid the cheers, Tilda noticed a girl sitting opposite her whose face didn’t look too pleased.
She had a male companion beside her who kept serving her food, seemingly her boyfriend, so Tilda didn’t think much of it. Perhaps she wasn’t feeling well.
After several rounds of drinks, Tilda also had a few glasses and got up to go to the restroom.
Since it was already dark outside, and she would have to remove her skincare products when they got home anyway, she took the opportunity to wash her face. Since she didn’t wear makeup, washing her face didn’t make much difference-it just helped her sober up a bit.
With her eyes closed while washing her face, she could hear the sound of high heels behind her.
Someone else entered the restroom.
Tilda paid no attention. It was the ladies’ room, so wasn’t the sound of high heels normal?
When she finished washing her face and looked in the mirror, she discovered that woman standing right behind her.
It was the woman from the table whose face hadn’t looked pleased.
Tilda was startled but smiled at her in a friendly manner. “Hello.”
The woman suddenly asked, “Are you marrying Johnny?”
Tilda’s intuition told her something was wrong. “Yes, why?”
The woman gave a cold snort. “When I was with him, Johnny told me he never planned to get married in his life, telling me not to wait for him. Yet, barely two years later, he’s already announced his marriage.”
Great!
Another one of Johnny’s ex-girlfriends.
Tilda took a deep breath, maintaining her composure. “People change. That’s perfectly normal.”
Just like her-she hadn’t planned on marrying Johnny at first either!
“Normal?” The woman crossed her arms, laughing bitterly and loudly. “Do you also think I’m just one of the many women Johnny slept with and was done with?”
“Aren’t you?”
“I was with him for nearly three years.”
“Although during those three years, he had fooling around with women, his friends still only recognized me as his girlfriend.”
