Chapter 307: A Passerby

To escape Kendra’s attack, Darnell ran as fast as he could.
He hadn’t expected the woman not to wear any underwear.
So, as soon as the words left his mouth, Darnell knew he was in big trouble. He fled as far as possible to avoid being killed by Kendra.
For anything else, Kendra would certainly not bother with Darnell, but not this time.
She had worn a thong in the morning, but the material irritated her skin, so she took it off in the bookstore bathroom. That was why she appeared at the coffee shop later.
She truly wasn’t wearing any underwear. Naturally, she was furious at Darnell’s smirk.
“Stop right there!”
In her rage, Kendra’s speed increased dramatically. She aimed a kick at Darnell’s back, but he seemed to have eyes behind his head, twisting and moving his body.
Kendra missed her kick completely. Worse, the momentum from her failed kick threw her off balance and sent her lurching forward.
Seeing that she was about to fall-which would expose even more-Kendra instinctively lunged forward, landing squarely on Darnell.
“Ouch!”
Darnell hadn’t expected her to lunge at him. Wanting to dodge but afraid she might hit the wall and injure herself, he frantically grabbed the woman.
They both fell to the ground. Kendra’s tempting lips landed with a smack on Darnell’s face, and her fragrant body pressed against his chest.
Her pretty face and fair skin presented at close range before Darnell, filled with a mature woman’s allure.
“You bastard, taking advantage of me again.”
Kendra quickly extracted herself from Darnell’s arms, losing her usual composure and pride, her face flushed. “I’m going to kill you.”
Darnell grabbed her hand, twisted his waist, and sprang up in one motion. He held Kendra and firmly pressed her proud figure against the wall.
“Kendra, can you be reasonable? You kicked me, and you lunged at me. I’m the victim here, okay?”
Darnell looked grievously wronged. How had he become the lecher? If he’d actually done something, he wouldn’t mind being accused, but he hadn’t. It was Kendra who threw herself at him.
“Look, the mark from your kiss is still on my face. You should take responsibility. I’m not at fault.”
“You dare to argue and act like you’re innocent here?”
Kendra raised her hand to hit Darnell but was firmly restrained. “If you hadn’t provoked me, how could I possibly touch you?”
Darnell looked completely innocent.
Kendra retorted with a cold snort, “It’s all your fault anyway. Why did you move? If you had stood there and let me kick you, I wouldn’t have fallen. If I hadn’t fallen, I wouldn’t have lunged at you and kissed you. So, it’s all your fault.”
Kendra was unusually unreasonable and found she rather enjoyed it. However, she was surprised to find that she wasn’t actually that angry.
Logically, she should be angry! But facing that smiling face, she couldn’t summon any anger. Instead, she… she kind of missed that feeling…
Her heart seemed to be in disarray.
Darnell looked at the unreasonable woman and said, “I must be stupid to stand still and let you kick me.”
“You should have stood still and let me kick you. You’re a man, you should yield to women.”
Kendra straightened up her back with a proud look. “Even Omar couldn’t beat you to death, so what’s one kick from me going to do?”
“Do you know how many men in Westergold would gladly take a kick from me? I’m giving you an opportunity now-you should cherish it.”
Darnell’s mouth opened slightly. “There are fools in this world who like being kicked by women? Fine, go find one of those fools who’s willing to let you kick him!”
He glanced at Kendra, deciding not to be that fool who got hit. This woman wasn’t his, so it wasn’t worth being stupidly beaten.
As he spoke, he leaned forward slightly, bringing himself closer to Kendra.
When he first pinned Kendra against the wall, it was entirely a subconscious act of self-defense with no ulterior motives.
But when he embraced Kendra, he clearly felt the woman’s curvaceous body rubbing against his chest as she struggled, creating a wonderful sensation.
The faint, fresh scent rising from her neckline also spread to his nostrils, adding a layer of intimacy between them.
At this moment, Darnell realized he had been somewhat impulsive, but the feeling was truly good.
“Pervert, where are you looking?”
Kendra felt Darnell’s intensity and caught his gleaming eyes. Her pretty face turned cold. “Shall I gouge your eyes out?”
Darnell shrugged. “If you weren’t looking at me, how would you know I was looking at you?”
“Let me go!”
Kendra began to panic. Darnell’s aura was making her dizzy-this was the first time she had experienced such stimulation from a man.
“You kissed me so many times. It’s not too much for me to kiss you just once, right?”
Darnell looked at her red lips and suddenly planted a kiss. Then he released the woman and stepped back.
Kendra stood frozen as if struck by lightning. She never imagined a man would kiss her so forcefully.
“Kendra, Kendra!”
Before Kendra could regain her senses, shouts came from the other end of the alley. Several men in black appeared. Elvis Needham ran behind them.
Elvis’ face showed both worry and delight. His eyes revealed undisguised happiness as if he had recovered something lost.
Just as Darnell disappeared at the other end, Elvis stood before Kendra, his voice gentle as he asked, “Kendra, are you alright? Did you hurt?”
“I’m… I’m fine.”
Kendra forced a smile. It seemed like she hadn’t yet recovered from the kiss. “Elvis, thank you.”
“That’s good!” Elvis responded.
With great poise, he took off his coat and draped it over Kendra’s shoulders.
“Let’s talk about what happened when we get back. When we heard you were involved in the jewelry store robbery and chased after the criminals, Bella and the others were worried sick.”
Then he looked up slightly. “By the way, who was that man just now? It seemed like you two were having a conflict.”
Kendra’s lips twitched, and then she calmly managed to say, “I don’t know him. Just a passerby.”
But Elvis clearly saw them pressed tightly together.
Elvis’ Adam’s apple moved, but he said nothing. Even the concerned expression on his face remained unchanged.
