Chapter 100
Consider
***
“You look like a soulless being walking around this massive and dark forest, Leila…” Her inner wolf, Silver, commented on her.
Her voice was serious and yet, she could feel her concern.
Leila knew that behind her teasing, she was so worried about her.
After talking with Hunter, she decided to go back to the Triad base. And she couldn’t stop herself thinking of how Hunter looked like before she went.
*** Flashback…
“I have to go…” She uttered in a whisper causing Hunter to look at her seriously.
She stared at him with pure resolve. For sure, Leila knew that he couldn’t do anything to stop her. But she saw a glimpse of pain reflecting his eyes. And it hurt her, too.
However, she had to go back.
She couldn’t stay at Tammy’s home or else, she, too, could be in danger. She couldn’t go with Hunter, either. She didn’t know whether to believe him or not. Besides, she also thought of putting his life in danger.
Leila saw how powerful the Triad was. And she didn’t want anyone to get involve or even get hurt, too. So, she had to make a decision as soon as possible.
“But Leila…” Hunter tried to stop her but she continued walking towards Tammy’s house.
Hunter’s hand stopped her arm causing her to bite her lower lip and glared at him.
“This is my decision. I have to go back.” She said with pure determination.
Then, she pulled back her arm leaving Hunter dumbfounded.
Leila went towards Tammy. She didn’t have to explain to her. From the way she looked at her, she already knew that she had to go.
“Are you really sure about this?” Tammy asked calmly.
There was seriousness and danger laced in the way she said those words.
Leila only nodded her head as Tamika let out a deep sigh and looked away.
“You know that there might be some consequences in your actions, Leila. You must be careful and dying isn’t one of the options that you must take.” Tammy’s words sent shiver down her spine.
Leila swallowed hard as she stared at her.
Tammy looked back at her.
There was a hint of menace reflecting her eyes and right there and then, she felt fear creeping into her entire system. However, there was a pint of hope and gratefulness that this might not be inevitable. Her life is in danger but she was assured that the least she could do for Hunter is for him to be safe.
She didn’t want him in this battle.
If his words were true, this is the right thing to do.
“Make sure not to let Hunter go to the Triad. This is the only thing that I want to ask you, Tammy.” Leila stated pleadingly.
Tammy’s forehead creased as she looked at her intently.
It was as if she was trying to decipher what was in her mind. But she looked away. She didn’t want her to see what was running in her mind right now although she knew that she couldn’t read minds.
Perhaps she could simply give away her thoughts because of her facial reactions.
She was indeed easy to read.
“But-”
“Please, Tammy… I don’t want to endanger his life.” She cut whatever Tammy’s words were.
Tammy let out a deep sigh.
But she didn’t hear anything.
She held her hands pleading her to stop Hunter.
Because she knew that he would go after her. He would certainly go towards the Triad base and it was more dangerous for him.
“You know that I can’t promise you anything, Leila. But I will try…” Tammy said coldly.
It was enough for her. Perhaps she could use the time to think and plan to escape without endangering anyone close to her.
“And please be careful. If I succeeded in escaping or even finding out the truth about my father’s death I know that they will come after you and Hunter. Please be safe.”
Those were the words she told Tammy before she went back to the Triad base.
She and Tammy have to plan so Hunter won’t be able to find out that she went back already. She needed time. Besides, she also needed time to think and consider a lot of things.
*** End of Flashback…
“You should have stayed. You should have listened to Tammy’s words.” Silver commented darkly.
Leila let out a deep sigh.
“You know that I can’t stay there and endanger them, right?” Leila replied immediately.
Then, she shook her head.
“After everything that I have done, I can’t also go back to the Moon Howlers Pack with Hunter.” There was a hint of melancholy in her tone of voice which didn’t escape Silver’s ears.
Silver groaned in frustration.
Perhaps she knew what she meant. It might be egoistical, but she didn’t want to lose face. Besides, she wanted to finish this. If Hunter’s words were true, there must be something more with the Triad’s masked leader.
Why did he have to tell her those things?
Why did he tell her about Hunter’s parents, who killed her father?
Where did he get that information?
Or was he lying to her?
But if that was the case, why?
Why does he have to lie to her?
What does he want?
All of those questions kept on running inside her head. And she knew that she wouldn’t get answers if she stayed at Tammy’s home. She had to find out the truth.
The good thing that she had for a moment of coming there was the fact that she had seen Hunter and talked to him.
She had a glimpse of their side his parent’s side.
And even if she didn’t want to believe Silver was right. She had to consider. Besides, Hunter… She knew that he wouldn’t want her to get hurt. She knew that he wanted her to be safe.
Well, she might consider his words but her mind was still in chaos, and she had to think rationally.
For the meantime, she had to concentrate on going back to the Triad base. She had to make sure that no one would see her. She had to make sure that no one suspects her of going out of their base without permission.
