Chapter 82
Warning
***
Hunter didn’t know how long he had been sitting on that unfamiliar barn.
All that he knew was the fact that Leila broke up with him already.
And her words kept on playing inside his mind like a broken stereo.
It was as if his could also hear his heart breaking inside his chest. It was excruciatingly painful. It was something that he was silently hoping to be just a dream… a nightmare.
But it wasn’t.
He knew that it wasn’t the case.
This is real.
A painful reality.
He swallowed the lump in his throat as he tried to calm himself. He came in the South quietly hoping to find Leila. At least to make sure that she is unharmed… by any means. But he knew that wouldn’t be possible.
Leila is in deep pain.
And so did he.
For now, what settled him was the fact that he found her at least that was the only consolation he had right now. She is safe and sound. She is fine. And she found someone that could be with her even though he didn’t saw her a while ago when he woke up.
Hunter pursed his lips tightly as he tried to contain his own emotions inside him.
Because what else could he do?
Leila wanted to break up with him already. And she did.
What else could he do?
He couldn’t force her to stay with him… to be with him.
That might be too much of him when he all knew what she was getting through. But…
Hunter let out another deep sigh as he stood up with his shoulders a bit sagged.
Leila didn’t want to be with him and that was it.
It would be too obnoxious of him to stay there for a bit more… even if he wanted to. Even if he knew deep within him that he wanted to stay there for the meantime silently hoping that he could still see Leila.
But apparently, it was a slap to him that Leila didn’t want anything to do with him already. And that was breaking him the most.
He bit his lower lip to stop himself from getting so emotional as he tried to stop the unshed tears slowly forming in his eyes.
Is this where the saying that goes, if you love someone, set her free?
Hunter let out a loud curse inside his mind.
He couldn’t believe that it could be so heartbreaking and painful.
Leila is just too stubborn to even listen to him.
But maybe, this wasn’t the right time.
She still needed to hear the truth. At least his parents’ truth… His parents’ side.
‘But would she believe it?’ A part of him commented breaking him more.
Then, he instantly shook his head.
Maybe he would just cross the bridge when he gets there.
However, there is something that he knew of… Something that he is sure to know…
Whatever decision she could come up with he would accept. Well, he would accept… after he does everything to win her back.
This is not the end for them.
He believed that. He would still pursue Leila no matter what. He believed she is his mate his destiny. And he would make sure to follow his destiny to be with her… forever.
Hunter looked above as he instantly covered his eyes with the blinding light.
Going back home now doesn’t mean; he would certainly let Leila go.
He will just give her space and time. At least he knew that she is safe. At least he knew where she is.
If he is to ask, he would simply want to stay but he knew that he couldn’t. He would just make Leila feel uncomfortable. Perhaps, he would just find the right time for them to talk again.
Hunter went back to the pack community. Myrtle and Hector instantly saw him as he arrived. His parents were nowhere to be found maybe they were still investigating the horrible things that was happening around the pack.
“D-Did you find her?” Myrtle asked softly but he knew that she already had a clue of what might have happened because of the way he looked at her.
Hector, on the other side, took a deep breath.
“Don’t worry, I can find you some other girls and- Ouch!” Hector uttered but his wife immediately gave him a punch in his stomach causing him to shout in pain.
Hector was about to say something when he met Myrtle’s glaring eyes causing him to simply keep his mouth shut.
“At least she is safe. For now, let’s continue to work for the pack.” That was all that he could tell them.
He didn’t want them to worry. And worst, he didn’t want them to see him so weak. It won’t help him anyway.
However, the two simply followed him with their worried looking eyes quietly hoping that he could soon find his own happiness.

It was almost dark when Hunter decided to go to the backyard. Hector and Myrtle were asking him to stop working already and get some rest. But he didn’t want to.
However, Myrtle warned him already and he didn’t want her to draw her pregnancy card again.
He breathed deeply as he felt the familiar melancholic feeling again.
But his forehead creased as he felt an odd presence nearing him.
“Who the heck are you?” He dangerously inquired.
A familiar woman with jet black long hair and strange looking face appeared in front of him. Those deep purple eyes and purple tinted lips weren’t easy to forget. He knew her.
“What are you doing here? Are you with Leila?” He instantly asked hoping as he looked behind her.
The woman shook her head.
Her cold looking eyes were directed at him. He almost felt shiver down his spine. There was some eeriness behind this woman.
“Who are you? How did you find Leila? Are you her friend?” He asked curiously one after the other.
Her expression didn’t even change. She was just looking at him with her face void of any emotion. For a moment, Hunter remembered Leila.
“I am Tamika. And, yeah, perhaps you can call me that. Leila’s friend. But I am not here to talk about those things that you are curious about. I am here to give you a warning.” She said perilously.
Hunter swallowed hard.
“A w-warning? What do you mean?” He asked enquiringly.
The woman named Tamika stared at him like he was staring at a lost soul.
“Protect Leila at all costs. She is so stubborn. Follow her. Make sure to always stay at her side. That is the only thing that I could do for the both of you. You already know where the barn is, right?” She asked like she was apprehensive about something even though he couldn’t see it in her expression or even from her eyes.
Hunter simply nodded his head.
“Then, just go to the north. You can find a massive tree that will lead you to my home. It is where Leila is living now, too. Come to the house as soon as possible.” Those were the only words from Tamika before she left him there weighing down his thoughts.
And before the sun finally sets, he came up with a decision.
He would go to the South. He will make sure to protect Leila. He would make sure to stay by her side.
