Chapter 67

“Where the heck are you going?!” Hector asked him, annoyed.
He even tried to block his way.
It was as if he was trying to stop him from coming after Leila.
“Hector…” Myrtle’s voice was trying to stop Hector from being so rude at him.
Then, she looked at them with pure concern.
Hector gritted his teeth as if he was just trying to contain himself.
Well, he was, either.
He was trying to contain the various emotions that kept on swirling up his entire system.
But Hunter was as stubborn as a mule. He ignored him as he walked past their parents who were still looking blankly, as if they were trying to process everything.
“I will get back… And when I do, I want some answers…” He stated using his coldest and most dangerous tone of voice.
Hector’s forehead creased.
“You can’t-”
But their father, Hudson, simply raised his right hand in the air as if stopping the both of them.
And then, he looked at him seriously.
“Be careful… We will wait for you.” He simply replied making Hunter clench his jaw.
He fisted his hands digging his nails into his own palms. He silently went out of the mansion and tried to follow Leila’s scent.
This is just so dangerous for her.
To get out of the pack at this hour, and without any lesson of survival.
She didn’t even know the places yet. Perhaps, the easiest but Leila is not so good with directions. And it was the reason why Hunter had to go after her.
He was worried.
No.
Being worried was certainly an understatement.
He whispered a low curse under his breath as he decided to shift into his wolf form.
With that, he could be able to find Leila more easily.
He followed the scent with his mind wanting to focus on his own beloved.
Even though his mind was stirring around circles… Clouding with so many questions… Wanting some answers…
Until he found himself clenching his jaw as he sympathized with Leila.
How could she deal with this kind of situation now?
What will happen to them?
Will she be okay?
What could he do for her now?
Those were only some of the things that we were trying to mess up with his mind making it more chaotic.
However, above all of those things there was one thing that he wanted to know and hoped for… For her to be safe and sound right now.
Hunter stopped his tracks as he heard a faint growling sound.
It was kind of furious but there was more to it… As if screaming for danger in the middle of its melancholic sound.
And it was something that made him more and more concerned.
He knew that it was Leila’s. He knew that it was her. And he had to find her… fast!
His heart was beating so loudly inside his chest.
It was as if right there and then, he wanted to see her… hug her… feel her…
He wanted to let her know that whatever happens, he is always there for her.
But how?
His canines bared as he felt his heart being hammered, giving him so much unbearable pain. He wanted to scream why did all of this happen?
He wanted to give his parents the benefit of doubt.
But how?
When did he see guilt in their expression before he went out?
Besides, he knew that his parents weren’t saints. They could kill especially when it comes to safety and security. They could hurt someone that’s part of their enemy and when they started the war.
And he couldn’t understand where their reason fell if this was really the truth.
Would that matter if that’s already the truth?
Would that reason whatever it is matter to Leila?
Her father died.
And the worst part is his parents caused it to happen.
They killed her father.
And that is enough reason for her to hate his parents… their family… even him.
That is enough reason for them to not be together… for them to break apart.
And it was just painful to think that way.
It was just too hurting to think about that possibility.
And no matter how much he tried to find something that could ease that pain he couldn’t find anything. Because he knew that her emotions right now were valid.
Even Hunter…
If they exchanged situations, he knew that this might be his initial reaction.
In fact, Leila just chose to run away instead. If he was in her position, he might stay and just end it right there and then. He might have fought until the end and have gotten justice for his parents.
Hunter swallowed hard as his pinkish tongue came out from his mouth.
He was hoping that he could still change Leila’s mind.
Then he could still find a way to convince her to go back.
‘For what?’ A part of his mind asked.
And that only made his mind go blank.
He was running meteorically trying to make sure that Leila’s scent could still be found in the air.
Perhaps, for now, that was his only goal.
To find Leila and keep her safe.
Then, he might just cross the bridge when he gets there.
For the first time in his life, he had no plan.
Every decision he had right now depends on Leila’s choice.
Then, her scent was getting stronger as he ran into that certain part of the forest.
His worries grew as he knew where that part of the forest was leading him to. And it was not a good decision if this continues.
He was just praying to the moon goddess that his hunch is not right. He was just hoping that Leila had not gone there yet.
To the southern side.
The most dangerous part of this forest.
Hunter ignored the pain from the thorns from certain bushes and trees. He ignored the rocks that were cutting his naked feet. He ignored the exhaustion that was slowly eating him up.
All that he wanted right now was to find Leila.
That is all that matters.
Then, he took an abrupt stop. He sneered as he looked up. His black snout snipping in the air hoping that he could still find Leila’s scent.
However, it ends there.
Hunter shifted back into his human form.
He looked around with his forehead creased.
‘How did that happen?’ He mentally asked himself.
He couldn’t find Leila’s scent all of a sudden.
Even his inner wolf was growling inside him frustrated at not knowing where Leila was.
Then, something caught his eye.
He felt shiver down his spine as he walked towards it… while swallowing hard.
His eyes slightly moistened with unshed tears as he bit his power lip, causing it to bleed.
He let out a low curse as he frantically looked around… hoping that he could see Leila… hoping that she was just there.
His worries heightened… especially at what he saw.
“What happened to you, Leila? Where are you?” He uttered in a whisper hopeless and in deep pain.
As his eyes moved back to those blood bathing the dried leaves and huge roots of that particular tree.
And by the scent of it he knew… It was Leila’s.
He can’t go wrong.
And he hated it.
