Chapter 58
Tease
***
“We have to continue the investigation.” Hector declared with pure resolve.
But Elder Howard shook his head as if he totally disagreed with him.
Of course.
Who would want to endanger them?
They all knew that there was something fishy going on about these morbid things happening and Elder Howard just wouldn’t want them to be on the line.
After Elder Morrigan have gone home, since Myrtle and Leila weren’t around the mansion because the servant omegas told them that she went to the training area to accompany Leila in her training, the good elder said that he had an urgent meeting with the betas and leader of their pack, so he had to go back immediately.
So, now, they decided to go to Elder Howard’s place instead. They have to continue talking about addressing the problem especially the one that happened near their border.
But it looked like Elder Howard simply wanted them to stay put and wait for their parents to arrive. Or it seemed like he was just too worried about his grandson’s stubbornness.
However, Hunter shared the same dilemma as Hector. They have the same thought about this matter. They have the same ordeal to make sure of the safety of their pack. They were there to make sure that they handled the pack well.
Their parents asked them to. And so, they have the responsibility to take care of the pack and solve whatever issue or problem that comes to their way.
Besides, there were the next to lead their pack especially Hector.
He had to weigh the responsibility for the pack and prove his capability as the next leader. And it was something that he had to be done now.
Hunter sighed inwardly.
He knew that this wouldn’t be easy.
Especially that whoever was doing this they might know something about the pack already and they knew that their parents weren’t there. Aside from that, they knew some weaknesses and escapes about the pack making it easier for them to create some trouble, like what happened today.
And now…
Hector is in the spotlight of it all.
And it was something that Hunter had been experienced already. He had been there experiencing the pressure, the weigh, and the responsibility especially as to what they have given to him as the next leader.
And so, Hunter knew that this was something inevitable for Hector. Something that he couldn’t escape. And the only thing that he could do for him was to share his burden and to be his beta. They could help hand on hand about this matter.
Right now, Hunter realized how his position as a beta has a crucial for the alpha who was leading the pack. He learned to appreciate something that it was important for an alpha to have a beta that he could trust.
And so, it made his position even more challenging and of course, threatening for the position of the alpha.
However, right now, Hunter knew that being the alpha of the pack was just a position that he had no dream of getting to. He was already contented in his position now. And he realized that he had nothing to compare to especially to his own brother, Hector.
Elder Howard let out a heavy and deep sigh.
And they already knew that even though Elder Howard disapproved of them leading the investigation, he couldn’t stop them. Especially when they decided to do it. That only proved that they all knew everyone too well.
“I talked to Henry a while ago. He told me that he had no clues yet. It seems like whoever is behind this, they are really so cautious.” He informed them seriously.
He was hoping that this could be a clue that Elder Howard couldn’t stop them even though he had the power to. Hector and Hunter wouldn’t simply stay put and let everyone to work for them.
And that made this pack even more reliable and outstanding. They lead and they work with the people around them. Regardless of danger that they might be facing.
Hector’s brows furrowed as he heard his words.
Perhaps, it was because of both curiosity and concern.
He had the same expression as him though.
Who wouldn’t when they all knew that Butler Henry is one of the best when it comes to this line of work. It would be a surprise to know that he hadn’t got a single clue yet.
It just intensified the heavy atmosphere around them.
Elder Howard finally let out a deep sigh. It seemed like he had come to a point where he knew that he couldn’t stop them anymore. Well, even from the very beginning, he knew he couldn’t stop them.
They were as stubborn as their parents though. He already knew that. And being with them left with them while their parents were away, he already had a sudden headache.
“Fine…” He finally agreed even though it was something that he didn’t want to say or agreed upon.
Then, he looked at them darkly.
“But you have to make sure to be careful. I don’t want anything to happen to any one of you.” He told them seriously.
The two nodded their heads in agreement.
Of course, they wouldn’t let anything happen to them. But it speaks out loud to know that Elder Howard finally gave them his word. At least they knew that he had given them his trust to find out whoever is behind this morbid thing happening near the border.
He nodded his head as he stood up as if he was already ending this short meeting.
Hector and Hunter also stood up. They didn’t want their grandfather to change his mind or anything. Better they have to make sure that what he had agreed to couldn’t be changed anymore.
“We will be going then, grandpa…” Hector stated bidding their goodbye.
While Hunter simply looked at their grandfather as if bidding his goodbye through it.
However, Elder Howard’s left brow shot upwards as he gave Hunter a teasing smile. Hunter couldn’t stop himself as his forehead creased.
“How is Leila?” He asked out of the blue making Hector smile sheepishly.
There was something odd from the way Elder Howard asked him, and they all knew that it was not because of Leila’s wolf but something else.
Hunter groaned in embarrassment as he looked away.
“Fine.” He murmured with his face slightly turning pale pink already.
Hector chuckled making Hunter glare at him. He simply cleared his throat and looked away like he was innocent with everything that was happening.
He groaned inwardly.
Elder Howard simply nodded his head but there was a playful smile in his face already.
“You are in a relationship with her now?” He suddenly inquired trying to hide the friskiness in his voice but failing miserably.
Sometimes Hunter couldn’t believe how strange their family was. That in the middle of something serious that was going on around the pack they could still insert something as odd as this. Even asking him such personal things.
Hunter scoffed at him.
“Just stop asking things, grandpa…” He replied didn’t want to share anything to them.
But Hector, his stubborn as a mule brother, just wouldn’t shut up.
“Of course, grandpa… They even kiss everytime they got a chance.” He revealed as he laughed his *ss out loud.
“What the f*cking… You shut the heck up, Hector!” Hunter warned him, embarrassed as his face already in bright red.
Elder Howard and Hector just laughed at him and all that he could do is to walk out of there. If not, he would simply die in embarrassment.
What could he do?
Whenever he was with Leila, he couldn’t help but to forget everyone around.
“Damn that freaking Hector!” He uttered as his face still as red as a freaking ripe tomato.
