Chapter 50
Nightmare
***
Leila was a bit disappointed.
She had cooked some of his favorites hoping that he would come home tonight like what he said this morning, but she was wrong.
Leila couldn’t help but let out a deep sigh as she saw the dishes on her hands.
She had cooked some citrus coconut steamed cod, glazed salmon, brown sugar-glazed salmon with steamed vegetables, and cinnamon apple pork chops. She even had prepared some vegetable soup and berries tart.
She let out another deep sigh then, the plates suddenly went out from her hands. She looked back to see who it was and it was Myrtle, who was smiling at her. She looked like she had been looking at her for a long time now.
“I know that you are a bit disappointed.” She said the words lightly as she placed the food in some container so, the servant omegas could finally put it in the fridge.
Then, she looked at her.
“But this can’t be help, Leila. Hunter and Hector need to go somewhere that Elder Howard had ask them to go.” Myrtle explained further.
This time, Leila gave her a small smile.
“I know.” She said as she shrugged her shoulders at that like it was a simple thing.
Then, she let out a deep sigh.
“But it’s just a bit disappointing, yes. I guess I have to prepare myself for more of this, huh?” She tried to lighten up their conversation.
Because right now, that was what she truly felt.
She was a bit disappointed.
However, she also understood. She also knew that this is Hunter’s life. She understood about it. Besides, he is one of the sons of the Moon Howlers Pack. He had duties and responsibilities for the pack.
And by living there for a short period of time, Leila understood everything.
She was just… a bit disappointed.
And based on the looks of it, Myrtle understood her, too.
“Well, I think I don’t have to say more. Just make sure to communicate with each other, Leila. It is better to talk it out. Tell him that you are a bit disappointed about what happened today. That way, you could better understand each other.”
That was all that Myrtle have told her before she went to her room and prepared herself for bed.
Leila let out a deep sigh.
“Myrtle is right. You can just talk it out with Hunter.” Silver commented silently inside her.
She let out a deep sigh.
“I guess, you are right.” She agreed with her before she closed her eyes because of exhaustion.

She woke up in an unfamiliar place.
“Where am I?” Leila uttered in a whisper as she looked around.
“Where are you?!”
She heard a familiar voice but she didn’t know where it was coming from.
‘Who is there?’
Leila tried to say but no matter how much she tried to voice it out, she couldn’t. Nothing came from her mouth.
‘What is happening? Silver?’ She tried to call her inner wolf, but there was no response.
She was confused… And a bit scared.
“W-Where are you…”
There was that voice again.
But this time, she was stunned to realized that it was her who was saying those words.
‘What the heck is happening?’ There was hint of panic in her entire system already.
Leila couldn’t stop herself from trembling.
And she knew that it wasn’t just because of confusion but also… fear. It was slowly creeping into her entire system. It was making her legs tremble.
She felt her heart became heavier and heavier as seconds passed by.
Especially when she tried to look around.
Then, her eyes widened in shocked.
She knew this place.
It was all familiar to her.
However, her thoughts were halted by the eerie howling sound echoing around her. She felt the hair at the back of her head stood up. She felt her hands sweat and so was her forehead.
She swallowed hard as her eyes widened in shock.
Another growling sound resonated this time, it was a bit louder and longer.
It was as if it was giving her a warning.
Her hands automatically flew to cover her mouth and stop herself from creating any sound. That was the only time she could see her hands.
Those were so small like what she saw in her dreams…
Then, she realized something.
She held her face…
‘Am I in my dreams… again?’
But it felt so real.
She felt like this is all real.
Then, the growling sound was becoming a bit louder causing her to stop whatever that was she was thinking about. Her chaotic mind was making her rational thoughts a bit cloudier.
Damn it!
“I have to hide…” She heard her own voice spoke.
Her heart was booming so loudly inside her chest like anytime it could already break her ribcage. Her feet started to walk slowly even though it was already shaking in fear.
Leila tried to walk slowly towards a huge tree.
She was shuddering and she was trying her best to move her feet and save herself, but then she stepped on a twig and formed a loud snapping sound. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she felt her heart skip a bit.
The growling sound resonated it almost made her shriek, if she was not fast enough to cover her mouth with her hands.
Then, she immediately ran towards the huge tree and hugged herself there.
Her heart was thumping so bleakly inside her causing her eyes to get hazy with ushed tears. She was silently praying not to get caught even though she didn’t even know what was happening, really.
“N-No…” She uttered inaudibly as something flashed in her mind but it was unclear.
Leila didn’t know what it was, but she knew that it was something important. She knew that it was something that was making her heart heavier and causing her pain. She knew that it was somehow connected to what was happening to her now.
‘But what it is?’ Leila asked herself.
She hugged her knees and hid herself in the massive tree.
The barking sound continues as she felt her entire being shuddering in distress.
She closed her eyes and silently uttered a prayer.
However, she felt a presence and it was something that made her heart leap.
She was so scared that she slowly opened her eyes.
But that only made her heart stopped as she saw those swollen red eyes, looking down on her like they were ready to devour her.
She let out a loud shriek… And everything just turned black.

“Leila… Leila…”
She instantly opened her eyes as she felt herself panting like she had forgotten to breath. She was a bit disoriented as she tried to calm herself.
“Hey, are you okay?” It was Hunter’s voice laced with so much concern.
However, all that she could do was to look at him and hugged him tightly.
She was just so scared.
Her tears started to fall from her eyes like waterfalls. Her heart was like hammering into pieces causing her to breath hardly. Everything was just so clear in her heard now.
“Shhh… It’s just a dream. Everything will be fine… I am here.” Hunter whispered near her ear.
Leila felt his warmth as it eased her scared heart.
His words felt like a lullaby calming the harsh beating of my heart.
His presence soothed the pain driving it away.
Leila didn’t know what her nightmare is all about but there was one thing that’s for sure, she was just so grateful that Hunter was here with her.
didn’t want to think more about it… Even just for now. She wanted to be caged in his arms tightly… As she hoped that his words would come true… That everything will just be truly alright.
This time, she wouldn’t face her nightmare all by herself.
