Leila smiled discreetly as she saw Hunter frown a bit when their eyes met. She chuckled silently as she looked away.
“You and Hunter seem to be a bit… closer now, huh?” Myrtle tried to make it sound like she was striking a simple and friendly conversation but she could sense playfulness in her tone of voice.
She bit her lower lip as she felt her cheeks burned in embarrassment.
Myrtle smiled at her genuinely. It was as if she knew what she was thinking about already. But Myrtle simply chuckled at that.
“Hunter… He had been through a lot already. and I knew that you have discovered some of it. I just hope that this time, he wouldn’t get hurt.” Myrtle stated seriously before looking back at her.
She let out a deep sigh.
“He has always been my closest friend. A brother. And I am hoping for the best for him. And you, Leila, I could see that you love him truly. Hector and I were happy to know that you truly love and care for him.” Myrtle commented with a small smile on her face.
It was as if she was telling her that she was glad for whatever that was going through between them.
And it was a great thing for her.
She valued the people around them especially those who were close to Hunter. Ahe valued their thoughts, and she would love to know that they were in their side in this blooming relationship that she had with Hunter.
“In fact, we couldn’t believe that we could see this side of Hunter.” Myrtle’s smile widened as look at me.
Leila gave her a small and shy smile.
She was about to tell her something, when she almost jumped in shocked to feel a warm and strong hand hold her waist.
Leila looked at Hunter, who was grinning at her ear to ear.
She bit her lower lip as she stopped herself from swooning at him. Her heart was beating so crazily inside her.
“I’m sorry, Myrtle, but I have to talk to this lady here.” He said mischievously and pulled her out without even waiting for Myrtle’s words.
He held her hand like she was such a fragile thing. And Leila couldn’t stop herself from feeling like her stomach was full of butterflies inside it. She couldn’t stop being giddy around him.
Damn it!
They stopped at the bench under the huge tree. The garden was in front of them as the wind blew her black, long, wavy hair. Silence filled them as if they were trying to enjoy the presence of each other.
Leila took an inaudible inhale.
Then, Hunter held her hand and pulled her closer to him.
She gasped in shock but it was short-lived. She wrapped her hands around his waist as she felt him put his face on her neck, inhaling her scent. She could feel his ticklish breath and all that she could do was to hold her breath and bit her lower lip.
“Finally, an alone time with you…” He whispered under his breath but it was enough for her to hear and even made her heart race.
She was just hoping that he wouldn’t hear her loud heartbeat.
However, their quality time together were bothered by a loud calling from his brother.
“Hunter! Let’s go! Stop being so-”
Hector’s words were stopped by Myrtle, who might have given him a good pinching in his stomach.
Leila chuckled inaudibly.
But when she looked at Hunter, he didn’t even move a bit. Even though she knew that he heard everything. He just wouldn’t budge.
“H-Hey… Hector is calling you…” She told him as he slightly moved.
She was about to move a bit when he pulled her closer to him. He was hugging her tighter. She couldn’t help but to chuckle. He looked like a child who didn’t want to go away from her.
“Hunter! We will be late!” Hector called him from afar this time, there was already an urgency in his voice.
She was about to call Hunter, when she heard him curse.
“Damn, Hector!” He uttered in a low tone and frown as he pulled away from her.
She gave him a small smile.
Then, he let out a deep sigh and faced her.
His deep ocean blue eyes were looking straight at her like he wanted to say a lot of things. He could see a lot of emotions reflecting in his eyes and she couldn’t help but to swallow hard.
He held her both hands and slightly pressed it.
“I have to go somewhere with Hector. I want to be with you, but I have to go. I will make sure to do this and fast. And I want you to cook for me for dinner, okay?” Hunter spoke lighter this time.
Then, he smiled causing her heart to melt.
She nodded her head at him as he leaned towards her and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. All I could was to close her eyes and feel his lips on her skin.
Then, he looked at her straight in the eyes.
It was like a magical feeling… a dream that had finally come true.
And Leila couldn’t stop herself from saying the words that she longed to tell him.
“I love you…” She confessed in a whisper.
Hunter’s lips slightly parted apart. Then, he swallowed hard and blinked his eyes a few times. And she was awed to see his faced slightly turned pinkish.
“Damn it, Leila… Stop making my heart fall for you more and more…” He uttered like he couldn’t contain the emotions boiling inside him anymore.
He smiled at her sweetly.
“I love you more…” He professed emotionally and before she could even say more words, he leaned towards her and gave him a sweet kiss on her lips.
Leila was a bit surprised but she couldn’t stop but to respond to his tender and loving kisses.
This time, she knew that she would surely love Hunter with all her heart.
She would love him with everything she had.
And that is a promise, she would always keep in her heart.
