Chapter 47
Dream
***
Even when she was already in her bed she couldn’t sleep. It was as if everything that Butler Henry told her was still lingering inside her mind and she couldn’t move on from it.
Leila couldn’t believe what she discovered about Hunter. Although she had to take more information from Butler Henry for she really wanted to know more about him.
Besides, it wasn’t as if she had asked Butler Henry to spill the beans the deepest secrets about Hunter.
Leila let out a deep sigh as she moved to the other side of her bed. She stared at the moon shining brightly in the night sky. She swallowed hard as Butler Henry’s words resonated in her mind.
*** Flashback…
“What do you mean?” Leila curiously asked after hearing Butler Henry’s words.
She was not a fool. She knew that there was more to it than what he had told her. And she wanted to know. She was eager to know especially when it was about Hunter.
Butler Henry stared at her seriously as if he was weighing down her expression. Then, he let out a defeated sigh. Of course, he wouldn’t say ‘no’ to Leila. That is how charming she was.
Leila groaned inwardly because of that thought.
She had to be serious right now.
This is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Especially when Butler Henry looked at her straight in the eyes. There was something in the way he looked at her that made her stop thinking about anything and listen.
“I have no right to tell anything but since I am the one who’s been with Master Hunter since he was young I will tell you the things that I know, Miss Leila. I want you to know this because I know that my master has a special place in your heart.” Butler Henry seriously stated causing her to swallow hard.
Butler Henry looked at the flowers around as if his reverie had drifted back in the past. Leila, on the other hand, wanted to speak about it. However, she knew that she had to bite her tongue and wait for it.
“Master Hunter is labeled to be the shadow of his older brother. And I know that I have mentioned it to you already, Miss Leila. But there is more to it than meets the eye.” Butler Henry revealed causing her to look at him, shocked.
Her lips slightly parted apart as she listened to his next words.
“He felt like he was always the second best. Even to the people around him and with that he isolated himself. It created a lot of insecurities inside him as he was growing older. It is one of the reasons why he had this wall with his Master Hector.” Butler Henry explained before looking at her.
She swallowed the lump in her throat.
“I just hope that whatever happens, you will choose to love Master Hunter even his imperfections, Miss Leila. At his very young age, I know that deep inside him, he hopes for someone who would make him the first. Who would see him as him. And who would love him dearly. I think it is something that he longed for even from his parents.” Butler Henry added with a hint of pleading in his voice.
She smiled at him and simply nodded her head in agreement.
“Thank you, Butler Henry. At least now, I have realized a lot of things. I can now understand Hunter… well, a bit more. Don’t worry Butler Henry, I will do my best to understand Hunter…” Leila replied smilingly.
‘And to make him happy…’ She added inside her mind.
*** End of Flashback…
She still can’t believe that Hunter had this kind of side.
It was as if she couldn’t believe that someone like him someone so perfect in her eyes could have this insecure side.
However, she knew that no matter what happened, she would definitely embrace his imperfections. Well, she loved him more knowing that no matter how strong Hunter might be on the outside there was still a soft spot in him.
And it was something that made her love him more.
She smiled at that thought as she hugged the soft pillow, quietly thinking that it was Huner.
And with those thoughts in mind, she felt her eyelids become heavier as she had fallen asleep.
***
“Where are you?!”
She knew that those words came from her mouth but she didn’t know why and who she was calling.
“W-Where are you…”
It’s confirmed.
Those words came from her.
But she didn’t know the reason why she was asking that question and for whom.
Then, Leila felt the heaviness in her chest as if her heart was being hammered into pieces.
She didn’t know why. She didn’t know what was happening. She was trying to think hardly why she was in the middle of the… she thought was a forest.
‘I was already in the-”
Her thoughts were stopped by the eerie growling sound.
She swallowed hard as her eyes widened in shock.
Her hands automatically flew to cover her mouth and stop herself from creating any sound. That was the only time she could see her hands.
Those were so small like…
She held her face…
Her mind was in chaos.
But the growling sound was becoming a bit louder causing her to stop whatever that was she was thinking about.
Her heart was booming so loudly inside her chest like anytime it could already break her ribcage.
The roaring sound intensified making her think that whoever owned it must be near her and she had to hide.
Leila tried to walk slowly towards a huge tree.
She was trembling and she was trying her best to move her feet and save herself. She was in the middle of contemplating what was happening when she stepped on a twig and created a loud snapping sound.
The growling sound resonated as if it had caught an intruder.
Her heart was beating so harshly inside her causing her eyes to get blurred with ushed tears.
She knew that anytime soon she would get caught already.
“N-No…” She uttered inaudibly as she hugged her knees and hid herself in the huge tree.
The growling sound continues as she felt her entire trembling.
She closed her eyes and silently prayed.
But she felt a presence as she slowly opened her eyes, she saw those swollen red eyes, looking down on her like they were ready to devour her.
She let out a loud shriek.
***
As she finally opened her eyes.
“Oh, my God! Oh, my God…” She uttered in a panic.
She looked around and she was already in her room.
Leila tried to calm herself.
“It was just a dream, Leila… It was just a dream…” She soothed herself as she tried to breathe calmly.
Yes, it might be a dream but it seemed so real.
And she was still shaking so, Leila hugged her knees as she felt her cheeks filled with tears.
“What the heck was that all about?” She asked herself as she cried in the middle of darkness.
Leila knew that it was just a dream.
But why is it that it seemed to be real?
This wasn’t the first time she had that kind of dream since after the ritual that happened. But it was the first time she saw what happened in her past dreams vividly.
It was so vivid that it was eating her heart painfully.
And right now, all that she could do was to pour out her emotions by crying… to ease the heaviness in her heart which she didn’t know where was coming from.
