Chapter 27
Awake
***
Hunter woke up that day with his head throbbing in pain.
He was in his own room and he was half naked. He was oblivious and he couldn’t think rationally right now. All that he could think of was the fact that his head seemed to be cracking in half.
“F*cking headache…” He cursed under his breath.
The light coming from the sun was already sneaking to him from his curtain. It was a cold morning as the sun was covered with grayish clouds. It seemed like it would soon rain.
He let out a deep sigh.
‘What happened?’ He asked himself bewildered, as he got up from his bed and leaned against the headboard.
He held his pulsating temple as he tried to remember what happened. He felt so weak, too. It was as if he had been into an intense training. And yet, he couldn’t even remember anything as if his mind was too exhausted to do its job and just decided to stop working for a moment.
Hunter groaned in frustration.
He didn’t want this kind of thing. He hated that he didn’t know what happened to him. It was making him more and more frustrated.
“Damn it…” He whispered under his breath.
Then, his door opened widely. Butler Henry’s eyes widened in shocked when he saw him. But it was laced with both worry and relief.
“Master… Finally, you are awake.” He stated as he went to me and gave him some tea.
But his forehead creased when it tasted so bitterly.
“What the heck is this?” Hunter inquired annoyed.
Butler Henry bowed his head slightly scared of his sudden reaction.
“I am sorry, Master. Your Uncle Bob asks me to give this to you. This is your medicine so, you can easily get back on your feet. Miss Leila is-”
His eyes widened when he remembered about Leila.
“Damn it!” Hunter cursed loudly as he instantly stood up.
How could he forget?!
Leila?!
He changed his clothes and immediately went out of his room. He went to where Leila must be. Regardless of how his head was aching terribly his worry was just too much. He was quickly running that he almost bump with Myrtle.
“Hey!” She surprisingly uttered.
And as if that was the only time, he got a hold of his horses. He let out a deep sigh.
“I… I am so sorry…” He stated seriously as he took a swift glance at Leila’s room.
The door was closed, and he simply wanted to go. He was just so eager to make sure that Leila is okay. He needed to see her and make sure that she’s fine now or…
Fear suddenly crept into his system.
“Are you okay now?” Myrtle worriedly asked.
Then, they both heard Butler Henry, who was calling him.
“I am sorry, but I have to check on Leila. Is she okay now?” Hunter inquired full of concern.
Myrtle’s lips stretched into a smile. Her eyes were filled with fascination and amusement. It was as if it was such a rare sight seeing Hunter like this.
Since they were young, Hunter was too good at hiding his feelings. He was so good at masking it that it rarely didn’t appear in his face. It was a rare sight to see him like this so worried.
And it was all because of Leila.
‘It seems like Leila had given a beautiful shade in Hunter’s life, huh?’ Myrtle thought and smiled.
“Don’t worry about her. She is fine now. She woke up a while ago but she needs a lot of rest. And you, too. You look awful. Do you want her to see you like that?” Myrtle said smilingly causing Hunter to look at her.
She nodded her head and smiled at him to lighten up his mood.
Hunter let out a deep sigh before nodding his head. He understood as long as he knew that Leila is already out of danger now. Perhaps, he would just take a shot peek at her later.
“Besides, Leila needs to rest. Why don’t you take a shower and eat your breakfast. Then, you can check Leila later.” Myrtle kindly said.
That was what he was thinking about.
“Yes, Master… Besides, your parents are also asking you to go to the study.” Butler Henry politely intervened making him to look at him.
Myrtle nodded her head in agreement.
“They are already here?” Hunter murmured under her breath before he decided to go back to his own room.
He didn’t even remember that his parents were already here. Perhaps, he needed to face them first before checking on Leila. It was a good thing that Myrtle assured him that she is already fine.

He knocked on the door of the study room.
“Come in…” He heard his father said.
That was his cue and confirmation that they were truly here now.
Hunter entered the room. He saw his parents and Hector as if they had already started talking about something important. And he knew that it was about their plans in eradicating the enemy’s base.
“Are you okay now?” His mother asked seriously but there was a hint of worry laced in her voice.
Hunter nodded his head.
Hera Black nodded her head as if she could finally breathe properly and with relief, knowing that her son is finally safe.
“You have saved that girl.” His father, Hudson Black, pointed it out.
Hera shot her husband a deadly glare but he shrugged it inwardly.
Hunter let out a deep sigh as he stood beside Hector.
“I can’t let her die. It is my fault.” He replied simply.
But it seemed like his father wasn’t convinced at all. He was looking at him intently like he was weighing down his words at him. Then, he smiled evocatively.
Hunter swallowed the lump in his throat as he felt like there was something else behind that smile.
“Well, it is a good decision, anyway. You have saved her.” His father replied seriously.
He was about to ask what the meaning behind his words was but he diverted their topic about their errand with eradicating the enemies’ base.
“We have to go back. Myrtle asks us to go back. I can’t believe that you can’t handle simple matters like this. You know that some elders are just waiting for you to make a mistake. You have to be careful.”
Those were their parents’ words before they get back to their errand.
They have left Hector with the position of an acting Alpha of the pack for the time being. It was one thing that they didn’t do so, they still have to asked for the elders’ approval about such sensitive matters.
It seemed like their parents were just trying to give them a challenge whether they could surpass not having the complete power of being the Alpha of the pack. However, this time, they knew how crucial it was for all of them.
They have to secure them before they go back.
That was the least that they could do now since they couldn’t let anyone handle the case of eradicating the enemy from its roots.
They still don’t know who the ones were connected with the enemies. They have to be extra careful. They have to make sure that they have truly fulfilled their mission.
“Master Hunter!”
The moment he entered the mansion, Butler Henry was already panting as he stopped in front of him. It seemed like he was becoming more and more cautious when they got back from the village.
Perhaps, it was because he was also blaming himself for not being able to take care of Leila. Maybe, he was also blaming himself from not being able to bring her to safety causing her to be like this.
Hunter looked at him coldly as Butler Henry swallowed hard.
“What?” He asked him darkly.
Butler Henry immediately looked so anxious.
And it was making him more impatient. He didn’t want the anticipation it was killing him. And so, he glared at him.
“M-Miss Leila…” He uttered nervously.
“She’s finally awake!” Butler Henry announced causing him to run swiftly towards her room.
She’s finally awake?!
Thank the moon goddess for that!

“M-Master…” Viego called the mysterious man in front of him.
He was trembling and scared out of his wits for he knew that his master was already enraged this time.
“So, they successfully eradicated that base, huh?” His master uttered in pure evilness causing the hair at the back of his head stood up.
He couldn’t ignore the coldness and venom dripping into his voice.
It was in between being sarcastic and furious which means that it was all screaming of danger.
Then, his master let out a loud bark of laughter.
It sent shiver down his spine causing his legs to wobble more.
However, he needed to stand up in front of him while his head bowed. It might be a good thing for him. For he didn’t want to see him reacting this way. It was creepier. His position was a better choice for him.
“It’s fine…” His master said all of a sudden causing Viego to look at him.
Then, he chuckled.
“It’s fine. It is already part of my plan anyway.” He uttered darkly causing his forehead to crease.
‘Does that mean it is just a decoy? That master has already anticipated it to happen?’ That was all that’s running into his mind.
Then, his master stood up proudly.
“But you have to make sure that this time, you will have Leila.” He uttered every single word with emphasis.
It looked like even though his master has anticipated it to happen, it was still a huge blow for them.
“I want her as soon as possible, or else… I will have your head instead.” Master conveyed with all seriousness causing him to tremble in so much fear.
He swallowed the lump in his throat as he tried to utter a word.
“Y-Yes, M-Master…”
That was all that he could say.
Because right now, he knew how serious this matter was to their master. It would mean that he has to work hard to get that woman or else, hell will rise.
