Chapter 14

“Master…” The man with pitch-black hair held his injured neck as he slightly bowed down to a man wearing a black mask and a cape. He was truly a mysterious man hiding his annoyance behind his mask.
“This must be good news, Viego.” The cryptic man coldly said.
His voice was eerie, low, and as cold as ice so cold that it totally made the man named Viejo, who was sweating bullets and was trembling inside because of the news that he was about to spill. The man standing shuddered in fear with his few words. He even couldn’t lift up his eyes.
He swallowed hard as he gathered all his strength to speak.
“W-We already found her.” He fearfully stated.
No matter how much he tried to hide his fear and uneasiness he just couldn’t. How could he be? One wrong move, and he might lose his head in an instant.
Because it there was someone that he knew who was undeniably ruthless and merciless it was the man in front of him.
“And?” His master inquired as he leaned against his throne.
He couldn’t decipher whether it was a good thing or not since his master’s expression was covered with a mask.
Viejo swallowed the lump in his throat for the nth time.
“But s-someone interjected our p-plan.” He finally announced.
“The s-second son of the M-Moon Howlers Pack. He r-rescued h-her.” He fearfully added.
Then, a loud crashing sound resonated throughout the entire place.
“That bastard! He’s still there?! I thought he went home?!” His master’s voice thundered.
“Double our men and go with our plan. No matter what happens, you have to get her! We need that her!” He seriously added before standing up from his throne.
He was certainly gone ballistic that he wanted to kill someone. Perhaps, he would… very soon. He gritted his teeth as he clenched his hands into a balled fists before he furiously thrown away the wine bottles on the table.
“Y-Yes, M-Master.” Viego muttered before leaving him.
He walked slowly while he lifted up his hands and played with his fingers. His mind was in deep thought before he stopped his tracks and smirked.
“Leila… My hidden jewel… I will have you soon.” The man in the mask whispered evilly as he took a dart and threw it in the dart board bull’s eye.
Meanwhile, Leila was worriedly walking back and forth in the living room of Hunter’s mansion.
After what happened, Butler Henry told her that she must not go home yet.
She was glad, to be honest, for she didn’t know where she could go. She thought of her mother, but whichever wolves attacked her last night she didn’t want to include their safety. She didn’t want to go home because they might attack her family. She shivered at the mere thought of it.
Leila swallowed hard.
Everything was still in chaos. Her mind was in turmoil. And she might lose her sanity anytime now.
Who wouldn’t be, right?
She plopped down on the sofa as she bit her lower lip trying to figure out what she must do next.
She couldn’t even feel at ease despite the fact that it was Hunter who had saved her. However, it was better to be with him than with those huge and bloody-eyed whatsoever-animals.
“Master Hunter is okay now.” Her drifting thoughts were interrupted by Butler Henry’s voice.
She flinched a bit as she sat formally on the sofa.
Now, she could finally be at ease because of what he said.
She couldn’t stop castigating herself. Whatever happened, she just couldn’t deny the fact that it was Hunter who saved her… Even though he is…
Leila closed her eyes firmly.
“What really happened there, Miss Leila? And how did you know that he is Master Hunter?” Butler Henry calmly inquired.
She swallowed hard and looked at him. He remained standing like she must say every detail of what she knew or else…
Leila mentally shook her head with those uncalled for and morbid thoughts.
“Miss Leila…” Butler Henry’s cold voice brought her back to reality.
She discreetly heaved a deep sigh.
“I… I’ve seen H-Hunter become the w-wolf that saved me in the forest. I… I should be the one asking you about that Butler Henry. And who are those or rather, what the heck are those? Why are they after me? Why are they so huge and that-”
Leila was already in panic mode. She hadn’t rested the moment she discovered about Hunter, and then…
“What is really happening? Am I in a sort of werewolf show or something?” She suddenly inquired on the spur of the moment.
Then, her eyes widened when she realized what she had just said.
‘Werewolf?’
“Oh, God!” She suddenly whispered under her breath as she held her mouth with her left hand trying to regain her sane thoughts.
Butler Henry heaved a deep sigh before shaking his head.
“I will be explaining everything soon, Miss Leila. For now, you must be exhausted. You can use the guest room just beside Master Hunter’s room.” Butler Henry tried to divert their topic.
Leila wanted to know the truth. She wanted all the details. But he was right. She suddenly felt exhausted. She just wanted to get some rest.
She stood up not realizing what Butler Henry had said. She walked unconsciously towards the stairs. She was already holding the railing when she looked back at Butler Henry who was staring at her, too as if he were confused about what she was doing.
Her eyes widened as excitement suddenly filled her.
“I am not banned on the second floor anymore?!” She said those words using her ecstatic voice.
Butler Henry pursed his lips together. However, Leila didn’t mind anymore whether he would get annoyed at him or not.
‘After everything that happened, Leila, this is what you have been thinking, huh?’ A part of her mind commented, but she was just too ecstatic about that simple fact and even she couldn’t explain why.
“Just rest for now, Miss Leila.” Butler Henry simply replied and went towards the kitchen.
Leila excitedly went upstairs. There was only one room near Hunter’s room, and she couldn’t believe that she wasn’t excluded from that place anymore.
She opened the door, and her mouth suddenly went ajar.
It was truly luxurious. It was just too spacious like it tripled the space of her room.
Leila lay down on her bed. She just wanted to rest, and this spacious room was just too inviting making her drift to sleep.
Meanwhile, in the next room, Butler Henry brought Hunter some soup.
“Are you feeling better?” He plainly asked.
He tried to stand up even though he was totally ill and weak. Surely, he didn’t want to give in to the pain that he was feeling at the moment.
“Where is she?” Hunter coldly inquired as he sat down in his bed.
He instantly rested his aching back against his headboard.
“She’s in the next room.” The kind butler replied.
“I know that you can still smell them lurking around. I already coordinated with Master Hector about this. Your parents went to the Middle Riverstone Pack and the other pack. They will be coming home as soon as possible. They just need to make sure that the packs’ allies are still in a good relationship with us. So, I really had no other choice but to tell it to your brother.” He carefully explained before Hunter could even contradict him.
“And Miss Leila should come. Her life is also in danger because of what happened, and after everything that she discovers.” He added seriously.
Hunter clenched his jaw as he scoffed at his loyal butler.
“And now, do I still have a choice? If I need to drag that woman so she would be coming with us tomorrow-”
“She will come, Master Hunter. I already told her, so you won’t have to worry about it.” Butler Henry cut his words.
By the looks of it, his butler was just too pissed at what happened. He went to the pack for his medicine, and this happened while he was away.
“You know that I won’t just stand here when those rogues are attacking someone, right? And that woman is my slave. Her mother knows me. I won’t just sit here when I can do something.”
Hunter didn’t know why he had to reason it out, but he told him anyway.
He hadn’t healed yet, and he needed to meddle with other people’s business blowing his cover up. But what choice would he have had when someone’s life was in danger anyway.
“I don’t even ask for the details, Master Hunter. Let us just be careful and wait for the sentinels tomorrow before we move to the pack.” Butler Henry simply replied.
“Tsk!” Hunter scoffed before he suddenly turned serious.
“I am just wondering why they targeted that woman? Or is it because they finally discovered that I am here?” Hunter suddenly whispered under his breath.
Butler Henry remained silent, as if he were also wondering why.
