* * * * * Crystal’s POV * * * * *
I arrived at the front door of my step parent’s house. My heart was still beating loudly as a result of what had just happened.
Was my actions wrong?
Leaving him out there in that condition. He deserved it anyway, so why should I feel bad? Why should I feel guilty?
Now come to think of it, he is a werewolf. He would heal very fast and I would not have been much of a help to him anyway, I mean what could I have done? Carry him home or heal his wounds with sorcery? I couldn’t have helped him in any way so I should stop feeling bad.
I looked at my bruised knee and elbows, they were still bleeding. I wonder who would want to kill me, take aside the psychopath I pissed off months ago, I don’t remember getting myself into trouble with any other person, so why the heck did that man try to kill me?
If he was contracted, then who the heck hired him to kill me and why?
At first I thought it was all arranged by Logan, but then after thinking it through, I am certain it can’t be him, he was seriously injured back there and I don’t see why someone would do such a thing to themselves just to win someone’s trust, not even someone like Alpha Logan Stewart.
I am not saying that I hate him any less now, but I know he couldn’t be behind the attack, maybe he just happened to be in the wrong place at the right time. Wait, does that even make sense?
Just then the door opened and my step mom was standing right in front of me. She looked surprised when she saw me, like she had just seen a ghost.
At first, I thought that it was because of my injuries, then I realized that she had not even seen my wounds. So why does she look so spooked? Am I not supposed to be here?
“Crystal, you… You are here?”
I can’t say for sure if that was a question or a statement. If that was a question, then I find it strange. I mean, is she not expecting me to come back?
“Yes Mom-two, is everything alright?” O asked with a scrutinizing look. She was acting really strange.
“No! I mean yes!, Everything is fine, why are you still standing at the door, please come in,” she spoke in a sputter of words.
I walked into the sitting room and slumped into the couch. She closed the door and walked in too.
“Were you going somewhere?” I queried.
“No, I just wanted to take a look outside,” she replied.
Take a look outside? What is wrong with everyone today?
Even Michael was acting strange at school today. When I asked him if he had come to my house on Saturday, he ended up stuttering.
“How is Aidan doing mom?”
“He is getting better, just sad that he couldn’t go to school today.”
My poor son! He loves attending school. I can’t even remember the last time he missed school, but I can remember vividly that he cried throughout that day.
I guess he is still at the level where school is all fun and no stress, where he does not have to bother about raising money to buy textbooks, or sort of wicked sadists that call themselves lecturers. At that stage, yes! School is fun!
I raised my arm up to see if it was still bleeding, it was now paining me more than before.
“Crystal, is that blood on your elbow?” My stepmom asked.
“Yes Mom, I was in a little accident,” I replied.
“Accident? How did it happen?” She queried.
“Well I was about to get hit by a car but then Logan appeared out of nowhere and got in-between the car and I. He was seriously wounded while I got a few cuts, but it’s nothing much though, I am sure I would be fine as soon as it stops bleeding.” I narrated.
“What? Logan got himself injured in order to save your life?” My stepmom asked.
Seriously? She did not even ask how I was feeling or care to check my wounds, rather she was interested in Logan saving my life story. Like seriously, come on!
“You know what this means Crystal, it means he loves you, he cares about you!” She exclaimed.
And it keeps coming. Not only does she care less about my wounds, but she prefers to talk about how Logan loves and cares about me at this moment.
This is the second time she is speaking up in his favor, she is supporting him. I am starting to think that he had paid her to do this. Why else is she always defending him? Trying to convince me to get back with him, what could she possibly gain from that?
“No Mom-two, he doesn’t care about me, he only wants to win my trust just for him to shatter it again. He knows it hurts more when the enemy is someone you trusted, that’s why he would go to any length to win my trust, it’s not the first time he is doing this,” I replied.
She seemed disappointed with my response.
“I personally don’t think so Crystal, unless he has something huge to gain from it and I don’t see what he has to gain from breaking your heart as you have stated, it’s not going to make him richer or stronger.
I am telling you Crystal, that Alpha wolf loves you, he cares about you!” Mom-two stated.
“Please let’s not argue about this mom, I already told you that he is doing this for his selfish gains! That werewolf can’t love any person other than himself. I despise him a lot and I can never forgive or accept him after everything he has done to me, never mom, never!”
My injuries seemed to hurt more as I spoke of Logan. Why is Mom-two even debating this matter, it’s not up for discussion.
“Alright Crystal, if you are certain that you don’t love him or care about him one bit, then there is something I hope you can do for me, your stepdad and I need a favor from the Alpha and only you can get him to do that for us,” she said.
I was surprised. Do they need a favor from the Alpha? What is she talking about, what kind of favor and since when?
“I don’t understand Mom-two, what could you possibly want from the Alpha? I mean, we don’t need anything from him,” I replied.
“No Crystal, what he has to offer to us is priceless and it’s your duty to get that from him!”
Okay, now I am confused. What is this favor that my stepmom is talking about, does she have any relationship with Logan?
