Chapter 115

Book:The Alpha's Hot Chase After Divorce Published:2025-3-14

Rex’s POV.
I adjusted a bit, showing no much interest in the lady who I had no single idea about as I allowed Clark to occupy the seat in between them. I couldn’t stop staring at Elena just no matter how hard I tried.
“So, are you a witch?” Clark asked the blonde haired lady who leaned further as she looked at Clark.
“Well, no. But every founding family has a witch.” She chuckled softly.
“Oh! That sounds awesome. How come I have never heard about it?” Clark questioned as he ordered two shots of tequila.
“Because it’s forbidden to speak about witches.” She shrugged. “When any of the founding families’ witch dies, the family is left without a witch. It is something passed down through bloodline. Witches’ can’t be changed and if the bloodline decides to stay without accepting the vacant role of becoming the next witch, the founding family remains without a witch.” She said in a whisper as she chuckled softly.
I furrowed my eyebrows as I never believed in such traditions. “Witches in the 21st century?” I chuckled inwardly as I rolled my eyes.
“So… why still keep witches?” Clark asked again.
“Well, because it is a long tradition. We all met it and we abide by it. That is why we are the founding families.” She chuckled softly.
Clark ordered the third shots of tequila.
“Are you trying to get me drunk?” She teased as she got up. “I have to leave now.” She chuckled softly as she looked at his lips. “And… I must say, you’re a sexy werewolf. A beta!!” She snapped as she used her right index finger to rub his lips.
“Maybe, we get to see some other time.” She said as she dropped a black and red card on the table.
“As expected.” Clark shrugged as he turned to me. “She is part of the Bohen’s family. Her sister must be Grace.” He mumbled as he emptied the cup of tequila in his mouth.
“And, it’s almost dance time.” He said excitedly as he looked at Marie who had tagged along under Elena’s request.
They made sure they sent Kanu and Kiana to bed before leaving. I looked at my wrist watch as I saw we only had an hour left.
And the long anticipated moment came right after cutting off the cake. “Guess we will see after the dance.” Clark shrugged as he drifted away as he quickly stole Marie away from Elena.
“Okay… okay, you can do this!!” I exhaled sharply as I walked down slowly to where she stood but then, a few steps before approaching her, I saw the least person I was hoping to see around here.
“Hello, Elena?” He said in a husky voice as he stood behind Elena.
Elena turned around and I could see the smile that enveloped her face immediately. “Collins?” She gasped out in shock as she looked right into his eyes.
I couldn’t help the jealousy that left sharp, excruciating pains in my chest. I exhaled lightly as I looked at them. And I couldn’t help my curiosity as well as I allowed my werewolf to eavesdrop on their discussion.
“What are you doing here?” She asked him as they locked eyes together.
“I… I just had to come. Wasn’t expecting to see you here either.” He shrugged as he chuckled softly.
“Rex dragged me out here. You know I am his personal secretary.” She said gently.
“You look gorgeous in your outfit, I must commend you.” He said in a flirtatious tone as he looked at her dress from her bust down to her heels before looking at her hair as he wore a broad smile.
“Oh! Come on, Collins.” She blushed as she lowered her head. “Thank you.” She said as she raised her head.
“And… I must admit you also look awesome. I guess you have got numerous ladies here drooling for you.” She complimented him.
“Really? Well, I don’t give a fuck about them.” He chuckled. “Oh! My apologies for using the ‘F’ word.” He quickly apologized as they both laughed gently.
“Do you mind if I take you for a dance? I guess I will be the most blessed man tonight and who knows? We might end up stealing the show.” He said as he looked at her.
“Come on, come on, Elena. Turn him down!!” I whimpered as I kept on eavesdropping on their conversation as I couldn’t get my eyes off them.
“Ohh! Yeah, sure!! I don’t mind.” She responded as she placed her hand on his open hand.
“Thank you, milady!!” He said before kissing the back of her hand as he took down to the dance floor, joining the lovers and couples on the dance floor.
It felt like my world stopped automatically for a while as the song playing was now like echoes in my ears. I felt my wolf sprawling all over as the pain I felt was deep.
I watched how close they were and all happy she looked as he kept on making the perfect move. “How could she?” I whimpered as I turned around as I walked away.
I remained outside as I stood close to the water fountain. The fanciful light around made the place beautiful and lustrous but then, my beautiful night just became the worst night ever.
“How could she let him kiss her hand? How could she?” I cursed angrily as I smashed the glass cup that I had taken with me as I went outside.
“Rex?” I heard Clark’s voice as I turned around as I looked at him.
He remained quiet as he kept looking at me. I saw the disappointments in his eyes as well and I knew he felt sorry for me now.
I chuckled softly as I looked at him. “You don’t have to say anything.” I muttered as I forced out a smile.
“I… I am sorry for dragging you out tonight.” He apologized as he looked at me.
“Oh, come on!!” I chuckled. “You never did. That scoundrel did.” I cursed as I looked at him. “And he also danced with Elena after attempting to frame me up. Such a dick!!” I cursed as I threw the remaining shattered glass in my hand.
“How about your dance? Don’t tell me you left her there?” I asked as I walked up to him.
“We better return back. We can’t spoil our night.” I said with a smile on my face as tears rolled down my cheeks.
