“Get out!” Mrs Alexander said.
I looked quickly, hoping that she would be taking to Mr Alexander and I was deeply saddened by the fact she was only talking to Merritt. She was only angry at Merritt, what about the cheating partner?!
What about the cheating partner! Not the person they cheated with.
“Aren’t you going to do something about Grandpa?” Regalia Was the first to splutter out her thoughts, she did not fail to hide her disgust.
At this point, j didn’t care about any issues I had with Christian. I went to him and placed my head on his chest, I brought my hand to the back of his neck and I caressed him gently.
“I’m sorry baby” I told him.
His hold on my face waist tightened but he said nothing.
Mr Alexander turned to look at Christian in the, I told you so manner.
“Jesus” Jeandre muttered under his breath, Regalia ran towards where her grandad was standing, Jeandre caught her by her wrist and he pulled her to the stairs but she fought to hit him.
Let’s pack and get the hell out of here” he said to Regalia and they disappeared.
Mrs Alexander stood there crying while Mr Alexander climbed the stairs, unabashedly.
The house staff began thinning as Merritt left the house.
“Let’s go” I told Christian, he was planted to the spot and unpresent, as if a hush of wind could sweep him away even in his tall and strong form.
“Baby let’s go” I said cupping his cheeks, he looked down at me… At first his eyes were empty but they too emotions after a few seconds.
“Come” he said.
He led me upstairs, to Kylee’s room.
“We’re leaving now, get the private jet ready” he said lastly to Wayne.
I walked with him to our bedroom, luckily for me I hadn’t taken out too much clothes from the luggages the helps had packed. He just shoved clothes into his luggages without any care in the world.
“They’re going to come out rumpled” I told him.
He didn’t say anything, I didn’t even know if he heard me. “Christian..” I said again, he packed multiple boxes containing watches and he tried showing them in the already full luggage, they didn’t enter, he pushed it and pushed it and pushed it.
It was torture watching him.
I walked towards him and tried to take the boxes from him. “Stop it” I said.
He didn’t let me take it from him and it practically would never fit into the box.
“Christian, snap out of it”
“Leave me alone” he yelled at me.
He yelled at me , it was the first time since I knew him that he screamed angrily at me. This wasn’t scolding, he was down right angry. Now I understood why Kylee was scared of his anger, and he had never directed at me before.
“You’re angry, fine… Let it all out, stop trying to suppress it”
“Get away from me” he said.
There were new words, it told me enough . It told me that what his mother and father and Merritt had just done, triggered a fear from his childhood. I also had fear from my childhood, that one day everyone would stop seeing me. This was nothing I told anyone about before.
I had a great fear that one day I’ll become unimportant and invisible. When I started getting attention for my beauty I harboured it like a fish monger packing nets of fishes. It took control of me for a while before I learned to grow accustomed to it… I loved the spotlight because it made people see me and love me.
So let it out Christian, let it out.
“You know there is no place for the boxes in the luggages but you keep on pushing it inside”
“Just like how I know there is no place for you in my shitty little life but I keep trying to force you into it”
I was slapped right in the face for his words but I stood my ground, this wasn’t his intimidating side, it was his vulnerable side although the t could be easily confused. It was new realisation, I wasn’t scared of this side.
“Christian, it’s not true”
“What is not tru?” He yelled, “You literally called off our engagement even after I went on my knees, nothing could make you stay then, I was so scared then because I had nothing to make you stay and you would utterly destroy me by walking out on me, did I not try to force you into my life pleas not your ‘supposed love for me’ not my money, not the jewelries, not the fact that you’re carrying my child but a stupid fucking vow”
“I was angry and scared, just as you are now”
I tried to reach for him and take the boxes from him, not because the watches inside cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and in total would result to millions, but because in Christian’s hand anything was a weapon. It was like an impulsive movement, immediately my fingers touched his hand, in attempt to get away from me he flung his hand to the side, exactly what I had feared.
It was a hairline distance that saved the thick box from smashing against the side of my head. I clamped my eyes shut and jerked backwards, what I heard was a loud thrashing sound of the box tearing on impact and it’s metal and diamond content falling to the ground in a clutter of sounds.
The room was quiet, it look me long to remember that the reason everything was dark was because my eyes were shut, and yet I didn’t make an attempt to open it, I could only hear my heart beating crazy in my chest.
“Jenna” Christian called above a whisper.
His voice sounded strange, as if it didn’t belong to Christian at all but someone I wa just meeting for the first time. I opened my eyes and his face was etched in disbelief, he looked hazed as if he was drowning and snatched violently out of the water.
He took one step towards me, fearfully that I might try to run away from him. He took another step again, more scared than the first time and he stopped moving all together.
