“We won’t. I was just saying. Shall we.”Sage nodded and followed him out, Bruno’s lifestyle is too overwhelming for Sage only when they are in her apartment does she find herself, some ground to stand on. In his world she feels totally out of place and that’s how she’s feeling right now sitting in this well maintained restaurant that probably charges a thousand bucks for a meal. Her clothes and make-up might suggest she’s meant to be here, that she fits into this world but underneath everything she is just Sage, plain old ordinary Sage that hardly has a cent.
Then Bruno wants her to marry him, he must be out of his mind he must be, cause why on earth would a man like him want to marry her someone who is totally out of his range and social life she doesn’t match up to him not in this life nor the next. When they had left his home reporters hadn’t been far behind the minute they had stopped and got out of the car their camera flashes had went off, questions were fired in all the directions Sage barely heard a word Bruno had steered her inside without commenting. Now here they are sitting and drinking wine as if they’ve been doing this since forever, a hand on hers snapped her back to the here and now it was Kim.
“Wanna talk?”Her friend asked.
“About me not really but you definitely.”
“Come on Sage the whole reason I agreed to this dinner is so we could talk. One can tell your head isn’t here. Bruno on the other hand is ecstatic you’re here.”Is he? She can’t tell.
“I haven’t noticed.”Sage told her, she quickly glanced at him he was in deep discussion with Luca he surely doesn’t look like a man who’s ecstatic that she’s here.”And why would he be happy that I’m here, when every women in here is greedily looking at him I’m probably in the way of him going home
with a beautiful brunette or blonde.”
His sexy smooth voice close to her ear caught her of guard that a hot shiver rushed through her.”I heard that.”He said.”We’ll discuss whatever you just said later.”Sage felt completely stupid especially since Bruno isn’t hers to claim.
Kim excused them and the two went to the powder room.”What are you doing?”Sage asked when she locked the door.
“We not going anywhere until you tell me what’s really happening here.”
“What if someone will want to use the restroom.”
“Then you better make it quick.”Kim said.
Sage gave a defeated sigh.”I don’t even know what to say.”
“You falling for him.”Kim finally said after a moment of silence.
“I’m so angry at myself, at him, at everything.”She burst out.”Yet at the end of the day it’s no one’s fault but my own. I’m no different from all those other women who fell for him and got their hearts broken I’m next in line and the sad part is I won’t be able to prevent myself from getting hurt, cause it’s too late he already has more than my body, he has something I won’t be able to get back. Ever.”Tears glistened her eyes, but she held back.
“Love is meant to be beautiful. Not bring tears to your eyes.”Kim wanted to give her a hug but she shook her head.
“If you hug me now I’ll burst into tears and considering where we are I don’t think it’s appropriate.”
“How long have you been sleeping together?”
“A few weeks. Before you left for Vegas.”
“That long.”Kim said.”Then why are you so angry?”
“I’m angry because I fell for the one man that’s forbidden. A man that can hurt me more than anyone ever has. He stole my heart Kim, and a man like Bruno can never belong to anyone or anything he told me that himself.”
“He seems content around you. Besides we both know the second you slept with him there was no going back, he’s very over protective with you. I don’t know if you know but a few years back he was engaged to Maya, Hugo’s wife.”
“What!”She asked shocked.
“I was just as shocked when Maya told me.”Kim said.
“Then how come Hugo is married to Maya if she’d been engaged to Bruno.”
“Maya and Hugo fell in love so instead of telling Bruno the truth they kept it hidden and had a secret affair behind his back when he found out he felt betrayed and didn’t speak to his brother they only began talking again recently, he never even went to Hugo and Maya’s wedding.”
“So she’s the reason he doesn’t believe in love anymore.”Sage’s heart sank Bruno had loved someone once and because of that woman he gave up on love she doesn’t think her heart would survive knowing this, he must probably still be inlove with Maya maybe that’s why he cannot bring himself to love anyone else.
“Now that I don’t know.”She heard Kim say, Sage forced herself to listen to Kim even though her heart is burning with uncontrollable jealousy and pain. “Anyway the reason I’m telling you this is because Maya said, in all the years she’s known Bruno she’s never seen him so protective and possessive over anyone before, she said you’re important to him in a way that no other women has been. You special to him.”
“If you saying that to make me feel better. Then don’t it’s not working it also won’t change the fact that he loved her, probably is still in love with her that’s why he cannot bring himself to love another. I don’t even know what to think or say anymore.”
“You don’t know that Sage. Stop speculating and ask him.”
“So I can hurt myself even further. I don’t think so, the only option I have is to suppress these feelings pretend they don’t exist it’s the only way to ensure the day we do part ways it won’t hurt as much.”
“Can you honestly stand there and say you’ll be able to sleep with him without emotion, with no strings attached, that you’ll only give him what he wants. A body. Can you tell me that because from where I’m standing it doesn’t seem that way. Love isn’t a switch that you can turn on and off, what harm will it do if you give things with Bruno a chance as you’ve said he already has your heart what more can he take.”A knock on the door stopped Sage from replying.
When they headed back to their table Sage saw they have guests, Hugo and Maya along with another beautiful woman with black hair Sage can only assume it’s another one of Bruno’s exes the way she’s sitting close to him said alot Camilla was there too a man sitting next to her, the look on Kim’s face told her she didn’t know. After they greeted everyone Sage took her seat and it wasn’t next to Bruno because the black haired beauty has stolen her seat. Camilla told them her twin sister Camille is on her way too. Perfect Sage thought a whole family reunion, the man next to Camilla is her husband and to Sage surprise he’s English not Spanish.”Bruno.”Camilla said.”When is Sage coming over to the house again.”
“Soon.”He said, glancing at her. She felt out of place everyone here is married except for her.
“When are we receiving wedding invitations.”It was Maya who asked.
“You’re getting married.”Victoria the black haired beauty said.”I didn’t know.”
Sage didn’t want to be a part of this conversation it made her feel uncomfortable.”Victoria. Do you mind.”He asked standing up.”Thank you for coming to say hello but this is a family dinner. So please.”He pulled her off the chair.
“Bruno. Wait.”She said.”I wanted to talk. About us. I’m sorry I left, I was confused. Let’s go to my place we’ll have more privacy there.”Sage can bet how that will end.
“Victoria, I really don’t want to humiliate you in front of everyone it wouldn’t be too gentlemanly of me so I suggest you leave. Now. Get rid of my number and don’t call me anymore.”

“Goodnight Victoria.”He came to sit next to Sage again, then did something that made her world spun, he kissed her, deeply right there in the restaurant in front of everyone soft whispers and murmurs can be heard. “As you can see I’m taken.”He added. Taken? Is he really. Everyone around the table was staring at them in amazement, even she herself is shocked at what he said Camilla was gaping at them open-mouthed as if she couldn’t believe what she had just heard, Bruno’s arm slid across her shoulder before moving down to rest low on her back, his kiss has already left her dizzy now his warm palm on her naked back is causing all kinds of wonderful sensations.
