“Which is. That whatever we share is temporarily. No!”She sat upright.”I can’t do that.”
“Who said it’s temporarily.”
“I’m not marrying you if that’s what you had in mind.”
“Why don’t you want to marry me. If you can give me one good reason then I’ll stop bringing it up.”
She couldn’t even give him one good reason, no words came to mind.”I just don’t.”She insisted after a while.”We not meant to be.”
“Maybe it’s time I met your brother he is the uncle of our sons.”
“No!”She said again.”We’re not in a relationship for me to introduce you to my brother. Bruno please I beg you this is my life, we both know after this we’ll be going our separate ways so let’s rather not mislead my brother.”
“We won’t be misleading him Sage but..”He said when she opened her mouth. “If you don’t want him to know that’s your choice not mine I have nothing to hide nor am I ashamed of what we have.”
“What do you mean by that.”She asked, she didn’t like his choice of words one bit. She heard the doorbell.
“Expecting anyone.”He asked.
“Don’t try to divert the topic I wanna know what you meant by not yours.”She stood and wore her clothes.”Bruno…”
“I’m not gonna hide away in here.”He said over her.”Forget it.”
“Bruno please.”She heard the door again, she can see trying to convince him would be fruitless, she rushed to answer it and was surprised to see Kim they haven’t spoke or seen one another in two weeks Sage looked at the beautiful diamond on her left hand, her friend is officially a married woman. Sage saw her holding a bottle of wine.”Kim. What are you doing here?”
“Is that the kind of welcome I get after so long.”She strode past her.”Clearly you didn”t miss me.”Sage put the wine down on the kitchen counter.
“You don’t look too happy to see me. What’s wrong?”Everything Sage thought. “Did something happened when I wasn’t here.”Alot happened and I don’t even know how to tell you or where to begin.
“No nothing is wrong.”Sage smiled.”I didn’t expect to see you so soon I thought the honeymoon would be longer.”
“Luca had a case he couldn’t postpone. I thought we could drink some wine and catch up we haven’t spoken in days.”
“I’d love to but I have to tell you something first.”Sage began, her voice trail off when she saw Bruno coming into the kitchen holding Liam, Kim had a shock look on her face at seeing him she glanced at Sage then at Bruno again.
“Kim.”He drawled.”How nice to see you again I believe congratulations are in order.”
“Thank you Bruno.”She met Sage’s gaze again.”I didn’t know you two-..,”
“We not!”Sage jumped in.”Bruno came to see the boys.”Kim gave her a look of are you serious right now Sage ignored her.”In fact he was on his way out.”
“I wasn’t.”He answered.”Sage and I are seeing each other but she wants to keep it a secret from everyone. I don’t.”
“Bruno..”Sage said through gritted teeth.
“Let’s have dinner tonight the four of us so we can celebrate your marriage. I’ll call Luca to let him know.”
“Sounds like a great idea Sage and I have alot to talk about. Until tonight then.” Sage walked her to the door.”I want to know everything.”She whispered so only Sage could hear.
“Bruno why did you tell Kim we’re seeing each other when we not.”
“So you wanted me to do what you did. Lie.”
“That’s not what I meant..”
“It’s exactly what you meant. I think it’s time you accept whatever is happening between us instead of running away from it.”He cocked an eyebrow.”I’m not about to let you go. Ever.”
“I’m not yours to keep Bruno.”
“Wanna bet on it. Has any man had the privilege to touch you so intimately like I have, so openly. Even if there has been no one knows your body the way I do or have had the honor to explore it the way I have and the way I’m still gonna do it. You’re mine and as long as you’re still with me no man will ever have you.”
“Are you always this possessive or is it just me.”
“When it comes to the mother of my sons I am. Do you have clothes for tonight.”
“And if I don’t.”She said.
“We can go and buy you something.”He told her.
“Then I do have.”Lord knows she doesn’t have a cent to buy herself something she’ll have to see what her wardrobe has.”It’s time for them to eat.”
“I have to go, I’ll see you soon.”He came over to give Liam to her.
“I’m really not in the mood to go out.”
“But for me you’ll come.”He gave her a soft kiss on the temple. Sage went about her daily business of the day after Bruno left. Around noon she received a call from him he wanted to know if she was busy.
“I’m about to give the boys their shots before dinner. If this is regarding the dinner I’ll be there Bruno.”
“I know you will. I’ll give you five minutes.”
“Five minutes for what.”She asked but the call was already cut, Sage wonder what he was up to for the next five minutes she ponder on what Bruno could possibly be busy with, her question got answered when she opened her door and a lady holding a clothing rail stood before her. Sage didn’t even bother to ask what it’s all about she knows Bruno is behind this she let the woman in.
He followed a few minutes later another clothing rail full of beautiful designer gowns and dresses came in behind him.”What is all this?”
“Last time I checked it’s clothes. Dresses. Where are the boys?”
“In their room.”She answered.
“We don’t have much time then. Choose whatever dress you gonna want to wear tonight, take anything you want.”The look on his face told her it would be pointless to argue with him, so she did what he said.
The dresses are gorgeous the evening gowns too, there’s nothing Sage doesn’t like each one is more beautiful than the last, choosing one is impossible add the price tag on it she’s bound to feel overwhelmed. Is this what every rich woman pays only to look beautiful and sexy the money of one dress can feed her and the boys for half a year, it’s insane how much money people can spend on a simple dress that you can find at any second hand store, how on earth will she repay Bruno for this.”Have you seen the prices on these dresses. I won’t be able to pay you back.”
“And I don’t want you to. Come on we need to get started, choose a dress and go fit it on.”
“Bruno.”She started and bit her tongue they have guests but it seems the two women are more focused on Bruno than her and the dresses, no women is immune to his charismatic looks.”What do you mean by get started. Am I gonna have to fit all these dresses and gowns.”
“Only the ones you love the most.”So he wasn’t planning on going.”I’m staying.” He said reading her thoughts again, for the next thirty minutes Sage kept on going in and out of her bedroom with each dress fitting one after one, she loves three dresses and two gowns it sat perfectly on her the colours itself are perfect she hopes Bruno won’t see and decide she takes them all, she does have one favourite and will take that as for the rest, maybe someday when her pockets will allow her to buy them.”This is it.”He asked standing up.
“Do you mind giving us a few minutes alone.”She asked the two women after they were gone she addressed Bruno.”It’s all I can afford. And please I don’t want to argue about this, I refuse to be bought.”
