“I’m trying to help you open your eyes, to stop you from letting Bruno slip through your fingers. What will it take for you to realise that you two actually belong together. Tell me something, if he wasn’t rich or so successful as he is now would you have dated him. Given yourself a chance to love him.”
“Of course I would’ve.”She finally said.
“I rest my case.”Kim throw her hands up in the air.”You’ve got your answer.”
“You leaving.”She asked when Kim went to take her bag.
“Yes, I’ll call you.”She kissed each of the boys and gave Sage a hug.
“Good luck with the wedding. I expect a full detailed report on how everything went including your wedding night.”
Kim smiled.”Yes ma’am.”Sage was about to shut the door when she saw Bruno she heard how he greeted Kim on his way over.
“Sage.”He said stopping at the door.
“Bruno.”She returned, she nervously touched her hair, she didn’t expect him now. Sage wonder how she looked, probably a mess in her old blue jeans and t-shirt whereas he always look like he’s just stepped out of a boutique or magazine.”You look beautiful Sage.”He said interrupting her thoughts. She gaped at him, how does… she didn’t browse her thoughts out loud but he…”I came to see my sons.”He proceeded ahead without even waiting for her to answer. A second later she followed him.”I want my name on both their birth certificates.”It took a few minutes for his words to sank in.
“Bruno it’s not as easy as you think.”
“I know. That’s why I took the liberty of starting the proceedings.”
“Without discussing it with me first.”
“We’re discussing it now.”He took Logan out of his chair.”Besides as their father it’s my right.”
“If you do that then it means their surnames will get changed too.”
“Naturally.”Sage watched as he played with Logan.”They are Romeros. My blood is running through their veins. It’s their birth right to carry the Romero name.”
“I can lose them if they take your surname.”She murmured.”You getting engaged Bruno, soon you’ll be married probably have kids with your future wife there’s no need for you to do this. I won’t take the risk of you taking away the boys in future.”
“No son of mine will walk around without carrying my name. That’s final.”
“Final.”She said.”You can’t just barge in here and tell me the boys last names will be changed and expect me to willingly agree.”
“Sage this is one battle you won’t win. And I’ve told you before I won’t take the twins away from you. I might be cruel but I won’t do such a thing to my own sons.”
“How can I trust you.”She asked.”What guarantee do I have you not only saying that to make me agree to whatever you gonna do.”
“I give you my word, and my word is very sacred. Besides if I wanted to take the boys away from you I would’ve done it by now without telling you about it.” Sage stared at him for a long time, he’s right if he really wanted to he could’ve done it the second he got the DNA results but he didn’t. He has money and power and can easily influence anybody she should be asking herself why he hasn’t demanded full custody to begin with instead of worrying that he’ll take the twins away. What is he actually planning?
“I have to tell you something.”She began.
“You finally decided to give us a chance.”
“No.”She said.”Anyway there’s a chance the boys and I could move back home.”Silence filled the air, he held her gaze.”Did you hear me?”She asked after a while.
“Perfectly.”He replied.”And you not leaving.”He set Logan down in his chair to fully face her.
“Bruno I just lost my job. I can’t stay here if I’m not working, how will I pay my bills. Pay rent. Buy food. If I don’t find something in this coming month we’re leaving.”
“I can take care of all of you. If you allow me to.”
“Good thing I won’t. What will your future wife think. We’ll be fine Bruno we’ve made it this far without you and will continue to do so, I won’t stop you from being a part of Logan and Liam’s lives.”
Bruno stared down at this gorgeous woman before him she has no idea he wasn’t planning on letting her go anywhere. Ever. But for now he’ll let her think whatever she wants. He’s happy Kim has done what he had asked of her, the day Sage finds out Kim let her go because he told her so, she’ll probably hate him but he doesn’t care as long as she becomes his wife.”I know you won’t. Can I spend some time with my sons.”
“That’s it.”She asked.”You aren’t gonna oppose me leaving.”
“Even if I can would you stay.”She kept quiet.”Exactly my point. As long as I will see my sons whenever I want we won’t have a problem.”Sage couldn’t believe this he was actually agreeing to them leaving. Is this Bruno she was talking to. What on earth was wrong with him. She shrugged her shoulders maybe he is being sincere why should she always think the worst. What can he possibly do to stop them from leaving he was getting engaged what more can he want.
Sage did some job hunting over the days that followed so far she hasn’t gotten any luck but she won’t give up her time at Kim’s company is coming to an end she and the boys will only survive on her savings for another two months or so. She has to find something and soon too, thankfully Bruno hasn’t objected to them leaving when that time comes, in fact he’s been very civil, treating her as if she’s his friend. She can’t even remember when last he had kissed her, hold her in his arms whenever he comes by he spends time with the boys and that’s it, she might as well not be here the twins knows him by now as soon as they see Bruno all they want is to be in his arms and play with them. He has also bought a few toys for the boys and they having lots of fun with it. She hasn’t seen or heard anything about his engagement there’s been nothing in the papers he himself hasn’t mention it again. One thing she has notice was that he was never short of female attention, he has made front page news again the other day at a business dinner, another blonde had been on his arm looking so sexy standing next to him.
Sage was beginning to think he has a woman for each day of the week whenever she thinks about it raw jealousy consumes her having to think he takes his companions home for a long night of fun makes her heart burn. Her nights are so long cause he occupies her mind, whatever time he spends with the boys she makes sure to have her fill of him even though she cannot touch him physically. When did he become a part of her life why is he so important to her. Why can’t she stand to see him with other women. She sighed deeply and gazed at the boys, instead of eating the apple slices she has given them to eat they are busy throwing it around.”No you two. She bend down to pick it up.”No throwing food, it’s wrong.”They looked at her giggling, Liam threw another apple.”Liam those cute round eyes isn’t gonna work. Stop it.”She took their bowls away. Today wasn’t her day, her period pains are coming and going this usually happens a week before she gets her monthly flow. Her period has never been regular or on time that’s why she didn’t even know she was pregnant with the twins until four months along, her pain meds only lessen the pain for a while. Bruno stopped by later that day to see the boys but unfortunately she has just put them down for their midday naps.
“What time will they wake up?”He asked going to sit down, today he wasn’t wearing a suit, he had on casual clothing. Tight fit black jeans, a t-shirt and
jacket with a boot, he looked so yummy all Sage wanted to do was eat him up.
“An hour or so. Why?”She winced in pain and held a hand to her abdominal, he was by her side so fast she didn’t even have time to blink. His hand on her back send all kinds of tingles to shot through her.
“What’s wrong? Are you sick.”He touched her forehead, his hand is so warm, gentle.
“No, I’m fine.”His gentleness will weaken her, he has made sure not to touch her over the last couple of days and now that he is she didn’t want him to move or take his hands away, she wanted his hands all over her body, soothing her, loving her like only he knows how. She groaned softly at her
thoughts, he isn’t yours Sage the man will be engaged soon then he won’t even give you a second thought she groaned again, and moved away from his touch and the tenderness with which he was holding her, she was losing control and fast too.
“Stop pushing me away.”His softly spoken words made her look away. If she doesn’t push him away he’ll weaken her, break all her barriers and if that happens Sage is afraid he’ll own more than her body.
“I’m not.”She denied.
“Should we take you to a doctor and don’t tell me you’re fine because I can see you not.”
“It’s period pains Bruno.”She turned crimson saying that.”It will pass in a day or two.”
“It’s that time of the month.”
“Not yet. I always get these pains a week before my period and can we drop this subject I feel a little uncomfortable talking to you about my period.”
“You don’t have to Sage, I understand.”He came over to her but she moved away.”If you take one more step away from me I’m gonna come over there
and kiss you until we both gonna be breathless.”His words made her stop.”You have no idea how hard it has been for me to keep control and not do what I so desperately want to do to you. And that’s make love to you.”His hand was on her back again only this time it was resting low.”But be warned my self control is slipping. Come on let me massage your back.”He scooped her up, she tensed when he took her to the bedroom.”I won’t do more than massaging you. I promise. Trust me.”
She held his gorgeous grey eyes.”I do.”She whispered, he laid her down gently. She turned on her stomach when he instructed for her to do so. Hardly five minutes has passed and Sage already wanted him to stop, if she had been at a spa maybe it would’ve felt different but Bruno’s warm big hands on her lower back only stirred feelings she’d rather have buried this wasn’t the time to picture them naked especially since they are alone in her bedroom on her bed lord knows what she might do or ask him to do. She has to put space between them she didn’t like her train of thought or the fact that she was paying too much attention in how gentle his fingers was moving over her back and waking up her desires, how aware she was of him as a man, how much she needed him, needed him to touch her naked skin and make love to her all night
Abruptly she turned around and sat up straight, the pain was no longer a problem his gentle hands were and if he keeps on massaging her the way he had been Sage is afraid of what she’ll do.
