Who gave him the right to barge in here and turn their whole life upside down. Who said she wanted to move out of her apartment or needed him to help. If he knows what’s good for him he won’t show her his face anytime soon Sage thought as she prepared food for the boys
He has just concluded a three hour meeting and was sitting inside his office when his brother came in. Bruno was surprised to see him and wonder what he was doing here.”Hugo? What brings you by.”He never did get a chance to talk to his brother about everything between him and Maya.
“I was in the area. Thought I’d come see you. Are you busy.”
“No. Can I get you anything.”Bruno asked.
“I’m okay.”Hugo sat down and gazed around him.”I haven’t been here in a while. Did you do some changes.”
“No. The new cleaning crew is doing a good job in keeping the place spotless everything looks new.”
“Well they certainly know what they doing. How are you doing?”

“I miss my big brother.”Hugo said.”We haven’t really talked since I married Maya.”
“Hugo I owe you an apology, it was wrong of me to behave the way I did but when I found-…”
“You don’t have to apologise because there’s nothing to forgive you acted the way anyone who would’ve been in your shoes acted. We the ones who are
sorry for not being honest with you, but I love her I never asked to fall in love with her it just happened.”
“I know.”Bruno said, his thoughts going to Sage.”Some things just happen and we can’t stop it no matter how hard we try.”
“Seems to me someone already got under that thick skin of yours and I doubt if it’s Lana.”
Bruno brought his thoughts back to the present.”I forgave you Hugo, Maya too. I wish you the best going forward and I’m sorry for not attending your wedding.”He went over to give his brother a hug.”Let’s leave the past exactly where it should be and start over. Mother never would’ve wanted us to be so distant from each other. Family always sticks together no matter what.”
“Maya asked me to invite you over for dinner that way she’ll know you aren’t mad at her anymore.”

“Eight.”Hugo answered.”You welcome to bring someone.”
Sage popped into his head again. Would she even come with him if he asked her she must be pissed at him after he left and she was still talking. He
doubts she’ll want to see him or have anything to do with him.”I hope Lana won’t be there I don’t have time for her drama, especially after what she
did.”
“She’s upset you let her take a cab instead of taking her home. Not to mention the red head she saw you with, she came by last night in tears.”
“She shouldn’t have been there, I wonder how she found out where I was to begin with. It’s not my fault she came by unannounced.”
“I didn’t know you were into red heads. Who is she. Uncle also saw the paper this morning he wasn’t too pleased.”
At this point Bruno doesn’t care about anything or anyone only one woman matters and that’s Sage.”He’ll have to be strong I’m not going to marry Lana. End of story. We’re not compatible and I don’t feel anything for her.”
“A woman finally got to you, so much so that you don’t give a damn about anyone else’s opinion. Bring her over. The red head.”
“Her name is Sage.”He clarified.”And that is if she’ll talk to me.”
His brother smiled.”You never had a problem in getting women to talk to you.”
“This one is different Hugo. She challenges me, she’s so hell bent on wanting nothing to do with me.”
“And that frustrates you because women usually run to you and not away from you.”Bruno nodded.”Now I really want to meet this Sage. Bring her.”
“I’ll see.”Bruno said, Hugo stood up and he walked him to the door.”Until tonight.”His brother agreed, when Hugo was gone he called Sage, but her voice mail answered. She must still be upset, he took his jacket and left.
Sage has to say the new apartment was better and far spacious than the one downstairs, she can see the ocean a few meters away. They moved three floors up, thirty minutes after Bruno had left people had come to take and bring her stuff up here even organizing her clothing and stuff, all her furniture had been left now she’ll be using these expensive updated appliances, and beautiful furniture it was off the best money can buy she knows Bruno was behind this and Mr Jensen friendly behavior towards her. Sage loves the kitchen it was big and has an island, she can move around freely a nice comfy living room is ad joint with a dining room, open concept was all around the apartment both bedrooms has their own bathrooms which is big, she has a tub and shower but the boys has a tub only, a separate toilet was next to the kitchen. It must cost a fortune to stay here and Bruno has already paid in advance for a whole year how on earth was she gonna pay him back.
He had called earlier on but she didn’t answer she was still mad at him for doing what he did, first the flowers chocolates, jewelry, then the dress and the phone and now this, she might as well be his mistress cause she’s staying in a place he paid for using a phone he bought. She angrily stripped herself naked and climbed into her nice hot bath when last did she get the pleasure of feeling the water on her skin like this it’s been ages. She’d made sure to worn out the boys the entire day so they could go to bed early and she can get some rest tomorrow she was going back to work her two days of being off is over. And after this bath she intends to go to bed early. She heard the doorbell rang a few minutes later and whoever it was doesn’t want to go away, can’t they leave her alone for a while longer to enjoy her nice bath, getting out of the water she wrapped a towel around herself and went to answer. It was Bruno, and he was holding a bouquet or red roses her favorite kind of roses.”May I come in.”Asking how he found her room was pointless after all he paid for it.”I’m not leaving until you let me in.”He said when she refused to move, she eventually step aside for him to come in.
“Do you always force your way into other people’s apartment.”She stood behind the door and crossed her arms, he looked so sexy with his blue suit his aftershave combined with cologne played havoc on her senses all she wanted to do was ran her fingers across his smoothly clean shaven jaw.
He looked around him.”This place suits you. It’s much better and I like the decor too. These are for you.”He held out the roses to her, she took it. At least the dining room table won’t look so empty.
“I’d say thank you but I’m angry at you.”She walked to the kitchen and looked for a vase to put them in.”I don’t appreciate how you interfered in my life.”
“And I’m sorry.”He said.”It’s a habit.”
“We’re not lovers Bruno for you to come and do as you please. Right now I might as well be your lover since I’m staying in this apartment you paying for using the phone, the dress, jewelry. I won’t be bought buy anyone.”
“I’m not trying to buy you Sage.”
“Well right now it feels like it.”Her mother slept with different wealthy men so she could have the comfortable lifestyle she’s always wanted, even her own daughter didn’t matter, growing up Sage had vowed she’d never be like her biological mother but look at her, unwanted tears rose to the surface.
“Hey.”His gentle tone and the way he was touching her almost made her burst into tears.”What’s wrong?”

“I’m sorry okay. Whatever I did I’m sorry it’s just when it comes to-…”His voice trailed off. Was he actually about to confess how crazy she drives him and he wants nothing but the best for her. No he can’t do that.”Sage I’m not doing all of this to get you into my bed I wanna help you. Is that so bad.”
“No but I don’t need or want help. All my life I’ve fend for myself I don’t want to depend on anyone for anything.”
“I doubt someone who’s as strong willed as you can depend on anyone. You too stubborn.”
