He pushed Charlotte away and said it was nothing.
Regan stepped forward at the right moment and asked, “Father is not angry anymore?”
Nelson nodded, “Jaquan is in trouble, and the Ellison family will inevitably be affected. In the coming days, I need you to pay more attention. Mr. Ellison… is getting old.”
Regan understood, “I have already gotten a good handle on the family business. Don’t worry.”
While they were talking, they didn’t notice Charlotte clenching her fingers subconsciously, her expression complex.
“What are you thinking?” Nelson asked.
Charlotte snapped back to reality, “I was just thinking, with Jaquan in trouble, will our wedding be affected?”
Regan glanced sideways.
Nelson said, “You don’t seem to care about your sister at all.”
This statement shocked Charlotte, “I do care. Mother is with Marilyn. She is emotionally unstable right now. I’m afraid seeing me will make her more agitated… so…”
She was flustered, but Nelson just curled his lips, “Just a casual remark.”
“The wedding will proceed as scheduled. It will be a tough few days for you.”
Charlotte shook her head joyfully, then asked, “When will we get the marriage certificate? I see others get it before the wedding.”
Nelson replied nonchalantly, “It will be busy these days. We’ll do it when there’s time.”
He didn’t specify a date.
Charlotte’s smile became somewhat stiff.
Nelson left the Ellison family and got into the car. Anthony had been waiting for a long time and noticed the blood-stained bandage on Nelson’s hand, “Mr. Oconnor, you’re injured again…”
Nelson glanced at him, “It’s nothing.”
“There’s medicine in the car. Let me find it.”
Nelson stopped him, “Let’s talk business.”
Anthony had to stop his actions, “Jaquan received a call last night and found out you didn’t leave International Waters.”
“Whose call was it?”
“We couldn’t trace it. It was well concealed, but the number’s location is in Ylosea.”
Anthony was puzzled, “But it shouldn’t be. Only a few people know your whereabouts, and they’re all our people. We’ve checked; they didn’t leak any information.”
Nelson exhaled slowly, his expression unhappy as he recalled something.
At Paucaster Villa.
“Kieran! I told you to take me home, not bring me here!”
In the living room, Callie was almost furious as she was blocked by bodyguards from leaving.
Kieran outside didn’t dare to look up, “… Callie, I had no choice. It was his order.”
It was obvious who he referred to.
Callie felt faint with anger, “This is kidnapping and illegal detention. I can call the police!”
Kieran couldn’t handle it anymore. Just then, a car slid into the yard. He looked like he saw a savior, “Mr. Oconnor is back. Callie, you can talk to him.”
He ran off after saying that. Nelson got out of the car and saw Kieran slipping behind him, “What’s going on?”
Kieran gestured inside, “I can’t control her.”
Since the divorce, Nelson no longer lived at Paucaster Villa, but it was still cleaned regularly and remained a quiet and peaceful place.
He stepped into the familiar house. Callie stood at the door, tense and silent.
She watched him walk in and said, “Not busy building a love nest with your fiancee? Why bring me to Paucaster Villa?”
Nelson took off his coat calmly, “At least staying here won’t get you kidnapped to a place with a timed bomb.”
Callie sneered, “So you’re doing this for my own good?”
Nelson neither confirmed nor denied.
Callie was furious and wished she could tear off this man’s calm facade. Yesterday’s gratitude had vanished.
“If you dare leave me here, I’ll immediately expose your fickleness to the media.”
