Ulric pressed his lips together in silence before hanging up the phone.
Not long after, Rosalind came downstairs. She noticed he seemed deep in thought, his handsome face tense, looking displeased. She cautiously approached him.
“What’s wrong?”
Ulric reached out and pulled her into his arms. “I was thinking about when we might return to Easthaven Bay after we leave this time.”
“Once you’re healed.”
He looked up. “It’s ‘we’ coming back together, right?”
“Ulric, why do you keep asking that?” Rosalind didn’t want to deceive him, so she smiled and held his hand. “Please don’t be like this. I don’t like it.”
One sentence from her was enough to stop Ulric from saying anything more.
Whatever Rosalind disliked, he wouldn’t do.
“Let’s sleep, shall we? We have a flight tomorrow, and I’m a bit tired.”
“Okay.”
…
The next day, Ulric and Rosalind boarded the plane to Sweden.
With Floyd and Jake along, Ulric decided to book the entire first-class cabin so the kids would have room to play.
“I know you have money, but you don’t need to waste it like this.”
Rosalind felt a bit distressed!
Even though she knew Ulric’s wealth meant he wouldn’t care about such expenses, Rosalind had climbed up from humble beginnings and thriftiness was ingrained in her.
To think that the cost of this flight could equal what she earned in three years during middle school.
Maybe even more.
“Feeling distressed?”
“Yes.”
Rosalind nodded honestly.
Ulric thought for a moment. “How about I entrust all my assets to you? That way, you’ll know what I buy and spend on, and you can remind me to be thrifty anytime.”
“Better not! You have so much money. I couldn’t possibly manage it.”
Even Tilda wouldn’t dare take over Johnny’s assets. How could she manage Ulric’s assets? He was the president of W Group, after all! Rosalind couldn’t even fathom the magnitude of his fortune.
“You could hire someone to manage it for you.”
“No need for that trouble. You handle it yourself! I know nothing about economics.”
Seeing her shake her head repeatedly, Ulric didn’t insist.
After all, his money was hers too.
Ten hours passed quickly, and the plane landed smoothly at Malmo Airport.
The people who came to pick them up were already waiting and bowed respectfully upon seeing Ulric.
“Young Master.”
“Mm.”
Ulric handed over the luggage and then carried Floyd with one arm while holding Rosalind’s hand with the other.
Just as they got into the car, Rosalind’s phone rang.
Ulric glanced at it instinctively, and his expression darkened immediately.
It was Malcolm calling.
Why wouldn’t he just leave them alone?
Rosalind knew Ulric was unhappy, so she chose not to answer immediately but smiled instead. “He might just want to check if I’ve arrived safely. Don’t be like that!”
“My woman doesn’t need his concern.”
“Ulric, stop acting like a child.”
Floyd turned around from the front seat, looked at her daddy, and stuck out her tongue. Jake, Mommy said Daddy is like a child! Haha!”
“Dad is jealous of Uncle Malcolm.” Jake always hit the nail on the head.
Rosalind didn’t know how to respond.
However, Ulric nodded and admitted openly, “That’s right. It’s all because your mommy is too charming. Uncle Malcolm always wants to steal her away.”
Rosalind sighed helplessly. “Ulric, don’t teach the kids bad things!”
