Kael
I saw Seraphina again. Or rather, I smelled her first-that sweet scent, like strawberry cake, so intoxicating that I couldn’t resist. I followed the trail until I found her.
But then, what did I see?
Seraphina was having dinner with another man. They were laughing, talking, completely at ease with each other, as if they were close friends-or more.
That man…
I immediately recognized him. He was the doctor from the Eagle Club, the same one from our school, the one who sparked rumors with Seraphina last time.
In that moment, jealousy flared inside me like a raging fire, burning so fiercely that I felt like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode at any second.
They seemed so comfortable together, laughing, sharing their time and even food. She put a piece of steak from her plate onto his.
Their intimacy was unbearable.
I wanted to take her away-right then and there. I couldn’t stand seeing her beautiful, flower-like face smiling at another man. I couldn’t bear to watch them sharing a meal or chatting about things I knew nothing about.
My emotions were so intense that my chest rose and fell violently. In that moment, I had the urge to destroy the entire world.
Vivienne, standing nearby, sneered. “Kael, do you see it now? Seraphina’s nothing but a flirt. She’s like this with every man she meets. You’re just one of many.”
“Shut up!” I snapped, my face cold as I glared at her.
At that moment, Seraphina noticed me.
Through the glass window, her gaze locked on mine. She looked surprised, clearly not expecting me to show up. But her expression quickly shifted to annoyance, and she turned her head away, refusing to look at me again.
As if I were trash to her.
Damn it. What was that reaction?
Her avoidance only fueled my anger, and I stormed into the restaurant to confront her, unbothered by the stares of everyone around us.
I grabbed her hand and pulled her up from her seat.
The entire restaurant turned their attention to us.
Seraphina looked shocked and screamed, “Let go of me! Kael, are you insane?”
“Yes, I’m insane. If you don’t want to be the center of attention, I suggest you come with me quietly,” I said, my voice low and threatening.
Seraphina, clearly embarrassed, glanced around at the crowd. She hated being the focus of attention, always preferring to keep a low profile.
It worked. She softened, reluctantly agreeing to leave with me.
Turning to Magnus, she said, “Magnus, I’m sorry. I need to deal with something.”
But Magnus grabbed her other hand. “Seraphina, he’s threatening you. Don’t go with him.”
My gaze sharpened, locking onto Magnus with an intensity that could kill.
Magnus-this young medical student, part-time doctor at the Eagle Club-had always been low-key, mild-mannered, and competent. I’d never thought much of him before.
But now? He dared to challenge me.
Magnus met my glare without flinching, refusing to let go of Seraphina’s hand.
“Magnus, let go,” I warned.
“Kael, you can’t force her. She deserves to make her own choices.”
Her own choices? I laughed bitterly.
“Magnus, it’s fine. Kael won’t hurt me. I’ll just talk to him,” Seraphina said softly, her tone gentle and reassuring toward Magnus-so different from how she spoke to me.
The jealousy burned hotter. I felt like the villain trying to tear them apart.
No. Seraphina and I were meant to be together. My wolf had chosen her. Magnus was nothing.
Magnus finally released her hand.
“Alright, Seraphina. Be safe,” he said, his voice full of concern. Then he turned to me. “Kael, don’t harm her. She’s just a girl.”
“I don’t need your advice.”
I dragged Seraphina out of the restaurant.
As we passed Vivienne, she smirked. “Kael, you’re finished. Your father won’t let this slide.”
“I suggest you don’t become a backstabbing snitch,” I warned, glaring at her.
But Vivienne only smiled, turning her attention to Seraphina. “Seraphina, you shouldn’t be with Kael.”
Before she could say more, I pulled Seraphina away.
Damn it. Why was everyone trying to stop us from being together? Seraphina and I were true love!
I didn’t even know where I was going. My mind was a haze, my actions driven purely by instinct.
Seraphina struggled to keep up as I dragged her along.
“Kael, stop! Where are you taking me? We can talk right here,” she said, her voice filled with anger.
Her tone only made me more irritable.
I was angrier than she was. She’d been happily dining with another man, sharing her food with him, walking in the rain with him-a scene dripping with romance.
In her heart, what was I to her?
Before I realized it, we were standing in front of my apartment building.
Seraphina hesitated, fear flashing across her face.
Her reaction made me scoff. Of course, now that she had another man, she didn’t want to be alone with me.
But the more she resisted, the more I wanted to force her.
I picked her up and carried her inside.
“Kael, put me down! Don’t make me hate you,” she protested, struggling in my arms.
“You already don’t like me,” I growled. “You betrayed me, Seraphina. You said you’d think about us-was this your decision?”
Inside, I threw her onto the bed.
She fought back, but I pinned her down and kissed her.
She had no idea how dangerous a man’s jealousy could be.
Images of her with Magnus flashed through my mind, fueling my rage.
The wolf inside me-Shadow-howled for blood, demanding I kill Magnus.
My possessiveness consumed me, but my rational mind held on. I couldn’t expose myself as a werewolf, or I’d be exiled from the pack.
Letting Magnus go didn’t mean I’d let Seraphina off so easily.
I kissed her harder, stealing the air from her lungs. My hands roamed her body, rough and impatient, gripping her with more force than usual.
Her muffled cries of pain only seemed to heighten my desire.
